I got four estimates for a new roof for my house. After meeting and talking with each contractor, I decided to go with Alte Roofing. They were all knowledgable, but Dylan was great at explaining stuff, which I needed, being a city boy and not knowing a whole lot about construction/contracting. And the office folks were great. I was having "insurance issues," and they were great in helping me get through it. The work was done in timely fashion, the crew was professional and easy to work with, and cleanup afterwards was thorough. I've had the worst luck with contractors, but Alte was cool. We reached out to Alte when we purchased our new home after getting a quote from another company. Chris worked with us to set up a time and came over to talk through EVERY detail, option, timetable. He was so wonderful and, even if the quote came in higher (which it didn't) we would have moved forward with Alte simply because of the time, care, and commitment offered by Chris. When things were finalized, the team did a phenomenal job and things were completely wrapped up in two days time (very large roof). We have two little girls and two dogs and we were definitely concerned about nails/items being left behind but things were so well cleaned up. Things were actually done in several phases by several different people for clean up to ensure nothing was left behind. Chris came back for the final walkthrough and nail sweep. Called Alte Roofing to give me an estimate to replace the shingles on my home. Alte came in $16,000.00 higher than the other two GAF approved contractors. Either they made a huge mistake or they were screwing over the local homeowners. Make sure you get competitive equal bids as they tried to get as much as they thought they could. Totally upset with the new ownership of Alte. Home owner beware. read more

I would not recommend Alte Roofing due to their lack of professionalism, respect to property, and mismanagement of the over all job. . You can make your own mind up. Its three months later and my roof and damage is not fixed. My roof was done in October. Below are the damages caused and Alte still hasn't corrected the issue. Alte claiming they are not responsible for it. My kitchen is still not fixed. Excuse after excuse as to why its not done even after they agreed to fix it. They also did not get the required permit from the Township for the roof repair. Once they replaced wood underneath, a permit was required. I called them 12/15 and they still have not gotten the permit. REFUSING PAYMENT OF ANY KIND UNTIL WORK IS DONE. Save your money and go elsewhere. Replacing an entire roof is a huge investment so we've been putting it off for some time. Given our recent situation in which we were starting to get some water damage on the inside left us with no time in making a decision and needing fast action. Jeff's office staff was prompt and friendly and made us a priority in coming out for a quote, sealing up our leaks and replacing our entire roof and skylight - all within a 2 week timeframe that included a Thanksgiving holiday and bitter cold temperatures! The roofers had to move several items around our house to ensure they didn't damage our property and when they were done, the items were back to where they found them and the roofing debris was entirely cleaned up. Bad timing that earlier this month (Dec.) we learned we needed some serious roof repairs or maybe even a new installation. Of the local roofers I contacted, Alte was the only one who was able to schedule the work within a couple of weeks. They also had a load of great reviews & a top BBB rating, so I made an appt for Chris to do an inspection & go over some options. He was thorough, professional, & took the time to explain all the details & answer our questions. Despite the sticker shock, we decided a new roof was the way to go. The weather cooperated & 2 weeks later, over 2 days, the job was done. I can't say enough good things about Chris, Frank (project manager), & the site foreman & his incredible crew. The organization, workmanship (which also included new chimney flashing & roof vent repairs), & communication were all great. Everything was carefully prepped, but I was especially impressed by (& grateful for) the thorough cleanup -- even down to small things like placing the patio furniture & window well covers back exactly as they were. Whether it all proves to be a "good value" is subjective & depends on things like budget; but the new roof does look beautiful, & if the GAF 50-yr warranty holds up as claimed, then yes, it's a good value. I hired Jeff to do her gutters when we first moved in and I wanted to go with a local company that can do a nice job fast. I paid him around $3000 to install new gutters and guards all around my home. Fast forward less than a year later, a branch fell on my roof ripping a 3 foot portion of gutter off. So my first move is to call Jeff since he installed it. However, not only did Jeff refused to send someone out to assess the damage and give me a fair price, he said it was too small of a job and not worth his time. Don't bother giving him your money because that is all he wants. He does not care about the customer. I wish I could rewind time and get my gutters installed from someone else who cares. Also to respond to Jeff's comment that they had asked me to send them a picture of the damage, I did and that is when I received the voicemail that he couldn't possibly replace just 3 feet of my damaged gutter but needed to replace the full 6 feet. However, after stating that he concluded that kind of work isn't worth his busy time and that I should just try and call another gutter company. It's a shame that the company that installed the gutters won't even come back out to repair it even when I "played ball" and send pictures of the damage as requested and THEN lied about it on Yelp to combat my review and protect his precious business. I have really been dreading getting a new roof for the last few years. We had some leaks, so it had to be done. I was not looking forward to spending a lot money and going through a lot of upset. Using Jeff Alte Jr was the smartest thing I did in this process. I called Jeff and he came out and looked at my roof. He was very professional and knowledgeable and he has years of experience. Many of my friends have used him and they all sing his praises. We discussed some of the problem areas and Jeff had the solutions. A few days later, we went to his office in Hackettstown to pick out shingles and gutters. Kathy, the person in the office, was terrific. She was genuinely trying to find the roof that would serve our purposes. No high-pressure. She gave me the addresses of people who have the same roof we were considering, so we could drive by and evaluate. The next parts of the project also went smoothly. The material was dropped off. The roofers showed up at 7.30 the next morning and worked until evening. They cleaned up before they left so everything was neat and orderly for them the next morning. Loved it. Next day, they were here early and completed by late afternoon. There were 6 of them. They were friendly, courteous and very conscientious. They were easy to have around the house. When they left, everything was as it should be. They must have walked around my house with the large handheld magnets a hundred times to insure they got all the nails off the ground. Gutter people showed up the next day. Perfect execution. Very professional. Very courteous. They wanted me to be happy with their work, which I appreciated. Jeff came by for the final inspection and looked over the work. It was important that I was a satisfied customer. This could not have gone any better. read more

Had them out for an estimate on my 2200SF ranch. I knew I was in trouble when the salesman started his iPad presentation. The estimate was for $41,000 but if I signed right then the price would be $37,000. I told him I was going to get 2 more estimates. Suddenly he told me if they took pictures of the roof and used it in their advertising the price would be $32,000. At that point I knew I would never use them. These are old schemes for selling siding to the unsuspecting. The next two estimates I got were $16,000 and $17,000. Both roofers told me they had bid against Alte Jr for other jobs and were approximately half the price. read more

Jeff Alte Jr. Roofing installed our new roof a couple of months ago. He came to give us an estimate and was very nice and professional. He did not try and sell us anything we didn't need, and his pricing was fair. His crew showed up on the day scheduled at the time they were expected, and did an excellent job. Everyone from start to finish was friendly and helpful. This roofing company is listed on GAF's website as a master installer of their products, and you really can't do better than GAF products. They even offer an extended warranty above and beyond what the manufacturer offers. Our roof looks amazing and we're finding that it has reduced some of the noise that we used to hear, and the ridge lines they installed eliminate the need for the noisy attic fan we had. The crew was very clean and left no trash behind. We watched them go through our yard with the large magnet to ensure no nails would be left behind. Overall a great experience and we would certainly recommend them to any and all of our friends and family. read more

Just had the worst experience with the a guy named Kurt who basically told me to F off. It was a simple roof job who he was not interested in helping give me a quote. He was basically pissed his boss made him drive out on a Saturday and come to realize his boss did the same house quote a year ago. And why is that my problem? You should never treat people / clients this way. Not cool. Don't bother working with this company because they do not know how to treat clients or work professionally. read more
