When he does show up, he doesn't allow them to speak for longer than a few minutes without interrupting. Even though he is an intern, he has no professionalism at all. He has scheduled appointments without their knowledge, and gotten upset when they didn't show up. He doesn't listen to them, or ask professional questions ; His questions are always trying to learn more for his own personal benefit and never to ask questions to help better them and their personal growth. A session they had recently he asked them how they know of their own existence after having knowledge of them having psychosis and not always knowing if they or anyone else truly exists. Not once has he tried to help them learn coping skills, or give guidance. He consistently tells them he doesn't understand their open relationship, mental illness, and so much more they struggle with daily. My friend has told me on multiple occasions, they never want to attend sessions with him, or anyone else anymore due to the experiences with him. He has not once helped them grow or get better, and since seeing him, I can see them getting worse, closing off, and letting their agoraphobia get so much worse. They tend to end the sessions upset, frustrated, and feeling extremely unheard, unseen, and forgotten about. Do yourself a favor if you are thinking of seeing him as a therapist, and go find someone else. He isn't worth the energy and stress.

I would highly recommend speaking to someone like Tom, because he is nice and will allow me to ramble on and just get out any issues I'm facing. It's so much better than dumping my emotions on my friends and plus, Tom is trained to handle it. Speaking with Tom enables me to be a better friend to everyone else in my life.

My oldest son is the patient being seen here and needs some outside advise to help the grief process. He is finally ready to begin this journey and this is the reason for the visit. When we pulled into the parking lot the outside building where the psychiatrist is located it is gorgeous. It has that Southern mansion feel to it. The designers used great detail and thought on the building. The office is located inside on the lower floor. Their office has a modern looking waiting area with current magazine too. I can catch up on the latest summer tips from InStyle and the fairytale wedding from England. The chairs in the waiting area are current with the times and very stylish. The admin assistant of the office was very friendly greeting us and assisting with the paperwork. The art work on the walls is very tasteful and inspiring to look at. The whole atmosphere of the office is a fabulous upscale place to enjoy from patient or staff here. The psychiatrist was very helpful and welcomed us to the appointment. I felt less awkward after the greeting were out of the way. This was a productive step and I did feel that the doctor listened to all our issues. He provided ways in which my son can move forward. The doctor was empathetic and did not play the blame game with any issues of pain that we are struggling with. Dr. J Wood was professional in all ways and seems to understand that we need to seek outside help to make us whole again. He is not quick to medicate either. The solutions that he is suggesting are easy strategies that we can incorporate over time. Look forward to the next time we visit.
