Beautiful park, just look at the photos!
I had the fortune of visiting this place on my trip to Copenhagen recently and it is stunning. Right next to the water, and the grounds are very well maintained. Some tourists but overall not very crowded in the winter time.
Must see when in this city. read more
We just happened to see it when walking back to our hotel from the Langelinie. The fountain in the middle of the garden immediately draws you into this lovely greenspace. It looked so familiar to me, and I didn't know why until I looked over to my right. It's the fountain that we saw in the distance from Amalienborg Palace Square. The symmetry of the garden was created with the Frederiksgade axis in mind. The best visual of this alignment would probably be from Frederik's Church.
There are sculptured patina columns placed symmetrically on each corner of this royal path leading to the harbor. These are the works of the Italian abstract artist, Arnaldo Pomodoro. It brings in an interesting element that melds urbanization with nature. I didn't really notice it right away until seeing how the sunlight interacts with the columns when walking back towards the street. It's a cool feature!
The rest of the garden is very well designed and manicured. I love the tall Boxwood shrubs along the wall. It gives the garden path a majestic look while obstructing the view of the street. It makes this garden a little more secluded from everyday life in the city. It was a nice stop along the harbor on our way back to Nyhavn and Christianshavn. read more
As if the adjacent castle wasn't grand enough, the gardens adjacent to the water are almost as astounding. Well manicured vegetation, fountains, some sculptures and a beautiful views of the waterfront. Apparently, when the Royal yacht comes in this is where the Royal family docks and heads into the Amalienborg castle. read more
