The occupational therapist as well as the physical therapist were encouraging. Second time was a back fusion 29 staples from my shoulders to my lower back. The nurse again was phenomenal, occupational therapist and physical therapist are incredible. I am blessed to have had such caring,kind, knowledgeable,and professional care team thank you all.

The first nurse told me I'd have to dress my own wound. Due to the location I was unable to do this. I got a second nurse who upon discharge was telling me " you're capable of a lot more. Keep in mind Ive suffered a stroke 30 years ago and it's not good for me to try going to the bathroom in pain. The Home Health Aid, took my bedside commode to the garage without asking permission. I had to go down two flights of stairs and return it to my bedroom. In my original service plan. There were provisions to empty the garage etc. My aide got upset on Friday January 31, 2025 because I explained I'd left my laundry at the top of the stairs. She got upset saying that "Friday is a chill day." I was actually taken aback because she was so nasty. The following Monday I called the company to say I don't need help because I was having a panic attack. Fast forward to Monday of this week. I'd left a note on my fridge saying I don't want to talk. I left her a list of what I needed done. Keep in mind that she's been doing these since October of last year. She called her supervisor to say she doesn't know what to do and she's staying downstairs in my house. I called to apologize for any miscommunication. When the call was returned there was another supervisor placing me on speaker phone yelling about why I left the note. Their employees need to be drug tested. How do you tell a company that your employee is smoking before they come to work? I know it's legal in Delaware. However you're not supposed to be smoking while you're working. That incident resulted in my services being reviewed and terminated. My trash hasn't been taken out in three days. I'm just thankful that she's leaving on Friday. The Saturday person is a professional caring person who has supported me with what I asked her to help me with.

I had to get some STAT (meaning same day) bloodwork done while I was out of town so I decided to go…read moreto this hospital. I actually went to the the Labcorp located in the adjacent building first, but they said that they couldn't do the bloodwork stat so they said I should go to the hospital so that is where I went. The bloodwork order said it was needed stat, unfortunately it was not processed until late that night, after my doctor's office was closed which rendered the results useless. When I called Tower Health billing I was met with negativity as the customer service person said that I was charged for the blood being drawn. That isn't necessarily true since it was supposed to be stat and wasn't processed as such. Next, I called the hospital lab and the only good thing about this entire transaction was talking to Jane who was sympathetic to my situation. She passed my case along to the manager who then called me back. She said that they don't do those types of tests in house so it had be sent away which explains the late delivery. I wish I would have known this fact at the time of draw. If it was going to be sent away to another lab and not sent stat I would have gone somewhere else who could do it stat, or gone back to the Labcorp where the bloodwork would have been fully covered by my insurance. She also said that the person who drew my blood was new and she didn't know the protocol. It sucks that I had to be a lesson learned and that I was the one that suffered the consequences. And then stressed that my bill was "only $50" which I thought was insensitive since 1) she does not know my financial situation and 2) it would have been free if I went to Labcorp. I feel sorry for the person this happens to if they have to pay out of pocket since the cost for the bloodwork was $1,208. In conclusion, I learned that if you need healthcare outside of where you usually go, you have to be hypervigilant and an advocate on the front end because clearly the medical system is not looking out for you.

I had very little information, and was in a bit of a state, understandably. Thankfully, my confused and panicked phone call was answered with helpful information and patience. I was also able to convey medical information about the individual, as their job was unable to provide such information. Someone was even so kind as to bring the phone to the person so I could speak with them directly, as they were put in the ambulance without their phone or any personal belongings.

They would forget to give her medications. Final straw was when my mother was left is heart distress for over 12 hours. Staff ignored her cry's of chest pain. My mother has been at FVB Independent Living for over seven years. We've been happy with her care…read moreand the facility. There are plenty of activities and the facility is beautiful. I would only recommend FVB if you protect your loved one and have an attorney look at your contract and beware of any promises. My mother was invited by Freedom Village to enroll in their "hardship" program in 2023. She went through their vigorous eligibility program and was approved. Both the facility and Corporate approved her request. She was approved again the following year and was granted additional funds. To our shock and dismay, after an audit last year my mother was told that she had to repay the funds and they increased her monthly payment substantially. They blamed the issue on us and took no responsibility for their change of heart. They changed the rules two years in and we had no standing due to a clause in the contract. They threatened to sue us if we didn't pay by the end of the year. Since we have so much money and time invested in this place, we have no choice but to keep my mother there.
