Systemic Communication Failure and Unprofessional On-Site Staff…read more Although the in-office appointment with the physician was satisfactory, the follow-up and communication system for this Baptist Health-affiliated practice is significantly flawed. It may be considered dangerous. The only way to contact the office for any questions (such as prescriptions, lab orders, etc.) is through the general Baptist phone service. While this system works well for scheduling appointments, it falls short in addressing other patient needs. The doctor's office staff never delivers or returns messages taken by the call center. This occurred regarding an update needed for a lab order. After leaving multiple messages with no response, visiting the physical office location was necessary. The receptionist was rude, unprofessional, and dismissive. She refused to contact a nurse or help resolve the issue in person. Because there is no direct line of communication to a person at the local office, and due to the staff's rudeness and unresponsiveness, this practice poses a serious risk to patient care. If follow-up is needed, you will likely be ignored. Potential patients should seek care elsewhere until Baptist Health improves this system.

The pros: The young lady at the front desk is sweet. She tries her best to attend to you as soon as you arrive and makes sure all your information is current. The waiting area/lobby is elegantly decorated and very clean. The lighting is also not harsh on the eyes and it's very quiet. Dr. Buia is sweet and compassionate. She really has a patient's best interest at heart and wants all the details on your condition(s). Her first appointment with me lasted almost a full hour and included all kinds of questions and in-office tests. The office can perform EKGs and urinalyses on the spot; they'll tell you if there are any abnormalities right then and there. Cons: The office staff is exceptionally rude. I've heard them screaming at older patients over the phone and down the hall while I wait for the doctor. The medical assistant/nurse isn't much better. The wait time I've averaged out in two visits is over two hours. I arrived today at 3:55pm for a 4pm appointment, and left at 6pm. The doctor will sometimes forget you are there if she sends you into the restroom for a urinalysis, and see another patient before coming back to you. This doctor is absolutely struggling with memory retention. She asks the same exact questions about five to six times. She genuinely doesn't remember asking you. I spent most of my time with her repeating information I disclosed moments ago. Her staff constantly has to remind her that a patient has been waiting too long. Overall Impression: The doctor really does try her best to help her patients. She is a really sweet woman who just wants to see you get better. At this point in time, though, I just need relief from the symptoms I'm experiencing, so I'm unfortunately in the market for a new PCP.

My mother is handicapped and desperately needed Dr. Feito's signature for the DMV to issue a disabled placard. She can't get a doctor in another state unless she's moving here and that's a whole other process. She needed Dr Feito who is her primary care physician to sign a permit for a temporary placard, which is completely legal and within her means, but she wouldn't do it. My mother can't walk long distances and her car is parked in a garage that is too far away from her apartment, she needs a disability space in front of her building. It took them a week to get to it and then, they still wouldn't sign. The Doctor is only a good doctor who cares about her patients if they stay put. Her empathy doesn't extend out of state.

The staff is great, everyone I have talked to there is very friendly and competent. And Dr. Hernandez is awesome. I live a rather active life and am known to injure myself from time to time, so far no matter what I come to her with, she has had the right answer on the first try. Ear issues (diving), muscle pain (work), joint issues (no clue) fixed them all. My visits are normally pain related, which means sooner rather than later, and each time she has managed to find space for me on the day I called. If she is willing to take you on, you are lucky and should switch.
