Beautiful park to take a walk in. We came for a couple of hours to check it out. You pay at the…read moreentrance, bring cash. It's the honor system. You put four dollars in an envelope. Parking was easy and plentiful. The house is pretty and the trees surrounding it are really cool. You can tour the house but we did not do that since we had little kids with us. There's a small gift shop where the tours start. There's a fountain in front of the house with koi in it but the water was full of algae. It was really hard to see the fish. I felt bad for them. There's a butterfly garden on the side of the house and we did see butterflies, dragonflies, bees and even a little frog. You can walk out on a pier over the water. There are picnic areas there of you would like to bring a lunch. Some of the water areas have warnings about gators and the trails have warnings about bears. Fortunately we did not run into either.

I can't stress enough how valuable it is to purchase an annual SP pass, Florida has so many beautiful parks if you are traveling across the state this annual pass will more than pay for itself. Visiting this park during the off season was especially rewarding, no crowds so we practically had the entire beach to ourselves, the white sugar sand and clear warm water was the perfect place to be on a warm fall day. Although shelling was a disappointment the abundance of wildlife and native plants more than made up for it. This is definitely a state park I'd return too, maybe spend a few days here in the RV when in the area...

Destin, Rosemary Beach and Panama City Beach already allowed destruction of the gorgeous natural white-sand dunes that once graced the Gulf. Now they're coming for the forests. At least the trails here should remain since the park doubles as a water treatment facility. So sad - native Florida is getting devoured by development.

Come to find out, we needed to buy a ticket at the park in order to have a way off the island. A few hours later, I am starting to panic wondering if I'd be able to get my daughter off the island or not. I'd seen some people who rented boats and asked them for a ride back to the dock at their convenience, but nobody was willing to help us. Then I googled St. Andrew's ferry's and got ahold of a lovely lady named Kim, I explained our situation and she tried to get us on the next available ferry, unfortunately we were on the other side of the island. I had all but given up when Kim called me back to let me know her entire team had been working together to help get us safely off the island. When Captain Scott showed up on his boat, his reassuring smile was exactly what we needed after being stranded for 4 hours. He pulled up onto the bank and helped my daughter and I board his boat and he even let me vent about the anger I had for my husband and the fisherman who just left us there. To all the people with guest services at St. Andrew's state park, you all will never know how much it means to me that you all helped and went above and beyond. After Captain Scott dropped us off at our vehicle, the employees even came up to us to make sure we were okay and to see if we needed anything while we were waiting for my selfish husband to get back from fishing. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. Kim, Kelsey, Chad and Captain Scott, as my grandmother would say, I would dance at your wedding if I could. God bless you all and thank you. If it wasn't for you guys we'd still be over there on the island. It's beautiful but I don't know when I'll be going back. If I do I will be sure to have a ticket and go through you guys. When I asked her if we could just drive around OR walk, she refused even when I said we had driven 40 miles just for that purpose. I will have to reserve BLINDLY for next year and be content with whatever site we get shaded or not. Looks like she had a bad night and hope that Karma comes around, it wasn't like we were going to sneak in and spend the night in the car when we were staying in Topsail which I am almost sure is better than this other one. I am sure that if I was a politician she would've extended the red carpet. So this review is not about the Park itself but about the Ranger at the gate and her attitude towards potential customers

Lots of cool buildings and it is about a 1/2 mile walk to the beach. There are some Pokemon stops if you play that game. The beach was nice and we spent about 30 minutes walking up and down the beach. It was a really nice day and this place is definitely worth a stop.

That's why I ride, to get a workout, and biking is one way I challenge myself. But there is a fine line between challenging yourself and overwhelming yourself. I need to be more careful about overwhelming myself. It happens to me a lot because I push myself to my physical limits all the time.. I guess that's just who I am! It is always going to be 5 star review for the Resort but this time if this review was for the Ranger I would give a ONE star because he has decided to not buy dog poop bags and some people just don't clean up after their dogs if you don't provide the basics because they are not prepared and I don't blame them because you expect to find bags like in ANY other Florida State Park to find poop bags all over. Now instead there is dog sh!t in some places that the Ranger should go and pick it up himself just because he is trying to save money to finish construction of his new office and moving resources from one budget item to another is not the solution, please poop bags are a must Mr Ranger, adhere to your budget and buy some bags so whoever is unprepared can clean up after their dog.

It would be hard to get lost. There are selfie spots along the trails too!! There are also trolleys that take you to the lake and to the beach. I would come back when in the area again for sure.

It's not marked super well - the trail according to the map is a straight shot, but many other paths/access roads intersect and there is not a lot of direction. The markers that are present are old, faded and sometimes hard to see. Also not the most interesting of hikes I've been on. If it's cloudy or you don't like the beach - it a bad place to take a walk.
