Bought a cheap dress off Amazon after coming into this shop too close to my wedding date to order…read morefrom here. The window displays were full of fancy gowns and the store has some floor stock which can be purchased off the rack. I really appreciated that Adriana was conservative in her order time approach rather than blowing sunshine to get me to order something that might not arrive in time. I took my chances with the Amazon dress which did arrive timely. It was also workable given how cheap it was and I was so happy when I returned here. Adriana gave me a fitting consult and advised she'd have it ready for me several days before my wedding date, down to the hour of 3:00 p.m. that pickup date. Sure enough, it was ready exactly when she said it would be. I tried it on with my shoes and everything was perfect - hem and upper body alterations. I asked for the leftover fabric pieces to maybe make some matching hair bows or something and they were waiting in my dress bag. With taxes the hem and alterations came out to about $90 which was actually more than I paid for the dress, and it is worth every penny. I asked if she provided pressing service but she doesn't provide that service. She advised me on the proper setting to use if I did it at home as opposed to taking it to a dry cleaner, so I did it at home and it turned out fine. She used to be located down on St. Clair for about 12 years and then moved up to Vaughan about a year or so ago, so while the store is new here, her experience is solid. She has a fantastic interactive website and answered my message immediately from there while my dress was in the shop. She's upbeat and professional, as well as good at her work. I will return anytime I need an alteration done for any occasion.

Then I asked them to strengthen the seems of a pants (that was never worn, or broken) and they charged $28. When I picked it up it was pretty much handed back to me The same way I gave them and when I pointed it out she had to take it back and have it redone, which again was done halfway. Very dishonest and poor work...If zero was a rating option this would be it.

I needed sraps on my dress shortened for a wedding I have next week and I also wanted the top of the dress taken in a little. She said she could not take it in as 6 days was not enough time and she could only shorten the straps. I begged her, since I've been a long time customer and she did not budge so i agreeded to only having tge straps taken in. Then she went to the back to talk to her seamstress and she came back saying to take in tge straps she had to unstich everything at the top of the dress and it would cost me $100... I really did not understand how somthing so simple turned into unstiching a whole top of the dress. I was in total shock! For straps! Not even sleeves they are two pieces of fabric that hang off the shoulder. How disappointing. I grabbed my dress and left. I went into Nordstrom. They have an alterations booth. He charged me $60 for shortening of the straps and taking it in for me. Do not give your business to Stitch It yorkdale.

I can't believe I have yet to give props to my alterations man, Howard!!! He is the best there is…read more When I first moved to Toronto, I took many chances on several different places for alterations--everything from jeans to dresses and a couple of things in between and I have to say that Stitch Master is where it's at. Prices are amazing for what you get: turn-around time is excellent (sometimes he gets the job done before the appointed pick-up day, and this, during his busy season!), and the quality is top-notch and professional. I've gone to places downtown but found them way overpriced, quality very meh and their hours weren't all that convenient--for the same job that Howard can do in less time with fewer hassles AND lower prices. He is located along Dufferin (near Yorkdale Mall) in a plaza with Seoul House Restaurant, Fabricland, Marche Istanbul (stop in for baklava if you're there, they get their delivery on Thursdays and they're right next door), a florist, and a couple of other businesses you may find useful. I can't recall if he does custom clothing but I know that he was a tailor back in his native Hong Kong. He's super-sweet too; I've had some 911 situations and he's always come through. I feel bad that sometimes I'm so forgetful and run to him last-minute but he's really good like that. Don't be pushy with him though, if he says no, just let it go, especially in the summer or near the holidays as those are his busiest times. It's only him and another woman that do all the work. He's done some pretty amazing things with clothes I bought because I loved them but they were either to big for me or not snug in the right places (dresses, skirts, even tops!), and he made them fit PERFECTLY. He's also worked on some of my leather jackets as I can never find the perfect one--I've had him remove little details that I want to have disappear--and not a single stitch out of place or hole left in the leather. My jackets come out looking like they were made that way! He can do some crazy things with jeans too--a friend of mine who referred me to him in the first place goes there so he can work his magic on every single pair of hers and just when I thought she couldn't have a nicer ass, hers looks like God made it himself in her modified jeans!! I've been to places that have messed a few things up but this never happens with Howard. If I have items that I want but something isn't right, I don't risk taking it to some place based on price or convenience as I'm terrified of what I'll get back but I never have to deal with that kind of stress with Howard. If he can't do the job, he will tell you on the spot and that's only happened once. If ever you're out shopping and unsure of an item due to fit, buy it (check the store's return policy first!) and bring it in and if Howard can't do it, you can always return the item. Very low risk but worth the trouble. You'll see! (I can't recall if he's cash only but bring some anyhow!)
