Had the right front rotor/pad assy and left front brake pad replaced in Homer, AK shop 8 months ago while my husband was out of town. He spoke to them by phone prior to work being done & rep exagerated the proposed extent of repairs. Same grinding noise started up again 2 weeks ago, requiring replacement of right rear rotor & both rear brake pads. Rear brakes were both metal on metal. Apparently, checking ALL brake pads for wear isn't a thing at Alyeska. Total for parts was around $200 this time--less than 1/2 Alyeska's charges 8 months ago. Alyeska's total for changing out one front rotor, both front pads and alignment was $1888. Learned from a friend that she had the same work done this year at Chinook Auto Repair in Ninilchik for $330--less than 1/5th what I paid these inept crooks. This place SUCKS. (As an aside: with the service I received from this place, I have to wonder if the front left pad actually was replaced.) read more

If they swap your tires and tell you you also need a whole bunch of front-end work done, thank them for their input and take your car to an actual mechanic's shop, which, again, this is not. read more

We were in town with a rental car mini van that unfortunately picked up a piece of metal somewhere in our travels from Anchorage to Homer that resulted in a flat tire. We didn't feel great about driving around the rest of our trip on the spare because the rental's tires were pretty cruddy to begin with so we called around to find a place that could hopefully fix the tire the same day. Jon at Alyseka tires saved the day for us! They were very busy but we were able to drop off the tire and pick it up later in the day. Luckily the damage wasn't too extensive so they were able to repair it and for a reasonable price. Jon was courteous, professional and friendly! read more

I will first start off by saying that I acted like a total jackass when this happened. I did scream and curse at them in front of customers, and I did lose my temper. That does not, however, excuse what happened to make me lose my temper. I was having my mother's car's tires changed over from winter to summer, and when they were working on it they called me and told me one of the tires had a slash and needed to be replaced. I agreed, saying that I wanted THE tire replaced with whatever tire best matches the other three. When I got there the bill was $1100 because they had instead given me four new tires, three of which I DID NOT ASK FOR. I did not get angry at this point, I calmly asked for confirmation- and he lied to my face and claimed that he told me they would need to replace all four tires. At this point I got mad and called him out for being a liar, he said I was no longer welcome at his place of business, and after throwing what I admit was a hissy fit on my end I am now banned from ever returning, and I do not give a fuck. I wish there was a "no stars, also report as scammers" option because I would have taken it. Tl;dr: these people are scammers and liars and you should go literally anywhere else to get your tires changed. read more

I had scheduled an appointment with Alyeska a few weeks in advanced and brought my truck the night before and placed my key in the drop box. There were no tags or anything to write the problem so I called them in the morning 10 minutes after they opened. The person I talked to seemed upset I used the drop box and didn't leave the keys in the truck, unlocked, over night. After not hearing back about the truck we called at 4pm and they told us it was being worked on. Joh called back at 5 to say they were talking about the wrong truck and that ours hasn't been touched yet and please leave it for another day. John stated they had no other appointments the next day so it would first in line and they would get it fixed. I again called 10 minutes after they opened to verify they would get to it right away and John confirmed this. Again, after not hearing about truck I called later in the afternoon and he said they truck was still outside but it would be in the shop in 20 minutes. I told him to leave it and I picked up my truck to go elsewhere and I had a receipt in the truck for 157 dollars, billed "driving and listening to truck." Unfortunately this is not the first time I've had terrible service. I brought my boat trailer there last summer and they only repaired 1 of the 3 things I asked them to. I was literally giving them money to work on preventative maintenance and they failed. After being lied to multiple times and their inability hold a scheduled service I will not be returning. read more

I came in with our rental car to the Homer location. It was given to us with bald tires. We ended up with a leak and a flat on the end of our vacation. Fixed my husbands clutch next day driving down the road clutch goes out! Stuck in first gear driving down the road im * 8 months pregnant coasting truck back to town, remote clutch slave is suppossedly what they replaced TWICE, stupid simple job and in the process damaged the clutch plate! Of course denied this. Bad quotes, price jacking, esp if female, shotty work rip off artist. Lot of short cuts going on here beware. read more

Run!! I'm out of town and have a rental. Saw a nail head sticking out and didn't want to pull it. Wasn't going to go here at all bc already bad Yelp reviews. When I got my car back they said that there was no nail but I owed them for a tire stem. I never authorize this work. I let them know that it's a rental car and I would've never paid to have this fixed and all I wanted them to do was pull the nail for my tire to see if it was leaking and if it was to Patchett. They said that the contract said tire repair on it and therefore they did tire repair. I really feel hustled after going to this place and Jim the sales associate at the front counter was horrible to me! Take advantage of enough out of towners. Do unauthorized work, and be rude. Eventually you will have enough people rating your place as a scam. read more

If I could give a no star I would! Worst front desk person ever. Refused to change tires over based solely on the ply of the tire and not on the load rating stated on the tire. Not only did he refuse he was incredibly rude and stated that he isn't doing any math. read more

Other constantly tell me of experiences with these guys saying that they replaced something that they didn't or trying to cut corners. In my personal experience they are far more expensive than any mechanic or tire shop and try to take everything they can get. One time I had two new directional tires mounted on the front of my car, and they were both left side tires. I didn't notice this until I had been driving for a day so I went back the next day and pointed it out. They said they would fix it but when they realized that they would have to give me a whole different tire to fix their mistake they told me they wouldn't do the fix because I had already driven on the tire. After pointing out for long enough that it was their fault, they finally brought the car in again and ten minutes later tried to tell me that the tire wasn't directional. No matter how hard I tried they wouldn't fix it, so I couldn't afford the new $200 tire and that side of my car couldn't channel water properly. Thanks. After a few more experiences like this I vowed only to drive to Tire Town. They actually help me out and are significantly cheaper. read more

My female partner got a quote based on a compression test they did not do; we could have spent over $1,500.00 if we had not asked for the results of the test. They lied to her, and tried to finagle me. The engine was nearly shot, but they assured her it was A-OK, to trust them to do the repairs. The manager was shameless about his scam. read more

Are there negative stars. If so these guys deserve it. I didn't catch a worn front disc pad until it went metal to metal. I stopped by this place for an estimate. After a long while they get my car on and start taking off a back tire. I said no tho problem is on the front. After removing the correct tire they provided the expert report that the disc pad is worn. Duh. The guy at the front says the left rotor needed replacement ( correct). And so does the right (incorrect), they never checked the right side but he said "as a brake professional we must do no sides at once". True for pads, not rotors I knew what the factory manual says. He gave me a 750 estimate. I said give me the keys back but I had to pay a $40 "inspection" fee. No straight shop does this. I went to a couple of honest shops on town.. $300. Doing what really needed to done. One guy tried to figure out how to get a bill up to 750. Even with the stuff that didn't need to be done - he could only figure about 500. Total ripoff. read more
