Great private little college located in a nice, quiet residential location. They have satellite locations but I have only been to this one

So fun to be back on campus again, this time with my own kid as my colleague!…read more We took the 3-day Neuroanatomical Dissection course, taught by the Health Sciences faculty, and had a blast. We were so well looked after!! Thanks, Marquette!

I would not recommend Marquette University unless your student gets a full ride scholarship. I had…read moretwo girls go to Marquette and after paying close to $150k each for Biological Sciences degrees they're getting job offers for $21/hr?!? They have experienced/learned nothing regarding stem cell research due to the fact that Marquette is a religious school. COVID threw a wrench in their studies but there wasn't ANY preparation for jobs and the real world. Nothing helping them get internships whatsoever. My girls would have gone in as Jr's but Marquette doesn't accept any AP scores for credit for any classes regarding their majors, being in the "honors" program NONE of their AP scores counted for even CORE classes. Friends kids went to IIT and graduated in 4 yrs with their Masters degrees. Honors degrees mean NOTHING. I could have saved the $ by them going in as Jr's or they could have received Masters or double Majors at any other school. Forget trying to get into the dental program unless someone in the family is already a dentist or dr. Just about every student accepted into this program has a family member who is already or family has donated $$ to the school. On top of that Milwaukee is getting more and more dangerous. The Citgo gas station on State between 15th & 16th is prob one of the worst areas to be. Shootings weekly if not more often, most if the student apartments are in this area just 1/2 block south. My daughters were in a club and came out to find a crime scene roped off because someone had been shot right outside and had no clue this was going on. They had to walk two blocks through it to get to their Uber rides! Guidance counselors are a joke. Mentors are a joke. No support no guidance no help, just a minimal undergrad worth $21/hr that you can make at your local Walmart without having to spend $150k for the basically useless degree

This school is a mixed bag for me…read more On one hand, the excel at certain things, like hiring good teachers and having awesome tutoring programs to help you out when you eventually need it. I've had some of my best teachers ever here and most are very caring, attentive and informative. On the other hand, the administration is the absolute most frustrating thing about this place. When you eventually need them, they're nowhere to be found. Dean's, Advisor's, Head's of whatever, it doesn't matter. You can't reach them on the phone and they always want you to come in, yet you come in and they're not there people ask "Why didn't you call and make an appointment?" My wife also attends and is currently doing an online program while she works a midday shift Monday through Friday, and they always want her to come in for something. Just recently it was because the bank called her to let her know she was delinquent on her school loans, even though she is currently taking classes here. When she called, no one answered. When she finally got a hold of someone, they told her to come in. Between teachers and Administrators that need her to come in for something over the course of the school year, she barely has enough vacation time to cover, and she gets weeks of vacation. Why have an online school when you have to do everything in person? It doesn't make sense. Otherwise, the facilities at this location are good. The parking lots are a little confusing and a hike from the building, but everything else is clean, decent and the cafeteria is ok.

I've since filed more complaints as it's STILL not fixed & doesn't allow me to register for the class I need to take. No one is responding from the board or from the financial department itself. Completely ridiculous!

This school was perfect for me. I am WELS so i do have to say that helped my faith to be further…read moresupported after moving away from my parents and moving on to college 2 hrs from home. If you are not WELS, you are not alone. Over 50% of the student population considers themselves non-els or wels. It's true that gay and lesbian students would have a harder time adjusting but the school is definitely not against them and welcomes them the same. I had some friends there who were and they felt the conflicting belief system difficult at times but they suffered no oppression from teachers or peers. I went here for 5 years for a triple major in early/middle childhood edu, secondary foreign language edu, and German. The tuition really wasn't bad at all. There is so much financial assistance through the school which i think many don't realize. It is based on your ACT scores and grade point from high school like many other schools. They also offer scholarships for art, music, and theatre. When i traveled abroad for German credits, i was greatly assisted by the school for that too. The profs were fantastic. I felt like each one went above and beyond for each individual. I have lasting professional relationships with many and contact them every so often if i need ideas or help for anything. Even in this economy, i was hired by a school district before i even graduated for the fall. The edu program is especially rigorous and i was more than prepared for the complicated but rewarding career of teaching. Though a new teacher, i often share great ideas with master teachers and feel knowledgeable in many important areas. The dorms and apartments were pretty nice, esp compared to other schools. I thought they were good and if something needed fixing, Johnson controls was on it fast. The food is amazing. They have a fairly newly renovated cafeteria and the chefs are friendly and make things right to order. Students who can't eat gluten are limited, but if you let the kitchen know they can make sure you have options. One of my friends there had celiac's disease and they were accommodating. There are also constant activities on campus so there is always something to do whenever you need a break from homework. With about 1,000 students and a growing population, it's enough to meet many new people but also still get to know a good number of students personally. It was important for me to know many people who i see everyday - if you like that feeling too, it's a good fit. For me, i couldn't have attended a better college for my needs. I loved every minute of my time there and miss it frequently.
