    Wine on the bridge.
    Paul F H.

On a beautiful September evening we joined the crowd on the bridge enjoying a glass of wine. The wine was fine, nothing spectacular, but the experience, the ambience and the view was one to remember--at least for us from the USA who aren't around to join the party on a regular basis. You'll have to read other reviews for the food--but from me, two thumbs up for walk up wine window and serving the wine in real wine glasses--I.e., glass, not plastic!

Beautiful view, and great staff. Their wine service and selection was impeccable. If you're sitting outside, be careful not to drop your phone. It will likely end up in the Main river. They offer online reservations. Highly recommend.

Spargel (asparagus) with Kräutersalat (herb salad)

This is a nice place to eat while sitting outside along the Main and near the Alte Brücke (old bridge). It was spargel (white asparagus) season so we had some spargel items. We had 3 entrees (risotto with Parmesan and Spargel, Spargel with mixed greens, and wurst with fried potatoes. They gave us a basket of good brown bread. Our total with 3 soft drinks was 46EUR.

We had prime seating today! Beautiful views of the river and castle...enjoyable even during winter's fifty shades of gray.

Delicious food and beautiful view sitting just at the base of the alte mainbrucke. Wurzburg is a charming little town, with the beautiful Residenz ( A UNESCO World Heritage Site) and an impressively situated castle. When all that exploring leaves you charmed, but famished, Alte Mainmühle is an excellent way to end your day. We managed to sneak in without reservations, but they're highly recommended. We had roast fish and sauerbraten, which in our opinion, has been the best in Germany so far. The wine and beer offerings are of course, plentiful, and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. We plan on taking all our family and friends here on their adventures throughout Europe in the coming months--Wurzburg, and this little gem, are not to be missed!

Charming wine bar and German restaurant right on the river and main bridge. You have a great view of the city and surrounding wine region, awesome bar with a wood burning fire and good food. We came in for wine and snacks. Their potato pumpkin soup was good and regular meals looks great.

Bert nice location. Reservation is advised. Good food. Good service.

We went in and we did not have reservations, but they sat us in the bar area (at a table that regulars usually use). The food was delightful (schnitzel, pork shoulder, and wurst). The beer was very good. The service and ambiance were great. So glad we found this treasure.

I came across this hidden gem through reddit. This restaurant is nestled up on one of the side streets more in an alleyway. I ordered an aperol spritz as well as a full order of the Braised onion soup which had franconia onion sauce and delicious homemade potato balls *chefs kiss* my mother had the same but half the portion including the wine soup which she loved! Definitely wish I could've ordered more off the menu! The portions are very generous, loved the cozy ambiance and the unique charm this place had! As I walked out, I seen nothing but cheerful people in groups with friends/family eating and drinking, it definitely felt like more of a home Backöfele is a MUST when in Würzburg, remember to make reservations, this place fills up on the quickness and I could see why!

He was excellent at explaining the menu, offering suggestion and really made our dinner memorable. As far as food goes, everything we had exceeded our expectations. The chef here is notably involved in the slow food movement, so the majority of ingredients are locally sourced and organic. Each table received a variety of different breads with two accompanying spreads, one sweet, one savory. We also had one appetizer that was trout three ways and each was completely different from the next. Additionally, we had game sausage two ways, one was just a simple link, the other prepared in a light broth. My dinner consisted of a whole fish (ordered by the gram), roasted parsley potatoes with garlic butter and a huge side salad. The fish was prepared in the "blue" style which was simply broth and herbs, topped with shredded vegetables and a twist of lemon. It was phenomenally simple and truly showed off the flavor of the fish, which our waiter informed us was locally caught from a small, exclusive pond. For Americans, the idea of organic, locally caught is just catching on, so its refreshing for the chef and waiters to know the suppliers and producers of every ingredient which they present. I also tried the rump stake one of my company ordered and it was cooked perfectly. We even received a free dessert which were chilled pieces of dense chocolate cake served on a stick, lollipop style. Even though this was our most expensive dinner in Germany, the prices were more than reasonable for the quality of ingredients and the exceptional service provided.
