This is my second visit to the Nordic spa and I'm delighted to note that they fixed many of the issues I had concerns about during the first visit. We came during the local Alaska resident discount period, which made the massage price feel more approachable. As always, Sandra and the other massage therapists were wonderful. Compared to my last visit, the facilities seemed in perfect order. No buildings or pools were closed for maintenance, there were no obvious defects (rust, peeling paint, broken shower handles) etc that I noted throughout our day here. Love the aesthetics of the spa and my massage was perfect! Locker room was a bit crowded and could use extra robes in different sizes. Loved how big the saunas were; the heat was perfect. The cold pools were especially cold - particularly with a single digit weather. The private hot tubs in the forest really leaned into the nature component of the spa. Nordic Spa was magical. Although others had mixed reviews, we went on a weekday--April 1st--and it was quiet, allowing us to fully enjoy all the pools, jacuzzis, cold plunges, and more. The salt scrub was the perfect finishing touch. Note: Bring your own water bottle, or you'll end up paying a high price for a plastic one onsite--or relying on the small 3 oz paper cups provided inside for hydration. read more

What a great place for a red eye flight to hang out for the whole day! I come here frequently, it is worth every penny. Even if you don't stay at the resort, it's so relaxing. If your an Alaska resident check out there massage and day pass! Sooooo worth it. My favorite are the barrels. I happened to come when 11 inches of snow fell and it felt unreal. Between the giant snow flakes and snow falling off the trees it was amazing! I got to build about 20 tiny snowman and eat snow while melting in the hot tubs. I have been here during summer just as amazing. Although winter you can enjoy it during the night time. You won't be disappointed if your into the hot and cold tubs. read more

The hydrotherapy pools were new to me, but a very enjoyable experience overall. A few were not functional. The food at the bistro was surprisingly very, very good. I'm giving Alyeska Nordic Spa 3 stars for price and cleanliness. I thought it was a bit pricey and not as clean as it could be. I also assumed (erroneously) that since this was a health spa, they wouldn't use chlorine in the water. They seem to have salt water (as I was pretty buoyant), but chlorine too (as I could smell it). We went on a Thursday for the Twilight soak. There were a lot of guests there, but not so much that it felt too crowded or that we had to wait to get where we wanted to go. The shower and locker room were very clean, well lit, and well staffed. The towels were thick and awesome. They also provide slippers and a robe for modesty and warmth. There are hot, cold, and tepid pools as well as multiple saunas. I loved the ones in the forest. When you're done, they give you salt with orange essential oils to exfoliate and moisturize the skin. That smelled really good. We had a good time, but I'd think about the value before doing it again. For me, it's like a "been there, done that" type of thing. The spa is a 4/5 and the food is a 3/5 and the drinks are a 4/5. This is where i spent my 25th birthday and I truly had a blast. I do wish the steam room was working though. Other than that, I love how everything you need is included in the facility. The sauna barrels are really cool and it's just a lovely experience. I would love to come back maybe in the winter time to experience the hot tubs surrounded by snow. The food is pretty good, but it's definitely not crazy top tier quality. My first "real," spa experience! A time was had. I made same day reservations for Alyeska's Friday Night "Twilight Soak," for $108/pp. The package included all access to the spa's hydrotherapy amenities (pools, saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, exfoliation room) and their in-house restaurant, from 5pm-9pm. Basically everything but a massage. The steam rooms are closed for repair. Be aware, as we weren't, the Day Spa does not have its own parking situation. Come prepared, as we weren't, to walk a country mile and possibly in the dark (currently no snow in Anchorage bowl). I stupidly forgot my suit at the BNB and instead of going thru the entire parking fiasco again, I opted to purchase Alyeskas $84 suit...I know, but what could I do?! At least you know it's an option. They also sold lots of other clothing / spa enhancing items FYI. The women's locker room included any thing you could need, down to deodorant and qtips. There is constant staff inside and outside. The cleaning staff aren't the most friendly but still very helpful. You're given a wrist band with your locker number. You use your wristband to lock and unlock -- amazing! Sorry, first timer excitement here. You're provided with a robe (I knew that), and slippers (I didn't know that). We wore Crocs and fell during the walk in lol It was raining and therefore, freezing! Boooo! We opted out of every cold option. We stuck to the saunas and hot tubs. There were a variety. There are robe hanging areas everywhere and lay out spots (when it's not freeze raining). There are hot forest tubs and cold forest tubs FYI, look at the signs (written temps = hot tub, snowflake drawing = cold tub). They had water + refill stations in most areas, thankfully. Unfortunately, last call at the restaurant is 7pm-ish. Since the spa doesn't close till 9pm, they should extend those hours, at least for the bar area. Spa staff "encouraged," you to end your soak by 830pm as the "showers get busy,"....they didn't get busy FYI. Also, the firepits were turned off by 8:30pm...take all of this into consideration if you do a Twilight Soak. Since you can arrive anytime after 5pm, try not to be too late, because your last hour is cut AND there's no restaurant/bar access past 730pm-ish. All in all, I would return for another twilight OR morning soak. But likely the latter. Taking into consideration everything I've learned my first time around, I know my 2nd experience will be better. read more

We came with a large group to enjoy a soak and spent 5 hours of bliss trying out the various hot and cold temperatures. The exterior is beautiful and there are several hot and cold soaking tubs intermingled with saunas throughout the property. We ate below in the casual dining area and were served by a lovely bartender who mixed beautiful fruit based tonics and cocktails. I highly recommend the tuna poke bowl for both value and flavor. Alyeska is a beautiful spa. I can only imagine that it will look and sound even better when their construction is complete. read more

This place was a huge letdown, especially for the price. The owners come across as greedy and snooty, and it shows in how little they seem to care about actual customer experience. We booked a Diamond Room, yet there were no robes in the room. We asked for some and never received them. Plus the luxury spa charging these prices, that's unacceptable. Service overall was lacking... the staff friendliness was almost nonexistent, with the only pleasant interactions coming from the housekeeping staff. The spa itself is massively overpriced. The massage was short, mediocre, and absolutely not worth the cost. You can get a far better massage in town for much less. On top of that, they ruined one of the best features with the remodeling.. the massage rooms used to overlook the slopes, which was part of the appeal. Now they're enclosed, uncomfortable, and stripped of the atmosphere that once made this place special. I've been a long-time member, which makes this even more disappointing. Since the new owners took over, Alyeska has clearly gone downhill... higher prices, worse service, and a noticeable lack of care for guests. The spa in specific feels like nothing more than overpriced hype at this point. Honestly, the only reason to go to Alyeska anymore is skiing. Skip the Nordic Spa.. it's not worth your money, time, or expectations. read more

Came for the 5-9 pm slot. Had issues with the website on 2 different computers trying to make the reservation. Could not locate a phone number by found it on the fb site. Called and they were able to book the reservation. It did take 2 days to receive the confirmation email. At the spa waiting to take a shower in the women's locker room was long as the people leaving and the newly arrived guests happened at the same time. We went to the forrest area first and the hot tubs were full so did a sauna. As we left a tub opened up. It was very relaxing sitting under the trees and being in nature. We then went to the salt sauna. It is quite large and has different levels to sit to experience level of heat. After that spent time in 2 of the relaxation pools with different degrees of heat. Family member spent time in the steam room too. The package included robe, towel and exfoliation scrub. They have towel drop areas inside and a desk to pick up new dry towels. Picked up 2 towels before going to the showers and needed one for my clothes on the shower bench, no hangers. It is pricey but worth a splurge felt like so relaxed and a wet noodle leaving. read more

The spa at Alyeska Nordic was an amazing experience. The 5pm-9pm plunge is the most spectacular experience. The bistro at the spa is the best restaurant at the resort, I had the salad with tofu and the margarita. Hands down amazing. I do wish they offered nuts/cookies and a better check-in staff that explains where you can sit, use your phones. It's unfortunate you can use your phone for reading books due to cameras etc out in the pool areas. The overall experience is 4/5. The need improvement with staff being more experienced, knowledgeable and friendly. Also highly recommended snacks at the cost we are paying. Cheap spas do this. This place is great and I would go again in a heartbeat. Pros: it's a very nice spa!the forest loop area was a really nice experience, there were extra towels positioned in good spots, the interior was beautiful and you can get a bite, a coffee, a drink, etc. It was one of the very best massages I've ever had (I've had a lot!) (Bill was my masseuse) the salt scrub made my skin feel amazing! (It's advised to do that step last) the seating areas in the spa area looked inviting Cons: I couldn't book online via my phone or laptop for some reason it wasn't scrolling down to finish the booking so had to call. I was on hold for 36 minutes before it was picked up and it took and 15 minutes from there due to system lags and 'creating a profile'. The robes don't have pockets and felt kind of cheap and due to the volume that day we couldn't request dry robes to change out so be careful to not get it too wet (that wasn't easy on the extremely rainy day we were there). I came on a Saturday it was pretty busy. We had to wait for room to open in the steam sauna specifically and in many places there wasn't enough room on the robe hangers for all robes. One of the pools had numbered hooks which was helpful since all robes look the r same I imagine it'd be easy to get confused which was which after a soak. Overall we spent 6 hrs there. The parking is confusing and it's a quite a walk to the spa so prepare for that. We parked down below to the left in parking lot A or F. read more

A disappointing visit to the hydrotherapy spa and a massage. We were on vacation in Alaska and had Alyeska Nordic Spa as a top spot to visit. When we arrived, the front desk charged us incorrectly and needed to run a second charge to correct their mistake. Their steam room was closed for maintenance, and in turn, they gave us a 15% off discount. Which was fine, but I was disappointed. When we went out to the spa, the disappointment continued -- there was a ton of construction and landscape going on. How are you expected to relax with the sound of an excavator and landscapers hammering stakes into the ground? You could even hear it through the sauna rooms. ‍ Eventually, we went to get massages. My massage therapist was very enthusiastic, but when the massage started, I didn't realize that he had put gloves on until it started pulling at my skin. I didn't know if the gloves were PPE that Alaska required and felt weird asking. After, I asked my friend if she had any issues with her massage therapist, and she said no and was surprised to hear that mine wore gloves the whole time. Needless to say, it felt like a waste of $200. read more

The best deal for the Nordic Spa is Wednesday evening twilight soak from 5 til close which I think was $59pp when we were there a few weeks ago. You'll get access to the various warm and hot soaking tubs, cold plunges, sauna and steam rooms, and relaxation areas, and you can also add on massage services for an additional charge. It was busy but didn't seem overcrowded on our visit. We never did get a turn in the wooden tubs (small and popular, and they close an hour earlier than the rest of the spa), but the grounds are pretty expansive, and it wasn't hard to find room elsewhere in the rotation. They provide a lovely salt scrub for each guest, as well as towels, robes, and sandals. The tea and infused waters were nice also. Wish they had water/tea stations outside also so you don't have to walk back inside to rehydrate. I think my only real complaint about our visit was how hard it was to find the damn place. The road signs aren't very helpful, and the parking lot they direct you to is a bit of a haul uphill to the spa from there without any directions. They advise arriving 20 minutes ahead of your appointment, and maybe this is to give you the opportunity to find them. Anyway, if you park in the lower lots, you can cross the road and head to the resort. From there you can take the elevator or stairs up to the tram, and the spa is across the roundabout from there. We arrived flustered but thankfully left feeling much more relaxed. read more

I already know that I'll be coming back multiple times this year alone as I finally was able to try this wonderful spa out myself. I had a signature nordic massage that is 60min (no other choice) and utilized the saunas and cold/hot pools outdoors.. just wow! The massage probably could've done without the bamboo slap stick therapy, but if you like that.. then ok. There are no phones/cameras allowed in the spa areas so unfortunately couldn't take a picture of the views outside which is breathtaking when you're in the pools/saunas. I love it, it offers a full disconnect from technology. I came on a Tuesday afternoon (weekends are too busy)-- and stayed THE whole time ~ 8pm-ish. Plan ahead and free up your whole evening when you have a chance to come here to unwind, because once you leave the facilities.. you'll need to pay for re-entry. There are showers and lockers inside (very clean!). I love that they had disposable hairbrushes/combs, lotion, and quality hairdryers available to use. Towels and robes are provided.. but not for keeps! If you love being outdoors and relaxing-- i advise you to come and try them out.. You can order food, alcoholic bevs, non-alcoholic bevs for purchase inside. There is a tea/water station for free. This is such a treat and all a fantastic addition to Alaska. Thanks Alyeska! Booked myself a massage at the new Alyeska Nordic Spa. I got a "60 minute Nordic Signature". I would have liked a longer massage but I didn't see that option on the menu. The facility is unbelievably beautiful, and the massage rooms are the most cozy & alluring ones I've ever seen. My massage therapist gave me a very good massage. However she never asked if the pressure was too weak or too strong, and so I felt at the end I wished I'd asked for more pressure to really get the kinks out of my sore body. Still it was quite nice, and I especially enjoyed the tapping sticks. I never felt those before. Access to the outdoor pools and saunas comes with any massage. (Awesome deal since pool access alone is $100+) The outside area is very scenic, especially in the winter with all the snow covered spruce surrounding. I went straight for the hottest pool and while it felt wonderful to soak in the pool with all the jacuzzi jets, I wished it had been much, much hotter! Our hot tub at home runs at 104 degrees F, and this water temperature was well below that. I also tried the sauna huts, which each have lava rock covered stoves in them, and smell of sweet cedar. Amazing. Sooo relaxing. This is the warmth I had been seeking on the cold February day I visited. I didn't try the cold plunge pools (I was too cold) but I saw other people enjoying them after emerging from the steam rooms. All in all I liked that this is adults only (18+) and it's completely private & secluded from any outside eyes. One last thing to note is re-entry is not permitted, so you'll want to make a day of this spa experience. read more

Such a beautiful ambiance and a grand resort, nestled in the beautiful little town of Girdwood. I had the best massage of my entire life. I cried because I felt so wonderful. I had just played in a hockey tournament and my body was wrecked. This spa is pure luxury. What's there not to say about this amazing place. I don't care what anybody says, I've been here twice, once in November and once in December and it's pretty much heaven for me! The only thing missing for me is beautiful women walking around feeling me grapes while I soak in the hot tub and take in the views. I really enjoyed the ice cold and warm/hot pools. Although it can get cold being that it's all outdoors, that's all part of the experience and actually helped me feel relaxed. The facility itself was very clean and I really enjoyed sitting in some hot tubs under the trees in the rainforest. I wonder how many people know there's a rainforest in Alaska? Since part of the experience is leaving your phone locked up in your locker, I couldn't get any inside photos of this magical place so you gotta experience it for yourself to know! read more

The "forest tubs" were all cold, the steam sauna was closed- and apparently has been for over a year- , the robes are tatty polyester and if yours if wet, too bad. Peeling paint, rubbed through flooring, sauna doors that don't close, rusty metal, and the "woodland views" are a tyvek covered cabin that looks like it's been under construction for a while. The concept is amazing! The parking is horrible. You have to walk about 3/4 of a mile after parking your car. Not handicap accessible at all. Once in the spa you can't leave and come back. So don't forget anything in your car that you might need. The massage was ok 4/10. Definitely cookie cutter and rushed. I got shorted 15 min. Don't be fooled by what the temperature says on the pools. The hot pools were about 10 degrees cooler than the sign stated. The steam rooms they advertised are not open. The hotel and spa are not connected ....and they don't communicate with each other. if you are looking for a true "resort experience " skip the spa and just use the hotel pools. read more

Same massage on a different day doesn't warrant a "peak time" IMO. Very nice place to relax. They have all kinds of spa activities like massage, hydrotherapy, steam rooms, etc. you can book a stay and spa day or get a day pass. As you come in, they give you a locker key bracelet. In your locker you find a very nice robe, towel, scrub and flip flops. It opens from 9to9 and the one thing I didn't like is that you cannot go out and re-enter. So if you get a bit tired you either have to go to the Bistro or be done. The hot-cold pools are great. They have different temperatures to skip from one to another. And alternate between steam rooms and saunas. There is a smaller forest area with barrel-like hot tubs and barrel saunas. It is all outdoors. We came in a day in February and the weather was really great for a place like this. Snow was falling all day, steam coming out of each pool, and nice warm water to relax and enjoy. I will definitely come back. read more

This was a disappointing first visit. I had heard rave reviews from several people and decided to go with two friends to celebrate our birthdays which all occur within a couple weeks of each other. Our reservations for massages and full day hydrotherapy were booked several weeks in advance. Our credit cards were required to hold the reservations. On the drive to the spa the day of our appointments, one of my friends was called to be told that there was an issue with her reservation and her massage was canceled. As this is my review and not hers, I will not include her experience, only to share that I never received such a call. Upon arrival at the spa we were all told "I'm sorry, but we are not able to offer you a massage today. We are able to offer you free hydrotherapy and a discount on a massage on another day". Each time we asked what the issue was, we received a different response paired with the same initial statement. It varied from IT issues, double bookings, etc. We asked how they determined which appointments they kept since we had made ours so far in advance, but were given no concrete answers. We asked if we had been the ones who had canceled the day of, would we have been charged the full amount since we had been required to supply our credit cards, again no real answer, just the original broken record, "I'm sorry, but we are not able to offer you a massage today. We are able to offer you free hydrotherapy and a discount on a massage on another day". Since we had driven all the way from Anchorage, and had planned the birthday celebration for weeks, we elected to take them up on the complimentary hydrotherapy and stay for the day. Upon entering the ladies locker room, I was originally impressed with the locker room wristband and light decor. But, once I opened my locker my impression changed. The robe was not the high end spa robe I was expecting. It was a flimsy plaid flannel with no pockets, that became quite damp after just one pool experience. The pools were nice, but not really anything special. I certainly would not have felt like I had gotten my money's worth had I paid $109 for the experience. The salt sauna was ok, and the other area was closed for maintenance. Again, nothing really all that great. Things went downhill at the end. When I went to shower, the shower was filthy. The floor was covered with hair, and the ceiling was peeling. The spa itself is not old enough to already be falling apart. The shampoo and conditioner are not of a quality I would expect to find at a spa that charges over $100 just to use the hot tubs. If the Nordic Spa wants to be considered a luxury spa experience, they are going to have up their game, regarding both their atmosphere and their customer service. read more

Love the spa, went for the 4th time this year! The place is crazy relaxing and is just what you need after a day on the slopes. I went today, and ran into the best waitress ever again! Olivia!!! She is the kindest, most wholesome waiter I've ever had. She remembers me, my career-field, my friends even with months in between visits. She is so knowledgeable about the cafe menu and is super diligent to attending guests. I'm always excited to return and see Olivia! You won't regret a visit to Alyeska spa, it's a great price for what you get. Best to get there early and enjoy the boardwalk and stay as long as you can :) read more

Not worth the hype, sadly. The staff is the rudest most unprofessional group of people I've dealt with. When we arrived about 12:30pm on a Wednesday, there was 2 parties ahead of my husband and I and only 1 person at the Check in. Overhearing- the staff told the party that there was no record of their massages they booked even tho there was emailed confirmations. So that was concerning. Then after about a 10 minute wait, someone else came to help and hurried the 2nd party along. We got helped finally and the guy was not welcoming, didn't thank us for waiting, didn't say hello just said "Next!" And I told him my name and he goes "wanna pay for it on the credit card on file?" Asked if I had been there before and I said no. He quickly said, "here is your locker. All the stuff you need will be in your locker. Sign these forms." Like not welcoming at all and no customer service at all. Got to our lockers and changed and went to get a drink. Sat at the Bistro bar and ordered some drinks and a frittata to share. We got our drinks quickly. However after 20 minutes, the waitress came back once and asked for another round of drinks which again came quickly. After another 20 minutes (40 minutes total!) we were starving and went upto the waitress and asked when we could expect our food. The waitress didn't even apologize and said, "oh we are busy. You still have other orders ahead of you tho." And didn't apologize didn't explain and didn't communicate any of this. We just asked for our bill and to cancel the food at that point. The hydra therapy experience was very nice and relaxing. Kinda crowded tho even for a Wednesday. The different hot and cold areas were fun and unique and thoroughly enjoyed. The Barrel Sauna was the favorite along with the Exfoliation Cabin and the salt scrub. Tbh I probably won't be back here mainly cuz of the rude staff. The place is expensive in general but the staff put a very bad taste in my mouth that to fork up the amount of money we did I want a full relaxation experience. Even when I went to change back into my clothes the locker room attendant about ran me over and shoved my stuff out of her way because she was trying to clean another locker. Like at least say excuse me and work around me. I just felt super rushed to get dressed and get out of her way. Final interaction with staff ended poorly as well. EPIC FAIL...Was not "HOT" Luke warm at best...and the Hot tubs were filthy....I paid 40 bucks in gas to drive there, almost 250.00 for 2 people for hydrotherapy...I told 3 different people who worked there and no one did anything...no refund, no coupon , nothing, I am local who's EPICALLY disappointed...I will not be returning to this facility nor do I recommend it...if you want a Luke warm hot tub with out the ridiculous amount of money or the wasted drive... just go to H2Oasis and save yourself and spouse the disappointment read more

Maintenance is lacking, steam room literally rusting and falling apart, broken shower heads and handles, not enough space to hang robes at the hot pools, over-priced, several hot tubs out of order. Best part is your not allowed to have your phone so it's not possible to post pictures of everything that's broken, rusting, and falling apart and you don't know how bad it is until you're already there. Watch out! It's a mandatory 18% gratuity when you check in! I had received a gift card which I was anxious to use. My sister and I decided to splurge and take an afternoon at the spa. We had booked massages for both of us and use of the spa. Imagine our disappointment when we had to pay an 18% gratuity BEFORE we received the service! That set the tone for the rest of our time. We are not short, but both of us received the lockers that were just out of reach to open. That meant we had to just stuff our clothes in the bottom of the locker. We're not that short, but that was really inconvenient. We had to exchange our robes as they were too small and one of us received slippers for two left feet. The masseuse I used was clearly a newbie as she didn't really find just the right muscles, focusing mostly on bones. My sister said her masseuse was the same way. Which we both thought was weird. The only thing that the booking people said when we called is that you cannot cancel less than 24 hours in advance, or they will charge your credit card for the full amount, so be aware of that. The rest of the stay was pleasant. The place was very busy for a Sunday, but still clean, for which we were grateful. At the luxury prices and mandatory gratuity I doubt I'll be going again very soon. read more

Prices are raised and facilities are dirty. Dirty facilities during my last visit. Visible grime around the hot tubs, and dirt in the saunas. I actually contracted a bacterial skin infection which is thought to be from their hot tubs! maybe all of the maintenance happens at night, but I don't notice a single staff worker cleaning or rounding on the outdoor facilities during my 6 hour stay. read more

loved our massages at the spa! zach was great! staff is very friendly and attentive. the rest of the spa was super super busy! we did go on a sunday, so definitely to be expected but just more crowded than i thought it would be. they supply you with a locker, robe, towel, and a complimentary body scrub for post spa shower. no phones!! they enforce the rule heavily! read more

Such a lovely place to get away and relax! The price is very reasonable for the experience. All of the employees were extremely helpful and friendly, the facilities were clean and beautiful and I have never felt more refreshed. If I lived closer I would go here often and will travel to come back! read more
