I have to disagree with the previous reviewer. Perhaps the owner has changed since August but the owner that we met was very friendly and talkative. He even sat down and ran through the menu and chatted with us about where we were from.
We popped in after a wet and muddy dog walk, absolutely starving and they accommodated us even though it was quite late after normal lunch serving hours.
Here's a big thumbs up - They allow dogs in! This is a constant challenge for us but they were very happy to accommodate our labrador and even took the time to make a fuss of her and even gave her biscuits and cooked her a sausage! So lovely of them.
The menu - This is so extensive (everything from curry to sandwiches to fish), which initially worried me as I think it's hard to be consistently good when you're offering so many options. However, my fears were put to rest when our food arrived.
We split a sweet potato, coconut and chilli soup (no fuss when we asked to split it - they simply put it in two bowls with a piece of bread each) which was tasty (with a little extra seasoning).
Then full disclosure, I only had a jacket potato with tuna mayo and cheese, so not that hard to screw up. But it was very tasty and well cooked with good fillings.
My fiance had a beef balti (and he even told us what butcher he'd got the beef from) which he said was the best balti he'd ever had - even better than an indian restaurant!
They had some great sounding desserts but we were a bit full by that point.
It's a very relaxed, no frills place but good value with friendly staff. read more
