Horrible. I went yesterday for what I thought was a dental infection only, which is what they told me... went to another dr today to be told that if this e.r had checked my ears they would have seen that I had a double ear infection as well which was causing all the swelling and pain. Nurses were nice. Radiology tech argued with me because apparently even with a tubal and not having "relations" there's always a chance of pregnancy. That's insanity. read more

I cut my finger and needed stitches. I was able to get in right away and seen promptly. The staff was very knowledgeable and empathetic. They even helped me fill my paperwork out since it was my right hand that was hurt. I had no waiting time at all. I would highly recommend going to this facility for any emergency need Update: I had a few nurses opinion today and told me to go to a real hospital in Houston. So to Methodist I go! I thought they had stitched it up. But it was actually tacted down to regain blood supply. That didn't work. So to Methodist I go! To get advice on wound care. I changed to 4 stars bc now I have spend more $$$ to fix this finger and more time in another waiting room. But ER's are not substitute for prolonged care. It's for emergencies only. There is no negative number to assign to this review so I'm forced to give it a 1. There's a reason why they have no lines. It's because the doctors sucks and so does the front desk. Don't walk in there with Covid and expect to be treated even if you're dying. They don't want you. All they want to do is ship you on to a hospital that can handle it. Dr. didn't even assess my girlfriend when they found out she had tested positive. Simply said, you need to go to the hospital. Wait this is a full service ER right? Crickets! Then they tried to claim we refused treatment! Never again! Don't waist your money or your time! I went to the clinic yesterday afternoon due to massive swelling in my feet and legs and shortness of breath. The nurse came to the room and told me she looked at my previous visit. She told me your in congestive heart failure. If we keep you will just transfer you out wherever we can find a bed. I ask her are you telling me to leave. She stated "Well if you where my mother..." I explain the insurance want pay if I leave. She the nurse stated no if I put on the chart noting was done. She also stated you need to go to Methodist in the medical center. And then said if you were my mother ". She told me let my husband drive me up there. She wasn't worried about the fact that I drove myself to clinic. This is called DUMPING."in the medical field and it's illegal who would I turn this so that it gets to corporate. I don't think anyone should be treated like this. We brought in a sick baby; knew something was wrong but not sure what. They could have stopped after some obvious tests, written a prescription for antibiotics, and sent us home. Instead, they did not stop until they found the problem, arranged transportation to Texas Children's Hospital for needed treatment, and told us to let them know how things went. They even promised to pray for us. read more

The nurses and doctors are very kind. Bedside manner is a 10/10 and they genuinely care about you and your story. The doctor is attentive and caring and will help you get back on your feet as quickly as possible. I was so hesitant to go to the ER for my back, but when I could no longer walk, I went in. If you can afford it... go here. We had the best service I've ever had at an emergency medical facility. There was no wait and everyone was so nice and attentive, especially our nurse. I absolutely loved her & I'm pretty sure my daughter (she's 5) loved her even more. They were great! We had to be there for a while getting labs/x-rays & then waiting on results so they moved 2 beds into a spacious & adorable kids room so we could be together. The facility was clean and the doctor was patient. He took time to explain everything, actually came in to check on us, give updates on our test results, and asked if we wanted something to eat or drink once the results came back.... I've never had that happen before. It made a bad situation so much more tolerable. Don't know about the billing yet so all I can do is hope there are no problems there but for now, they definitely get 5 stars from me. FYI: This is an ER, not an Urgent Care Facility. read more

I was awakened by the worst pains of my life. I felt like my entire uterus was on fire and was falling out of my body. I asked my boyfriend to take me to the emergency room and he took me here. From when I stumbled in until I hobbled out the staff was nothing but friendly, patient, and kind. It appeared that I was suffering from a ruptured ovarian cyst. From what I observed the place was very clean, and family friendly. I would definitely advise using this service in the time of a true emergency. If you must go to the emergency room go to Altus. Super fast and efficient. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful. We got right in with no wait. My daughter was passing a kidney stone. They did all of the necessary scans and tests and she was relieved of pain promptly. I hope we don't need their services again but will definitely go there if we do. read more

My wife had a good experience as she got in and out in about an hour to get a shot. BILLING BEWARE, this is considered an EMERGENCY center so you will be billed at your ER deductible. NOT urgent care. This meant that we paid for the entire bill, over $350, rather than being liable for a $75 deductible. Bottom line: quick, easy, but only use for real emergencies. read more

***Update: Altus did reduce their portion of the bill. The doctor did not. I have added a star but still recommend caution. Do not go to Altus Emergency Center unless you want to be ripped off. The amounts they charge are criminal. Be prepared to be charged $600 for a $16 velcro wrist brace (price verified with the manufacturer). They will charge you $500 to show you how to put on the Velcro wrist brace. The ER center will charge you $1,000 for the 30 minutes you are in their facility. The doctor on staff will charge you $1,000 for the 5 minutes he is with you. If you have insurance with a deductible they will not negotiate the highly inflated prices using a tactic called upcoding (saying your condition is more severe than it is so they can justify the ridiculous prices). The bottom line is, this is a corrupt company taking advantage of a flawed healthcare system. Do not go there unless you like throwing your money read more

I was on vacation in Surfside and got stung by a sting ray barb. Since I am not familiar with the area, I just googled urgent care clinics near by and it took me to Lake Jackson. I tried two urgent care clinics that said they couldn't help me and I just happened to drive by Altus. I was in so much pain that I decided I had to go even though it is an ER. I got in so fast and they immediately soaked my foot when I got stung to give it some relief. All of the nurses were so kind, thoughtful and really made you feel taken care of. I have never had such a great experience and felt so comfortable at a hospital before. I almost didn't want to leave! They got me in and out very quickly and I was totally pain free when I left. I would recommend them to anyone even over urgent care clinics even though it is expensive. They truly care. read more

Most caring ER I've ever been to. The place was spotless and the doctor was very attentive. I know most ERs are not in network but if it's an emergency the insurance must pay the claim. Do not be scared off by this. I've been to hospital ERs several times and waited with the worst of the worse in those waiting rooms. Hospitals are great but their ERs are too busy!! read more

Good care at a high price. My wife and I made the mistake of thinking this was an urgent care center. It's not. I hurt my back and needed some pain relief, got in saw the Dr. and was out in 30 minutes with a couple prescriptions. When the bill came the charges were 1588.00 and after adjustments I owe 397.00! My wife went in with some type of byte - the doctor looked at it and said not problem dont worry. They then had us sign a lot of forms and billed our insurance $1145 for a 10 min meeting with the doctor. They also told us that there would be a pre-screen to make sure we needed care - that never happened. This place is TOTAL RIP OFF !!! read more

Be very cautious of this place if you have insurance. Although they do give great care and have a very cute kids section, they are in NO ONE'S Network for insurance. If you need this place, at the minimum, check with your insurance company. Mistakenly my husband went there thinking it was an urgent care. He had an office visit and a storied shot. After I received the $2000 bill, I began making phone calls. The billing department informed me that they are in not in any network. She did say I didn't owe the full amount, that I only owe the amount my insurance would have covered had they been in network. Had I not called and complained, I would have been responsible for the full amount. Then she said she "fixed" it and I received 2 more bills that were still stating I still owed the $2000. We finally got it fixed after several calls by me. I wonder how many people just pay bc they think they can't fight it. Went for a stomach virus, got an IV and some nausea medicine. I do not have medical insurance and was charged $500, which I paid before leaving. A week later in the mail, I received a bill for the doctor for $1600. Are you kidding me, for a stomach virus?? BEWARE!
