I'm changing all the AM donut stores from 5 stars to 4 stars. They're just not quite as good as they used to be. I'm not a big donut fan, but I LOVE fritters! The apple, cherry, and blueberry fritters have always been wonderful, but they're just not as good as they used to be. They seem to be a little drier and aren't glazed as much as the old days. Prices are up, but that's to be expected. Inflation is not our friend. Maybe things will get back to normal in the near future. I guess we'll see! Next stop, AM Donuts! read more

Donuts are very very great but one of the young ladies in here is very unfriendly and is annoyed while taking orders.

Not sure what happened to this place! It used to be our go to but today changed that. The donuts no longer fresh my apple fritter hard and all the donuts we bought hard and old. There were flies all over the donuts in the case. Spent $50 and that will be the last time. So sad because we used to love it and they are not selling fresh donuts anymore. read more

We decided to stop here for a quick bite to eat since it had such good reviews and we hadn't had donuts in quite some time. I had the glazed donut, which was okay and a sausage croissant, which was pretty good. My wife had the Apple fritter and the old fashioned donut and she said they were both great. The prices were very reasonable, but the only drawback is the building itself. There is limited seating, all tables were dirty as well as the building itself. They need to spend some time and do some serious cleaning to the interior of the building. read more

My husband's brother brought over a bunch of donuts this morning. Breakfast of champions right? I had the glazed and it was good! Very fluffy and soft with the perfect amount of glaze. Had apple fritters from AM Donuts three times and all three times they were amazing. The donut holes should come with a warning on them because once you start popping them you'll find it hard to stop! They're not cake donut holes, so they're light, fluffy and delicious! If you plan to share the donut holes you better plan to get several dozen... trust me! Cash and check only, but they have an ATM. edit: Beware of the ATM. Owner of ATM charges, and my bank charged a 'foreign' atm fee ($5 between the two for only withdrawing $20). I hope its just my bank... but you've been warned!! read more

I think this is Abilene's best donuts. And there's always friendly service with an abundance of options. I'm partial to the simple chocolate donut but I've tried their ham and cheese kolache as well as their cream cheese one and love them. All so fresh and delicious. This is my most favorite doughnut shop in Abilene, and it is in my top four favorite doughnut shops in Texas. Their chocolate doughnuts are warm and melt in your mouth. They taste so sweet and it's the best chocolate ever. There's usually a line to the door, but it's because they're so good! Now that I'm not in Abilene anymore, I am always very tempted to drive three hours just for those doughnuts. Favorite order: Two chocolate doughnuts and a chocolate milk. Best donuts in town. My favorite is the apple fritter. They also have a delicious ham and cheese croissant. They could use some extra parking and an update on the building, but it's nicer than most places in Abilene. The coffee is horrid, and the iced coffee is some chemically engineered garbage, but the service is always fast and attentive. Only 3 stars because service was not friendly. Donuts are good. Its unfortunate that the girls at the counter can't smile and don't like to answer questions about their products. This place makes the best donuts. The Donut maker knows what he is doing. He makes cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, & bear claws plus the usual raised & jelly filled. Many donut shops do not make cake donuts let alone devils food dough donuts or buttermilk. If they do like Shipleys donuts down & around Houston they are limited cake donuts. They would rather sell raised donuts & put different icing on them. Plus there donuts are smaller not like AM Donuts which are bigger. Many donut shops in Houston make & sell Apple Fritters & Cinnamon Rolls but no Bear Claws which are 3-1/2" to 4" in diameter. AM donuts are 5-1/2" on average. I have measured them. Plus Houston charges the same prices. Dunkin Donuts does not even make these type of donuts. They only make what they want to & not what the customers prefer. Even Snowflake donut shops make smaller Cinnamon Rolls & Apple Fritters & sell for the same prices. People that live in Abilene should be thankful they have AM Donut shops. It makes me want to move here. I live in Spring TX & happened to run into AM Donuts on my way back to Texas. I will be stopping at AM Donuts on every trip, THEY ARE THE BEST. EC read more
