Well that was a heavenly night out…read more Our first restaurant meal in Vienna, so it had to be Wiener schnitzel. Perfect veal pieces with a perfectly golden, bubbled crumb, as large as our plate. Heaven. Potato salad - perfect; a little on the sweeter side. No mayo here, as it should be. Also, we were craving veg, so ordered the rucola salad. This being Austria, it was covered in ham and a sharp cheese. I'm not complaining The room had a simple, cozy cellar bar feel. It was a tad warm inside. Friendly service. Although I tried my best with German they also spoke excellent English. Drinks wise - hubby enjoyed the lager beer and I loved the Weiss gespritzt. At €3,90 a glass, I was happy! They were busy so recommend booking. Fantastic meal, highly recommend!

We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel, prepared in the traditional Viennese style, and it was amazing! The schnitzel was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with their potato salad, which was also really good. We also tried the Tafelspitz, served with a flavorful beef broth and vegetables. It was hearty, fresh, and packed with flavor. Their house beer on tap was refreshing and went perfectly with the meal. But the real showstopper was dessert--the famous Kaiserschmarrn with apricot. These fluffy, shredded pancakes were absolutely divine, and the apricot added just the right amount of sweetness. Easily one of the highlights of the meal! Service was impeccable, and everything tasted fresh. I highly recommend making a reservation, especially because this is a small restaurant and it clearly has a strong following among locals. The atmosphere is lovely, with a neighborhood, non-touristy vibe that makes the experience feel authentically Viennese. If you're looking for delicious traditional Viennese specialties without the tourist-trap feel, definitely put Gasthaus Pöschl on your list!

This lentil dish did not disappoint. In fact it was wonderful and I would order it again! The atmosphere was very lively, everyone enjoying each others company, loud and stacked! Located at The Prater amusument park, the Schweizerhaus is ENORMOUS! There is much more outdoor seating than in, and outdoor seating is actually easier to get! On our first visit, hubs had the Schweinhaxe (pork knuckle), a salad and 2 beers. I had the Schnitzel, Spargelsuppe (asparagus soup), and a coke. Hubs enjoyed his pork, and I enjoyed my Schnitzel, but the soup was outstanding! I had never had asparagus soup, and as it is a beloved springtime dish in the Germanic countries, I wanted desperately to try it. It was so creamy and the asparagus was cooked to such a tenderness, I almost wanted to get another bowl! On our second visit, we both got the Znaimer Gulasch, 2 beers, 1 coke, and a Powidltascherln. Again, everything was decent, but I preferred our first night's meal better. Each night was well under 100 Euros for the two of us, so it was definitely affordable. If I am ever lucky enough to be back in Vienna, I would absolutely come back here for a meal! 44/2025
