In addition to all the photography details she went above and beyond and provided us with recommendations for florists, hair stylist, and makeup artists as she knew our time was flying by. She has such a passion for photography! We love the way our pictures came out. and she took so many that it's hard to choose our favorites. She even met us at our venue before our wedding to walk the grounds and scope out the best places to take pictures and a picture plan. We actually won our wedding package through a Facebook contest, but her prices are on her website, and some of our friends have used her and her prices are very reasonable. My husband and I are not the most comfortable in front of the camera, but she brought us out of our shells, made us more comfortable, and was very patient as we adjusted. I contacted her, told her what we were looking for, and she asked to set up a meeting. AND, she's in the next town over from me. This was starting to perk me up a bit. I went to her home, we chatted, I looked through books of previous weddings she had done, and her laid back demeanor was PERFECT for our really easy going, 8 person wedding in the Arboretum. I can't tell you how amazing it is to find someone that is easy going and professional, that takes photos that really capture the moment (quirks and all), gets RAINED ON for an hour, doesn't complain one bit, and produced the best photos I could have hoped for. I also can't tell you what a relief it is to not have to worry how the photos will come out, if the person is dependable, or any of that stuff because I knew off the bat that she'd come through, and she did in spades. Instead, I could worry about other things (like where my dress was....) I can't recommend Emily enough, and am plotting other things I can use her skills for going forward! Please, Please, Please, do yourself a favor, brides - you have enough to worry about. Don't let your photographer be one of them. If you're in Boston, call her, seriously.

She has many…read moreyears of experience as a professional photojournalist, but I think mine was only the third or fourth wedding she'd ever done. Pro: Kate is very eager to please. For example, the day after my wedding was Father's Day. So at my request, Kate edited and printed a photo of Dad and me going down the aisle, glued it to a card, and hand-delivered it the morning after. She did not charge for this. Pro and Con: Kate is very open to suggestion. This made working with her easy and fun. However, I think a more experienced wedding photographer would say, "I know you don't think you need a shot of the wedding party, but you six stand here and smile anyway. Trust me, you'll want it for your album." Pro: Great candid shots of almost every guest! Kate knows how to take advantage of the moment and its lighting. Con: The large group formal portraits did not turn out well. The main problem was that someone's head would cover half the face behind it. A more experienced wedding photographer would've said, "Move your head to the left." However, doing the group formals on the staircase was my bright idea -- it looks awesome in three dimensions, but there's no natural light and you can only shoot from an unflattering angle. Pro: The less formal (but still not candid) group shots of guests were spectacular. I sent everyone a 4x6 of themselves with their thank-you notes, and I would not be surprised if a few ended up in frames above the fireplace. Pro: Because she is less experienced with weddings, Kate charges half as much as other professional wedding photographers in the Boston area. While I imagine the price will rise after she does more weddings, I was able to hire her for less than a thousand dollars. Overall, I am very satisfied with this photographer.

What my husband and I loved most about Kate's photographs was how she managed to beautifully capture the spirit and energy of our ceremony and reception. Kate has a photojournalist background and does an excellent job creating natural candids documenting the wedding as in unfolds (though she does take the formal posed photos too, if that's what you want). The reception went by so fast, so it was awesome to be able to go through Kate's pictures after and relive those special, little moments we had forgotten. She also does a great job of taking advantage of the setting and natural lighting and focusing on small details other might miss to create unusual, inspired shots, while remaining completely professional and unobtrusive. I highly recommend Kate to anyone who wants natural, photojournalist-style photographs. Full Disclosure: I have been friends with Kate for about six years. I had seen Kate's work on her website and at her non-wedding photo exhibitions, so I immediately thought of her when I was planning my wedding. They were all incredibly professional, friendly, and organized. I have never met anyone that was as organized as Nicole. She really spends time planning everything out so that the day runs smoothly.
