Picture it--invited to be in a wedding, and you're asked to wear a very pale lavender dress.....and the color against your ghost white skin is ghastly. You're a winter, dangit! You're not supposed to wear pastels!!! Mind racing for a solution. You're sick that day? Have to wash your hair? Couldn't make it because you were rescuing a baby from a burning building? Or....you could not be the skin color equivalent of Casper the Friendly Ghost, and maybe you could pull off that color. The reviews of the midtown location are no lie--the place is spotless, the people are friendly, the bulbs are changed often. And within a few visits, I had a healthy glow that looked pretty darn good in lavender, and I no longer had legs so white I'd give someone retinal burn if they saw them. I haven't been to a tanning bed in well over 10 years. Then I went to Hawaii and came home in Feb really wanting to keep a little of the color I so enjoyed seeing on my body. I called Sunsation and was immediately impressed by the kindness of the person who answered the phone and her patience as she explained which bed I might prefer (I didn't realize there were choices). The midtown location was clean and professional and everyone was super nice. The tanning beds are state of the art and I plan on going until we get some real sun here in Anchorage. I'll admit right here and now that going to a place like this is way out of my comfort zone! That being said, I have an impending trip to Hawaii at the end of this week, and my narcissistic personality doesn't want me to look like an Alaskan on his one tropical vacation of the year in the middle of Winter (although that's what I am). When I discretely asked around town for a good place to get a tan tuneup, Sunsation kept popping up in conversation. I snuck into the place and asked questions in a whispering voice. Soon, the attendants put me at ease, explained the whole experience, and led me to the upright tanning booth that I preferred. I was very pleased with the experience. The crew was very knowledgable and recommended an exposure level that was just right for my skin type. I went back today for more, and in a couple of days, I'll be nice and prepped for my trip. Oh my god, I love this place! It was a first visit for me today and I have nothing but great things to say! I called earlier in the day and Amy answered the phone, she answered all of my questions and even gave me some extra info that was so helpful! Angelica was at the front desk when I arrived and her and Amy gave me a tour of the place, which is so clean by the way. The both of these girls do such a great job with both explaining how the equipment works and really just being so friendly! Angelica walked me through everything that Amy had told me over the phone - super thorough and just awesome. This was my first stop for tanning and it was the only one just because these two girls are amazing at their job! Kudos to them and Sunsation for doing such a great job. I go to the Dimond location. The girls there are always so nice and helpful. Thats usually the hardest to find with tanning salons. The girls seem to always be snooty... Not at Sunsation! They have specials going on almost every day, and constant packages on sale. They're family owned, so when there is a problem, they'll listen and get it fixed. Went to the one off of Muldoon. Loved it! Good staff. Clean beds and front office. Very professional. The place is new. I got in and had no wait. The girl at the desk was very knowledgeable. They have waxing there and spray tanning as well. Will def be back. read more

I love Sunsation! I hadn't been here in a long time due to illnesses. Their beds are by far better than before and I loved them then! The ladies working there were so very helpful and "retrained" me on the beds and the newer tanning lotions. After one Tan I was genuinely brown! I will be recommending friends and family without a doubt. I have 4 stars only because the tanning lotion was pretty spendy...but after the one tan I was immediately showing some brown. read more
