This is the second time I am posting this review of Turner & Son Homes. My original review that was submitted on Google in April 2025, was removed from the platform without any notification or explanation. Because I believe in transparency and the right of consumers to share honest experiences, I am reposting on Yelp. I have also submitted a copy of this review, along with the date of reposting, to the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office for documentation.
I regret hiring Turner & Son Homes and cannot recommend them. We paid nearly $700,000 for what turned out to be poor craftsmanship, unprofessional behavior, and terrible communication.
I left a negative review on Turner & Son's Facebook page during the first week of April 2025. Another customer commented, sharing that they were experiencing many of the same problems. When I revisited the page on April 11, my review--and all other reviews--had been removed. Turner & Son had disabled the ability to leave reviews altogether. If a builder hides negative feedback instead of addressing it, that should be a serious red flag.
Craftsmanship Issues:
The interior paint job was unacceptable--uneven coverage, sloppy caulking, overspray, drips, and texture issues. Despite repeated complaints, it was never fixed. I paid $34K out of pocket to have it redone by a professional. Even Turner's own subcontractor commented on how bad it looked.
Flooring was also a mess. LVP was improperly glued, corners were poorly trimmed, and sand left under the flooring made it awkward to walk on. After I complained, the PM said he would not quality check the flooring install while it was being done.
Because he would not be there, I spent another $2,400 to fix it.
Communication Problems:
Our project manager was often unresponsive, slow to reply, and, at times, adversarial. For example, when the flooring was damaged during installation, the PM asked us to take pictures while he was on vacation--even though the floors were covered in plywood and butcher paper. I asked for help; none was sent.
No Access to Trades:
Turner prohibits homeowners from talking directly to tradespeople. With the PM rarely onsite, this caused delays and allowed poor-quality work to go unchecked. Promises to "make it right" often made things worse.
Disrespect and Safety Concerns:
On one occasion, I asked the painters to use tape to protect adjacent walls while working on the stair railing. They had already damaged the railing by sanding off the wood grain, requiring replacement. Instead of addressing the issue, the painters called the PM, who threatened to stop all work unless we filtered all complaints through him after they caused damage. The tone was disrespectful, and my concerns were clearly unwelcome.
I reported this to the BBB. Mr. Turner responded by citing second-hand reports that I had "berated subcontractors." For context: the painters in question were extremely young (possibly 20-21 years old) and clearly not seasoned professionals. Out of desperation, I reached out to the realtor who sold us the land--and who had recommended Turner & Son--she contacted Tim Turner. The very next day, the PM arrived to replace several ruined railing posts.
It took more than two months for Turner & Son to send someone to fix the upstairs railing that was not secure. My young children were not allowed to go upstairs during this time unassisted due to the risk of injury and falling. This negligence speaks volumes.
Other Issues:
Uneven flooring with visible dips
Trash piles still in the yard after 6+ weeks of occupancy
Update - In June, 2025, the exterior stone was replaced ($13,500 out of pocket) because it was so beginning to fall off the house, very uneven and not stacked flush. The trade who installed the new stone said that there were many spots that were lacking mortar, causing the stone to fall off.
As a recently retired Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, I believe I have a fair sense of character and competency. I'm not writing this review out of spite--I simply want to warn others. A quality builder should take pride in their work, hold their trades accountable, and respond respectfully to client concerns. Turner & Son did none of these things.
I told Tim Turner directly that I regretted hiring his company. He said nothing.
