It is almost time to say goodbye to Paradise, two more days and we will have to go back to reality. We thoroughly enjoy the park, the beach and the restaurants in the area. It is always going to be 5 star review for the Resort but this time if this review was for the Ranger I would give a ONE star because he has decided to not buy dog poop bags and some people just don't clean up after their dogs if you don't provide the basics because they are not prepared and I don't blame them because you expect to find bags like in ANY other Florida State Park to find poop bags all over. Now instead there is dog sh!t in some places that the Ranger should go and pick it up himself just because he is trying to save money to finish construction of his new office and moving resources from one budget item to another is not the solution, please poop bags are a must Mr Ranger, adhere to your budget and buy some bags so whoever is unprepared can clean up after their dog. read more

Great trails, great park! We did 5 miles of trails and saw a lot. The terrain varied from paved, to trails, to sand to dunes. The trails are marked and there are several maps along the way. It would be hard to get lost. There are selfie spots along the trails too!! There are also trolleys that take you to the lake and to the beach. I would come back when in the area again for sure. read more

We did not stay at the rv park. We just went down to the beach. There is tram that takes you down there every 30 min or you can make the mile walk. The water is amazing and so clear. We would definitely visit this beach again. read more

Dec 2024 Cabin rental. There is very little info on the Florida parks website that provides a description of the cabins for rent in Topsail State park, so here you go. We rented the 2 bedroom 2 bath cabin #1025. We were there Tuesday-Sunday so it was very quiet for most of our stay. Check in is at the park entrance office, we checked in at 3:00 and had no issues. They give you a park pass to leave on your dashboard during your stay and an after hours entry code to access the park at night. Entry to the cabin is a keypad using the last 4 numbers of your phone number. There is parking for 2 vehicles. 1 bedroom has a queen bed with en suite full bathroom. Bedroom #2 has 2 twin beds with an adjacent full bathroom. There are no curtains in the bedrooms, only mini blinds so plan on waking up with the sunrise. Also the mattresses are VERY FIRM! Firm as in only slightly more comfortable than sleeping on the floor. They provide a thin blanket/comforter and sheet set for each bed, you have to make the bed. They supply towels (2 bath, 2 medium, 2 washcloths, 1 floor towel) in each bathroom. They are the cheap hotel type, kind of rough but not awful. There is 1 tv in the living room that is over the air antenna only. There was no way to sync a phone or tablet to the TV. We were unable to get any TV reception while we were there. Internet service on our phones was poor inside the cabin, we could stream video in the living room but not much in the bedrooms. There is a full kitchen including a dishwasher, brew coffee pot, microwave, stove/oven, and a toaster. There is no washer/dryer in the cabin however there is a coin op laundry in the park. The beach is .08 mile from the cabin via a blacktop paved pedestrian path. read more

We absolutely loved biking through Topsail Hill everyday during a recent visit to Santa Rosa Beach! A hidden treasure along 30A! We visited a few days before Memorial Day Weekend and found this gem on our first day (luckily)! We took our bikes to the park and paid $2 per bike to get in on the Thursday before. Starting Friday of Memorial Day Weekend daily admission was free due to the holiday, so just be sure to call ahead of time in case they have some promotions going on! The bike path is mostly flat with some minor hills. Majority of the path isn't shaded but we had a nice breeze from the bike ride itself. I tracked the miles on my AllTrails app because we did venture off the paved trails once or twice including Turpentine Trail and the Campbell Lake Trail. We never did more than 10 miles each day and it was super enjoyable (so much so that we did it everyday we visited). We loved the stretch of pristine beach - was such a nice change of pace from the busy touristy parts of the Gulf. There weren't many people there soaking in the views which was so nice! We took in the gorgeous views of the the waves hitting the white sandy shoreline. Ugh, so nice. Take me back! I highly recommend checking out this park while visiting the Gulf. You can camp, RV or visit for the day. read more

I really enjoyed staying here. The beach is primo and there a tram if you're not up to biking or walking there. We only used it to get our gear to and from the beach. The walk is lovely. There are lots of bikers here and you can rent one if you choose. The only reason there's a star missing is because it's very busy and our campsite was tight. There's a nice pool and coffee shop, this place books up quickly very family friendly. read more

We only got one day at the beach while on our Florida trip. We did not understand when others raved about how amazing Florida beaches really are until we experienced it ourselves. We actually planned on spending two days on the beach but the weather did not permit us to. There are 3 miles of beach access from this park. A tram ride can take you to the beach or you can take a short walk to the beach. The tram rides are free. The sand is soft and white. You can camp here. You can also stay at one of the fancy camps here.There are showers and bathrooms nearby. We did not explore much because of the weather but we plan to come back in the near future. read more

I visited this park today and I would highly recommend it! I ran there as a part of my long run and finished while exploring the trails. The trails range from paved bike paths to packed sand single track trails. The park is beautiful. There is a very nice beach and a lot of nature to explore. I saw several deer, lots of birds, and other wildlife. I can not comment on the camp grounds section aside from saying it looked pretty occupied. I was there on a Saturday morning from about 8 -10 AM and at this time it was pretty quiet. There were a few people on bikes and some walking dogs, but not crowded at all. I was actually really surprised I didn't see more people. However, I did notice a fair amount of park staff driving around, so it was not so empty that I felt unsafe. If you are in the area and looking for a fun activity to do while maintaining social distancing, this is a spot to put on your list! The admission fee is $2 for pedestrians on bike or foot and $6 for cars. It is well worth the nominal fee. read more

This review is just for the park itself, as we didn't camp or bring an RV. Topsail Hill is just down the road from Sandestin, but it is not overly crowded. There are hiking (unpaved) and bike (paved) trails, plus beach access. After paying your $6 entry fee, you park at a shuttle stop. The shuttle runs the 0.75 miles to the beach at the top of the hour. We happened to arrive at 2 p.m. and got on the shuttle. The beach is quite pristine here; it reminded us a bit of Cumberland Island in GA. There are plenty of people here for the day, but crowding is not an issue. Plus, if you hike just a few hundred yards up the beach, you can get as alone as you'd like. In looking at the park map, we opted to walk west along the beach and then take the hiking/biking trails back. Mileages are a bit rough, but it didn't appear too bad. My only complaint about the park would be that they could use better signage on the alternate beach-trail access point. The only way to find it is to look for footprints / maintenance vehicle tracks heading off-beach. Plus, it was a bit further than we anticipated. The hike back, though long, was enjoyable. After a sandy 200 yards or so, you come to an improved hiking trail. Signs here are decent, keeping you on the right color-coded trail. We took the orange trail along a large pond. It ends at the terminus of the paved bike trail, where there is also a restroom and a couple of pavilions / tables. We refilled our bottle at the water fountain and hiked the 1.5 miles back to the main road / shuttle trail. From that point, it was only another 1/4 mile or so back to the parking lot. We were all more tired than planned, but it was one of the nicest 3.5-mile walks we've done lately. The camping / RV facilities / rental cabins looked quite nice as well. read more

We had 15 miles ride on our bike.. the ride is wonderful, and road is very nice, and there is bike rail so we can lock our bike beside the beach, and go for a beach walk. The beach is quite, basically nobody, so u have it all for yourself. We saw several big big beach houses, and must be costing millions! Love it here! This is our second summer at the park. We stayed in the cabins last year and our new rv this year. While it is a haul to the beach you can't beat the natural beauty and lack of crowds. Take a bike or the shuttle for a quicker commute. The pool is a nice break when you don't want to go to the beach or fear rain. Our 3rd year camping here in winter, still a fav! Wooded campground 1/2 mi. to the prettiest beach with huge preserved dunes (walk, ride bicycle, tram). Tram also runs for day-use. We've seen deer on the dunes every visit. Appreciate restrooms at beach tram stop and on trails. Several hiking, biking trails (some asphalt, some sandy through the preserved woods). Ranger-led activities and special events. Full hookups, tropical foliage between mostly long & roomy sites. We prefer the first loop to the left after the entry stretch - more vegetation; but the other loops to the right are nice too. Separate laundry facility. Camp-store with wifi (not in campground). Restrooms kept clean. Somedays can hear the surf at campground. Above ground firepits only - we bought one for $29 at Walmart around the corner - Great! This park feels so remote, but just off Hwy 98 on 30A - go either way and you'll find stores, restaurants, anything you need. We love it here! Reservations through Reserve America online or calling - keep checking - it's very popular but cancellations happen. We've been flexible enough to find something for 14 day stay (limit) out 3 days (required) then back in for 2nd stay. We've been able to find 1, 2 or 3 night stopovers during travels thru FL, too. read more

This park is beautiful and has a huge stretch of empty beach and trails around several lakes through piney woods. Just beware of the confusing trail map provided-we ended up trudging through deep sand forever. Numbers on the trail markers don't relate to the numbers on the maps. read more

This is the best state park ran RV campgrounds we have stayed. It is located on a beautiful preserve, about a mile from the beach (with hourly shuttles), has a large play area, and a full laundry facilities. This RV park had water, sewer, and electric hookups. They also had cable hookups at the campsite! There was a small laundry room, which was clean. The spaces had lots of room in between which provided amble privacy. Would I recommend this park? We were here in Sandestin from the crossroads of America, Indiana. Stayed in Sandestin and heard about this state park and beach from a brochure and the hostess at the Residence Inn we stayed in. So very, very glad I took her advice! The park was just a few min down the road (US-98) from our hotel and it was free to get in! The team that runs every 30 min to and from the parking lot takes you to the beach. There is a short walk up a boardwalkish type sidewalk and then you're at the beach. White sands, clean and not too crowded! Enough people to feel secure but not too many where you feel like you're packed like at a mall. I would say this was like a library beach as opposed to a packed touristy mall like beach. I hope that makes sense. There is no lifeguard. So heads up but we felt safe. Shallow areas to swim and play in galore. There are public bathrooms at the beginning of the walk to the beach and open showers to rinse off. This state park also has and is known for RV camping. It's a beautiful site with hiking and people riding bikes too. My kids were too caught up in the ocean and beach for us to partake of hiking, but I wanted to! Maybe next time. The dunes and foliage are beautiful! Definitely want to come back. My recommendations" -pack cooler with food -use one of the big wheeled wagons because pulling a regular cooler through the sand is hard! -you will need to bring your own umbrella and chairs (Walmart is like 3 min away) -buy boogie boards and or floaties for your crew. It's worth it! Again, Walmart is close and cheap. read more

We've stayed at Topsail three times now, this last trip with our two-year-old son. We like the "cabins," which are really mobile homes. That park of the park was apparently a retirement community at one point and it retains that sweet "going to Grandma's house" feel to it. Our cabin this time, though, wasn't quite as nice as others we've had, but we really had no complaints. It's just nice to have plenty of room to move around and set up a big playpen. Our son loved the tram ride to the beach. It runs every 30 min but only until 6 pm. Plus, the tram ride itself can take 20 mins or so just to get to the beach. We've decided that it's better to have more freedom in when we can come and go to the beach, so we're staying at Grayton Beach next time. (Been there and liked that we can drive to the beach.) We also met a woman who drove three days to get to Topsail but can't get her elderly mother down to the beach because she couldn't handle the tram ride. (It's a bit high to step up to and it's a bit jarring of a ride.) Although they had their golf cart, they weren't allowed to drive it up to the beach. That seems ridiculous. The park should either make the beach more accessible or make accommodations. I still recommend Topsail (it's really beautiful!) but only for able-bodied people who don't mind the lengthy tram ride. read more

This is a great campground and amazingly also a state park. Cable, water, 50 amp, sewer and some very nice sized sites. Access to the beach a short bike ride or tram ride away. Has laundry facilities, pool, shuffleboard, clubhouse and some organized activities. The area has great restaurants and shopping. Lots of interesting things to see and do. We stayed in the cabins. Horrible experience. I think the sheets that they left us to put on the bed were probably five years old, maybe older, but beyond worn out. There was a TV. One 14-inch box TV that we literally had to push our chairs up to to be able to see the screen. The bathroom door would not shut because it was broken. It was a pocket door that no longer slid. So you had to go in the bathroom use the bathroom or shower with the door open. We requested somebody to come look at it and fix it. He came over and verified it is broken. And I guess besides the ants on the counter every morning when you woke up, the place was one step above a tent. It's cute on the outside. The driveway is nice. read more

We rented a tent through Fancy Camps online during spring break this year! We were supplied with a queen bed with down comforter, sleeping bags for our kids, table and chairs, rugs, lamps and even a small air conditioner inside our tent. When we arrived everything was ready for us just as described and our requests were fulfilled! Very happy with the tent. We were in close proximity (but not too close) to the shared bathhouse and restroom. Facilities were very clean and employees of the the park were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the pool and shuffleboard areas. We brought our lab with us on our trip- and she was able to go everywhere in the park with us with exception of the beach. If you are going to the beach area bring bikes or use the tram that runs every hour. read more

This is our state park/RV resort of choice in the panhandle. The sites are large, private with natural FL landscape, most are on concrete pads with concrete patios, full hookup, and the whole park is always tidy and clean. You can walk the 1.5 miles to Santa Rosa Beach, or have the tram pick you up at the stop and drop you down by the boardwalk! There are trails, a swimming pool, camp store, and a few small lakes. This is a beautiful, clean campground state park with a true real Florida vibe. ****The only complaint we had this trip was we felt the people who were cleaning up the sites (hosts??) were just a bit too pushy and not very friendly. We felt we were almost being pushed out around 10:30 am (checkout time is 1:00) as they made it a point to drive by and point at our spot not once but three times between 10:30 and 11:30 am. We tried waving to them several times without any acknowledgement. I realize it was a Friday and they were probably just trying to stay on top of their busy day ahead, but we had every right to be in our site until our checkout time. When we did pull out right before 1:00, they were right there waiting on us to leave as if they needed to deep clean our site for the 3:00 check in. We left no trace, there are no fire pits or grills, and while we were hooking up our tow vehicle on the road by the site, I watched them blowing the pine needles off the concrete pad. I tried waving again and even though the female camp host looked right at me; I got nothing. I understand they had others to check on, but we felt rushed and they were 'hovering'. I don't mean to sound petty here, as we appreciate these camp hosts and would love to be hosts ourselves one day! I just have never had this cold experience like this at Topsail, especially when everyone at the welcome station and camp store are extremely friendly and helpful!! Just wanted to bring this to your attention and hope that we just caught the host's on a bad day! The campsites are topnotch. Each site has electric and water, a picnic table and a fire ring. They are tree'd and provide ample shade and privacy. Also note, they are not far from the bathhouse- which is very clean and well-lit. Due to covid, it is closed for cleaning for approximately 30 min each morning. The path to the beach is paved with a small incline/decline (depending on whether youre going/coming from the beach). if the tram is not running, it is approx. .5 mi walk or bike ride to the beach. The beach is clean and easily accessible if you can go up/down steps to the board walk. There are restrooms and ample bike racks at the boardwalk. There is a Walmart nearby the entrance, if you are looking for restaurants nearby- there are quite a few within a short drive. I highly recommend TopSail. It books up very quickly with very few cancellations- however, if you can get a reservation, you will not be disappointed. Ive edited this review to include Photos. read more

My family and I stayed in one of the cabins. It was nice and a very good value for the money. It is a bit of a walk/tram ride to get to the beach. Therefore, ensure to pack lightweight items to transport back and forth. We will return in the future. read more

we didn't camp here but we came here as a morning trip to get out. There's a hike of a mile or two down apaved road but if you wait for the 'train' it makes the trip much easier to the beach. once you get to the beach, it's PHENOMENAL. hardly anyone out there and the whitest softest beach i've ever seen. there were only 2-3 other families out there and it was great to have the place to ourselves. it was cold so we weren't going in the water but it was gorgeous. i think it's worth it to go back when the weather is warmer. the only facilities at the beach are the bathrooms a short walk from the beach. they do have a box of sand toys to lend which was nice since we hadn't brought any with us. read more

Wow....Just wow...... I was booking our Spring Break in December 2011 and came across this park. I booked it because I had never been to the Florida panhandle. My husband used to vacation in Fort Walton, so I was relatively sure we would have a good time. We camped here for five days, but I wish we could have camped for five months. It was that good. The RV Resort is run like, well, a resort. The grounds are exceptionally well maintained. Each RV site has its own bit of landscaping and a night light. The sites are concrete and level, making set-up a breeze. Our neighbors were really friendly. From what we learned, if you stay here for a couple of months, you might have to move your rig to another site, but no one seemed to mind. The whole time we were there, we never lacked for something to do. We hiked to the beach, although there is a tram that runs from the campground to the walkway to the beach. Use the tram on beach days, you'll need it. And the beach! Very pristine with clear blue water. If you decide to spend the day, bring a cart or wagon to bring your food, water, etc. The bathrooms at the beach as well as the campground were very well maintained. At night, we walked to the beach day lot and looked up at the stars. There was some light pollution, but not enough to stop me from seeing a few satellites. The next day, we hiked further into the hammock,but there are paved trails for biking and hiking alike. We also went to the USAF Armament Museum, which was totally awesome. We wanted to get up to watch the Blue Angels practice, but we were cautioned that the traffic to Pensacola could be snarled and we were feeling lazy! When we didn't feel (well, when I didn't feel) like cooking, there were several great eateries in the area,just Yelp. There is also a brand-new Wal-Mart right down the street. Our camp hosts were sooooo wonderful. Very helpful and friendly. They even made our dog feel welcome! I got to use some of my rusty French on some of the many Canadians who come to stay here. The laundry was clean and convenient. Take a moment to check out the butterfly garden next to the laundry, very cool. Wifi was pretty good, although used quite heavily. We too advantage of cable instead of using our Dish. I would definitely come back here to stay, if not live. The area is so beautiful and chill. Perfect vacation spot. Hey! We stayed in a tent in spot T07 from 3/22/15 thru 3/27/15. This place is fantastic! It's clean, beautiful and friendly. We walked to and from the beach everyday. It's a nice paved path a half mile to the boardwalk. Great exercise! When you get halfway on the boardwalk you start to see the beautiful jade colored waters and white sand! This beach is very clean and not crowded this time of year. The tent sites have paths that separate one from another, with needle palms, pine trees and assorted native shrubs and trees. Plenty of mockingbirds and your occasional boisterous crow. The sites also have electric. I utilized this for charging our phones and an extension cord with Christmas lights that I wrapped inside of my canopy tent over the picnic table at night. Romantic lighting for those nice and cool breezy nights playing cards and eating good food! The bathhouses are kept super clean. The RV sections host visitors from all over, even many places in Canada. The paved RV streets have great names like Pampas Grass Blvd and Pine Cone Way. It's like stepping back in time a bit with how clean, kept up and peaceful it is. (loud music and obnoxious drunken people are nowhere to be found! Yay!) Not to mention so many friendly people. They have a pool, shuffleboards, ponds for fishing, nature trails and rentals of all kinds including bicycles. We didn't bother with all that because we were basically beach bums! But it's there if you want it. If you forget to bring something, Wal-Mart is a half mile away not to mention a new Starbucks and of course a Publix liquor store. I live 600 miles away from this place, and my stay was five nights. With gasoline and accommodations, the total came to roughly $220.00! That's an affordable vacation! We are totally coming back for future visits and would recommend this to anyone who can respect the standards expected of you to make it enjoyable for everyone. read more

This review is about the park. I don't have an RV and did not camp here.. The park is great, a quite large network of hiking trails wandering through a wide variety of natural environments (pine forest, 2 coastal dune lakes, swampy and marshy areas, a great beach..) This park is fairly large by Florida state park standards and there is a nice long stretch of undeveloped beach here... Unfortunately vehicles have apparently been allowed on the beach in large numbers, the tire tracks sort of dissuade from the natural experience.. The rest of the park, which features many huge sand dunes and lots of very interesting vegetation, in addition to the possibility of seeing bears and alligators, which both reside in the park, is great! The park staff are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. This park is quite well organized.. There is a lot of birdlife here.. The park organizes occasional guided ranger walks in the park, although when I went today (Feb 2011) I did not get a chance to check one of those out. read more

This is one of the best state parks I have been to...if you like the outdoors without all the riff raff of Panama City beach you will love top sail...they have activities for the family and very neat and clean camp sites...the beach is not walking distance but they have a free tram that will take you to the beach...pets are not allowed on the beach that kinda sucks...but once you get to the beach this view if the turquoise blue and green gulf opens up right before you...the beach is lined with sand dunes and if ur quiet you can even see a sea turtle or two... read more

This park is fantastic! We pulled our camper down to stay for fall break and we very much enjoyed our stay here. We chose campsite 75 because it was on the lake. That was our only mistake. There is a sewer outlet or airline or something on that site in the back left corner and it constantly smelled like sewer. It wasn't a light smell either, it was knock you over the head sewer smell. We wound up doing our eating inside because of this and that sucked. The only other small issue we had was the water was turned off to the main bathhouse one day, still don't know why, but weird. BUT, everything else was just incredible. The staff is friendly. The laundry room is very cool, kept us from having to go home and do twenty loads of laundry after the week. We sucked it up, did a bunch of loads at once midweek and boom, clean stuff for everyone! The bathhouses were clean and plenty of hot water. They also have shelves, with lots of hooks for your clothes as opposed to just benches. I hate it when they just have benches. That seems just gross to me. The pool was small but clean, the shuffleboard was fun, but the equipment needs updated terribly. The Tram was great to take us to and from the beach on the hour. The driver was always on time and very friendly. The beach really, is unmatched. It is so clean and not at all crowded. We visited another beach while we were there for a change of scenery and I am sorry we did. I forgot how public beaches can get pretty nasty with cigarette butts, glass debris and drunk assholes. We would definitely stay here again, but not near site 75! read more

This our first visit to a Florida state park, but we can't imagine how any could be better than this. As retired full-time RVers we usually stay at parks in our 1000 Trails program. However, this state park beats most of them. The many bike trails are relatively flat and some take you right down to the gulf shore. The RV pads are cement and level. WiFi and cable TV hookups are included in the affordable camping fees. To top off this the park has what they call "cabins" which are more like small houses with extra large screened in decks. We're going to give serious consideration to having our next family reunion at this park. read more

Great place. We rented a bungalow for four adults and there was plenty of room. Very clean with all the amenities. It is roughly a mile to the beach or lake. Rent the bicycles and get the exercise. Members of the park staff are wonderful. If you tent camp be aware that some areas of the campground flood if there is significant rain. read more

Definitely the place to stay if you enjoy feeling in the woods yet near the ocean. It is a bit of a hike to water from camping area so you'll either take the tram or a bike to the water but it's very easy. Beautiful uncrowded beaches. If you like the action of Seaside then don't come here as this is low key and slow pace- peaceful, no shopping around- other than a nearby Walmart. The rv spots in the 100s are the newer looking and a bit more lush surroundings than others. You definitely will want a bike or rent one to enjoy checking the park out. We'll be back! read more

Full hookups, great location, easy beach access, WiFi...but, some of the sites are really rough with broken cement pads! Still good, bit make your reservations months out as it is usually full. read more

We lucked out and got the last RV spot for the night. Just stayed one night but really glad we made it hear. The beach is amazing. The finest sand i've ever touched. Note, no dogs on the beach. I hadn't seen this in the info pack (it is there) and walked my dog down and back which was a bummer. But, its a great ocean spot about 3/4 of a mile walk or shuttle from the camp. I'd definitely return! read more
