Incredibly rude tailor. This entire encounter could've gone better if she had left signage on the door and/or automated text replies stating not to contact her outside business hours (and other desired business practices), waited until actual business hours to respond to my texts (e.g. to take care of her "glass emergency" in peace and first), and spoken to me tactfully in text and in person. For any future customers: while she IS open from 12pm to 7pm most days, do not message her outside those hours for any reason, because she will not hesitate to retaliate, even though she "doesn't answer the phone before noon". I'm a new customer and new to Florida, discovered her while exploring Duval St, and walked in approximately 3pm on St Patrick's Day for a simple alteration: 1 line of stitching each in between the bra pads of my 2 athletic tank tops. She was nice enough in person that day, requested $20 for the job, and did indeed do it well and same day (6pm). Because she closes at 7pm, I requested to meet her the next day. She provided her hours (12-7pm) and requested a 15 minute notice before I arrive. I gave her a 20 minute notice at 11:38am, and she abruptly blocked me because I messaged before she opened. I was not previously advised not to message before hours, nor am I aware whether she did indeed unblock me as stated. When I picked up my stuff at 12:15 as requested, she accused me and all other "young people" of "lacking proper etiquette" rather than apologize for her rudeness or at least lead by explaining politely that "approaching a business right at their opening minutes is a bad idea". read more

This person is not stable. I wish I had seen these Yelp reviews before I dealt with her. The reviews about ripping people off are 100% correct. That happened to me as well. She greeted me incredibly rudely - after I texted her 15 minutes in advance of showing up (per her requirements, she was not at her door, but rather upstairs in her apartment, stuck her head out the window and snarled, "What do you want?!" as if she had no idea who I was or why I was there. She DID respond to my text less than 15 minutes prior. But ok. I still walked in very nicely was nothing but friendly, and before she gave me a price she did the ol' "so what do you do?" nonsense. As if what I do for a living will give her the indicator of how much she can rip me off for. My item was a simple alteration that took her less than an hour after I left to fix - after giving me some song and dance about how complicated a simple hem she can do on a sewing machine was. I did let her know she was charging me 2 and a half times what the skirt cost for a repair she clearly completed in 15 minutes. Apparently nobody talks back to this person and she didn't like that. I got some raving lunatic text novel the next day about a dentist (????!) and other nonsense. I told her not to text me and I would give the 15 minute notice of pick up. I did that. I showed up and she told me SHE GAVE MY CLOTHES AWAY AND DROPPED THEM OFF 5 MILES AWAY at a location I didn't know or had anything to do with! When I called the police they said they are well aware of her, and also confirmed she is not stable. I was able to get the clothes back, AND SHE HAD DONE NOTHING TO THEM! She is a fraud, a con, and a liar. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS POOR LADY! SHE NEEDS HELP. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away! read more

If I could leave zero I would. Took a bridesmaid dress in to see if I could get a last minute alteration. She assured me she could do it. I picked the dress up the next day before I got on my flight for the wedding. When I picked it up and she told me the price my jaw almost hit the floor. It was over double what I paid for the dress and all that I needed was the bottom layers hemmed. I was in shock and didn't say anything. I just paid and left. When I got to my destination and looked at the dress, she hemmed the top layer on the bottom of the dress but not the second layer so the whole dress looked like it had just been cut and the slip was just showing. I was mortified to show up to my friends wedding like that but had no choice. Not only did I get totally ripped off (and I did, I have had many items done by other people) but it was the worst job I have ever seen. I would have been better off cutting it with scissors while blind folded myself. I 100% do not recommend. *Side note. I know for a fact I am not the only person this has happened to, and she has been extremely rude to many clients and local military members as well. I highly suggest finding anyone else, and I do mean ANYONE else. read more
