We were so excited to work with Nicole Chan Photography for our wedding on December 14, 2018 at the Providence Public Library. Nicole was such a pleasure to work with, from our initial phone conversations to meeting in person to design our wedding album. We were so fortunate to have Nicole and her team photograph our special day. Nicole, Karen, and Phoebe arrived promptly to our hotel and immediately went to work photographing our day. They were all incredibly professional, friendly, and organized. I have never met anyone that was as organized as Nicole. She really spends time planning everything out so that the day runs smoothly. Nicole and her crew also worked very well with our videographer. They complemented each other well. Not only is Nicole invested in quality photographs, but she is invested in getting to know the couple. Nicole called us several times before the wedding to talk about how we met and to share our story. We really appreciated this because not only did it allow Nicole to learn more about us, but she was somehow able to capture the essence of our relationship in her photographs. Nicole pays great attention to detail. She has extraordinary vision. You can tell she has a true talent for this. We joked with Nicole that we are awkward in photos, but Nicole eased our nerves and miraculously overcame our photo-awkwardness! We also want to thank Nicole for her patience with photographing our dogs, Dallas and Bradley, on our wedding day. They even brought a squeaky ball to get the attention of our pups during photoshoots (and even doggy bags for any stops along the way--superb service!). Nicole works with you and goes through a detailed plan on who you would like her to focus on whether it be friends, family, wedding party, etc. She is also open to all your ideas about the types of photographs you would like. When it was time to design our photo album, Nicole invited us to her studio to watch a slideshow of our photos on a projector. This was truly an experience, and it really brought back such wonderful memories. We designed a high-quality photo album and it is truly breathtaking. Our wedding was December 2018 and we decided on Nicole for our wedding photographer. From the initial phone call when we were still in the search, Nicole stood out as she was so organized and well spoken. Once we decided to go with Nicole, further phone calls ensued, as she wanted to get to know us better. At first, I didn't understand why this was needed/important for photographing a wedding, but it showed later on. Through our talks, she got ideas of what is important to us and her photos had an emphasis on those areas. Further than the content of the photos, Nicole and her crew (Karen and Phoebe) made the wedding party and family photo taking experience go so smoothly. When I was in others' wedding parties, the photos seemed to take forever and doing similar photos over and over. With Nicole, things went so efficiently that it seemed to be over before we knew it (and we trekked all over downtown Providence). We also took photos with our dogs, and Nicole and her crew were amazing! They held a ball to keep one of our dogs focused, they had doggy bags prepared for "breaks", and played with the dogs when they weren't in the photos. Before the evening was done, before the last photo was even taken, photos from earlier in the night were downloaded and being reviewed on the computer by one of the photography members. By the afterparty, Nicole sent us 5 photos. Within 10 days, we had our photos available to us digitally. Amazing turn around! Nicole is fantastic at what she does! This past Easter she did a charity photo shoot where proceeds went to two different organizations. My husband brought in our daughter (who was then a very cranky 3 year old). Nicole did an excellent job! She had baby chicks, and baby bunnies for the kids to hold and play with when they were getting their pictures taken. Our daughter's face lit up at the fact she was able to hold a baby chick. That picture of her holding the chick is one of my most favorite pictures of her ever! Nicole was also at our wedding. Even though she was a guest of ours, she took time out of having fun to take pictures of us and our guests. Nicole has a knack for making everyone feel at ease. I too hired Nicole for my wedding in August of 2010 and both she and Jason were fabulous. We planned our wedding in 3.5 months and Nicole was there to help or offer insight every step of the way. She helped my husband David relax during our engagement photo session, since like most guys i know he hates having his pictures taken and the photos came out fabulous! A few days before the wedding i decided i wanted a banner printed and camera set up as a "photo booth" and Nicole took charge and helped me get it all set up! Day of the wedding she showed up early to get great shots of us getting ready, she and Jason would split up so that he would get photos of the guys while she stayed in the room and got pics of all the girls. My friends and family all love our photos and are so jealous that they didnt know about Nicole for their own weddings! Like for Carol Nicole also brought tiny photos of our engagement session to our reception and the guests loved them! Lastly - amazingly Nicole was able to upload all of our wedding photos up for us in record time, i have put in my album order before my cousins who were married October 2009 because i got to look at them so quickly. She has a great eye for unique shots and for making you feel comfortable - I was surprised to see some of the photos she had managed to take when we weren't even looking! Hiring Nicole was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! Nicole was such a joy to work with from beginning to end. It's very important for the bride to feel comfortable around the photographer as he/she is the one following you around all day. As soon as I've had my first meeting with Nicole, I knew I've found the person to document my special day. She was easy to talk to, full of ideas, and she listened to my thoughts. My fiance and I had a ton of fun doing our engagement shoot and the photos turned out wonderfully! The last dozen of photos was done with minimal lighting because the sun had set, but Nicole did her magic and they turned out beautiful. My friends and family loved our engagement pics and they all said how much the pictures captured our personalities. Nicole was even more amazing on our wedding day. She gave us many helpful directions for posing, came to the rescue with various problems we encountered (e.g. she pinned the boutonniere for my hubby and the groomsmen because we didn't know how to do it properly), was extremely prepared (laid down a napkin on the park bench so I may sit on it and keep my gown clean), and most importantly she produced many stunning photos for us to treasure. I've attended weddings where the photographers sticks out, but Nicole worked like a ninja and captured breathtaking shots of the important moments without becoming a distraction. Her assistant Karen was also awesome and great to work with. Finally, Nicole is super professional. She replied to all my emails promptly and her turn around was FAST. I got my sneak peak of my wedding during my honeymoon and I could see and download all 700+ of my photos within a couple of weeks of a Sept wedding! She is detail oriented and organized, which is so important at keeping me calm when there was a lot on my plate to plan. What everyone said is true - the wedding is a bit of a blur for the bride and groom because so much happened. Our engagement shoot with Nicole was nothing short of fantastic. She immediately put us at ease, and we had so much fun that we were still smiling hours afterward. During the hour we spent together, Nicole took an impressive range of pictures. She of course took the classic shots, but was also able to capture the spontaneity of our laughter and shared glances. Her pictures framed us very well in a variety of settings, from a quiet garden to the bustling square. My fiance and I had the chance to work with Karen (one of the photographers of Nicole Chan Photography) for our wedding, and it was one of the best decisions we made! For context, I am a grad student - meaning I didn't have a huge budget, but do have great research skills :) I carefully compared at least 20 photographers in the Boston-area in search of a phenomenal photographer who wasn't outrageously expensive (in other words - the Holy Grail). I was really excited about Karen's work, and after getting the glowing second opinion of a professional photographer friend, and even the third opinion of my wedding coordinator, I knew Karen was a huge find. We loved working with Karen (and Nicole!) - from initial conversations when they made an effort to get to know us as a couple and not just as "clients x & y", to the big day itself. Karen was super responsive and on top of things leading up to the wedding, asking for and suggesting timing and photos, etc.. This meant that everything flowed beautifully on the day of. Even my bridal party - most of whom have gone through their own weddings and/or have been part of other weddings - commented on how Karen was so great. She was calm, flexible, and seemingly everywhere, both working with us and taking tons of photos behind the scenes. Then, we got the photos, and realized Karen was even more amazing than we had hoped and experienced. Not only did we get over 700 beautiful, well-edited photos within 2 weeks(!!), the images captured both the essence and the details of our wedding in a way that really made me feel like I will get to relive that incredible blur of a day over and over again. Unlike most of the people here reviewing Nicole's wedding and engagement work, I hired Nicole to photograph me in a "boudoir" setting as a special gift for my husband to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I was very specific as to what I was looking for ... I wanted something sensual but very classy and elegant, and as a 51 year old woman, I most definitely wanted "age appropriate" (lots of healthy eating and exercise means I'm still in good shape, but hey, 51 is 51, and I was really sensitive to that. :-)) After looking at the portfolios of several photographers online, I chose Nicole because there was truly something in her shots that made me think, "yeah, I like how she did that!" I liked the fact that her shots made the women look beautiful and graceful. I emailed her and explained what I was looking for, and her quick and cogent responses sealed the deal for me. I simply could not have been more pleased with how the photos turned out. In fact, I presented the online proof gallery to my husband a week ago (our actual anniversary day), and we STILL haven't been able to make up our minds which shots are the best. There are so many awesome ones that we are spoiled for choice ... I think we've got it narrowed down to only 20 now. :-) My husband and I both cannot thank Nicole enough. We hired Nicole for our three day Indian wedding and it was the best decision made on our part. I don't think anyone could have captured those moments the way she did. Everyone was amazed by how wonderful she did! When friends and family saw the photos all they could say was "it looks like a movie set!" I can say that she somehow managed to make the wedding look even prettier in photos than it did in person. She is magical! :) She was very professional throughout the whole planning and made sure everything went well. Nicole is absolutely amazing to work with. I'm someone who is very awkward when it comes to taking photos but she'll make you feel very comfortable and not embarrassed to try different poses. She'll work with you and would not force something on you if you really don't like it. She will also be able to capture beautiful candid photos (which I think are always the best ones!) Wouldn't you want a candid picture showing how happy you are with your to-be spouse??? :-) I bet she'll take so many great pictures that you just wouldn't know which one to choose to put on your living room wall! read more

Usually I use another name for bad ratings to prevent myself getting chopped. Nicole was reliable and came to our rescue when we needed her the most. Friendly: Yes, she gave us what we were looking for and comforted us to relax a bit. Helpful: yes, she helps us when we needed her. Professional: duh.... that's her career and she needs to be one to feed herself. So every photographer has different styles and Nicole has one of the fews that actually works in various environment. We just described to her what we are looking for and she did it....with an amazing quality.... I've been to many many photographers to capture those moments with my family and I can assure you that Nicole gives you what you need. Most photographers only work for $$ without caring about the feeling of caturing the "moment" and personalizing your needs and Nicole has none of those characteristics. Nicole was the photographer for both our engagement shoot and our wedding. And she is the BEST. Her photos are fantastic. my wife is of course beautiful, but if she can make me look good, then i'm sure she can make anyone look good. and her turn-around is FAST. she got the engagement photo back to us in a week, and the wedding photo "sneak peak" during our honeymoon! During the engagement shoot, me and my wife had only a few ideas what we wanted, and Nicole directed us and gave us great ideas and made us feel at ease. Plus, she's photographed many weddings before and she's really prepared! i didn't know how to put on my boutonniere and she helped me and all the groomsmen. there was a shot we wanted to do in the park, and my wife needed to sit on a bench, and nicole brought out a handkerchief so that my wife's dress won't get dirty! and there was a snag on my wife's wedding gown, and we needed a pair of scissors, but nicole brought out a swiss army knife to help my wife with the dress! I had an absolutely amazing session with Nicole. I hired her for head and body shots, and could not have been more satisfied. Nicole was very helpful and really fun to work with! I was nervous about doing the session, because, aside from candids, I had never really been on that side of a camera before, especially in a professional setting. She explained exactly what I needed to do, and was very encouraging. Nicole was also very open to anything that I wanted to do, whether it was to change outfits or change backgrounds. I would absolutely recommend Nicole and her team, without hesitation -- one of the best wedding vendor experiences we had. I was having trouble cutting the cake(!), and she took over and doled out slices for everyone. I'm not a review writer -although I know the importance of this-, but having my wedding at Boston with Nicole have been one of the best experience my wife and I have had. Professionalism, punctuality and creativity are some of the skills I could mention, but to us was more important that she made us feeling great during our session (we went to several places around Boston to make shoots). I have been using Yelp for various purposes whether it was for restaurants, contractors, florists or other vendors, but I have never made an account and wrote a review. I always use the reviews to help me to make the right choice when making decisions because truthfully who would want to regret their decisions? Nicole Chan Photography is definitely a decision that my wife and I won't regret. Her work was so impressive and professional that it actually motivated me to make a Yelp account! My wife and I have seen many of Nicole's work for engagement and wedding photo shoots and found it remarkable how she is always able capture the couples' precious moment together where it can clearly show how happy and relaxed they are during their photo shoots. Also, how she was able to implement the surrounding environment to make the photos "special" with the perfect angles, lighting, etc. Her work stood-out so much among other photographers that my wife and I choose her after our initial meeting with her without even speaking to any other photographers. Nicole definitely met and exceeded our expectations after seeing the photos from our engagement photographs. Her photos came out amazing and natural. During the photo shoot, I finally understood how Nicole has been as successful as she has been in capturing photos of couples during their moments. She is a natural photographer who knows how to engage us in conversation to make the whole photo shoot process so smooth and less awkward. After all, not everyone is comfortable with kissing their significant other in front of others. After the engagement session, I expect no less from Nicole for the actual wedding. And Nicole and her crew (Karen and Winnie) did not disappoint. Our wedding was at the end of May and we were hoping a nice warm sunny spring weather day for our wedding especially because our ceremony was being held outdoor in a garden. Instead it was forecasted to be a rainy day in the low 50s. You gotta love New England!! I got very concerned that I will not be able to deliver a beautiful wedding and memorable photographs for my wife. Nicole and I communicated with each other throughout the week to discuss options to be able to prepare for the bad weather and she recommended clear bubble umbrellas. Fortunately during the day of the wedding, it was only drizzling throughout the day and we were able to take pictures outdoor and those umbrellas were definitely great props that added to the pictures. Throughout the whole day, Nicole and her crew was so energetic, friendly, passionate, and always have a smile on their face regardless of how long the day was (They were there at 6:30AM and didn't finish until 10PM) and the numerous requests she gets from us, our family and friends. During our Chinese banquet, Nicole was able to touch up some of the photos from the morning and had them on displayed that same night! Did I mentioned she was with us the whole time from the morning to the evening, I don't even know when she found time to touch up the photos! Talk about efficiently! Over 1000 photographs were taken and they were ready within 2.5 weeks. As expected, the photos were AMAZING! Can't wait until we put the album together with her! Overall, I had a great experience with Nicole Chan Photography and I know she won't disappoint! I can't recommend Nicole enough. We just received our wedding pictures this week ( a record 2.5 weeks after our wedding!) and we were quite simply blown away by the photos; they were everything we hoped for and more! Nicole and her assistant, Karen, managed to capture all of our "big" moments throughout the day in an incredibly moving and poignant way, but also all of the smaller moments that we didn't get to see and that were perhaps even more moving. Nicole and Karen were amazing throughout the day as well and we have them to thank for keeping us on time. When we started looking for a wedding photographer, I was immediately drawn to Nicole for her photography style. When I met her in person, I knew right away she was the person I wanted to capture our big day. She is full of energy and clearly so passionate about what she does. I met her and Karen (2nd shooter) a few weeks before the wedding to scope out the venue and get some ideas for where we would take photos. Words are not enough to express how absolutely amazing Nicole is at what she does. Her photographs are BEAUTIFUL. Nicole was the very first vendor we booked for our 7.13.13 wedding. My now husband hired Nicole to shoot his proposal and the photographs were so stunning we hired her right away for our wedding. Nicole is funny, charismatic and professional. She knows how to organize large groups of people and get gorgeous portraits without taking a ton of time. She knows how to be bossy but polite at the same time. So many of guests told us how fabulous they thought the photographers were. They captured so many wonderful moments without being intrusive. Nicole also brought two secondary photographers who were fabulous. We just got our pictures back last week and my husband and I probably spent two hours looking through them the first time. Even though we knew how amazing Nicole's work is firsthand from our proposal shoot we were truly blown away. Nicole, Karla, and Norm did such a beautiful job capturing just how happy and joyous everyone was. Looking at the pictures instantly brings me back to our wedding day. We shared the photos with our family and friends and they were truly blown away. Nicole also does a fabulous photo booth and brings in TONS of fun props- I would highly recommend adding this on! Booking Nicole will be one of the easiest and best decisions you make. We are so thrilled to have such stunning photos so that we can remember our wedding for the rest of our lives. The only complaint I have is that my husband and I have NO IDEA how we will be able to choose the pictures for our albums. There are too many to choose from. Seriously. When someone is passionate about their work, it shows. My fiance and I recently had our engagement session with Nicole, and we had an outstanding time working with Nicole. Before the shoot, she was very responsive to emails and very open to our ideas, as well as helpful with providing suggestions for where to go for our session. During our photo shoot, she was great at helping my fiance and I feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera, and was able to capture the whimsy of each moment perfectly. She also has an amazing eye for finding unique and interesting backdrops, incorporating many different colors, backgrounds and textures into our photos as we sauntered around the streets of Boston. We had a great time during the session - we never felt rushed or awkward, and we really enjoyed the entire experience. After our shoot, we got the photos back in less than a day - lightening speed! After looking at Nicole's impressive portfolio, it was a no brainer to choose her as our wedding photographer. It was one of the easiest decisions I made in our planning! I first met with Nicole in person over coffee in which she showed me an example of a wedding album of her work in person and we discussed my wedding in more details as well as my personal likes and style. I knew I had made the right decision right there. Nicole is extremely organized to the enth degree which I appreciate. Her contract and customer online portal make everything transparent. Nicole is also very responsive via email. She includes a lengthy questionnaire to get to know you and your "must have" pictures documented right. I was married on the day of the Red Sox parade. No amount of wedding planning can prepare you for a city wide parade with road closures. Our hotel was smack dab in the middle of the parade route. Nicole and her team lugged their equipment on public transportation and made sure they got to the hotel early. That is dedication! Nicole and her team are super fun to work with. They are laid back but will instruct you, step in, and make helpful suggestions when needed. Oh and super cute, they sent us a box of sweet treats around the holidays. Again, Nicole's work speaks for herself. This is not your standard cheesy posed wedding photograph; it is art, it is beautiful captured moments that we will cherish forever. Nicole helped my husband plan a surprise proposal and the followed it with an engagement photo session, we loved everything she did down to where she had us place our feet... So of course we would use her for our wedding!! We have just been given all of the photos from our wedding and both my husband and I absolutely love the photos, as well as all of our friends and family. Nicole's humor puts everyone at ease and we were able to have fun and take beautiful photos. We knew that we were in good hands with her and the rest of the photography team. Nicole captured moments that we would've never seen because the wedding day goes by so fast, and as a bride and groom, you get pulled in so many directions. Our wedding photos gave us a chance to re-live the day over and over. We are ecstatic with how the photos turned out. If you are looking for normal photos of guests standing together with the bride and groom non-stop all day, then she is not for you. Don't get me wrong, of course you need some of those photos to please the parents, but Nicole's photography is above and beyond awesome. Our wedding blended Vietnamese and Korean culture, and it was nice to have photographers capture moments that reflected both cultures, which are very important to our elders. Nicole is absolutely amazing at what she does. Taking pictures comes naturally to her. She can see the right angles and views that I would never think looks good... until you see the end results. My pictures were gorgeous. I am not a photogenic person. Im the one that says "oh no, delete that one" every time someone takes a picture of me. With Nicole, I couldnt decide which ones to take home! I loved them all! She helped during the entire shoot, keeping us feeling comfortable and making the poses look natural. You can tell she loves what she does. Staff was friendly and helpful. Call me an old timer, but I felt the finished prints for sale were expensive! Student told my guest they were not scheduled to be in anymore photos he or she did not think, so guest was difficult to find and so did not make one of the photos. Staff packed up just before last song and missed an outstanding photo opportunity. Web site was not working properly when ordering photos and unclear/without directions. read more

Over the past weekend, I had hired Nicole to photograph a baby shower that I was hosting for my sister who flew out from San Francisco. I remember when I spoke with my sister few months back, she had wish she hired a photographer to photograph this special event (since it was the first baby to be born in our family).
