That's highly unusual. In my experience, both locally and elsewhere, a routine cleaning appointment is just that--scheduled, straightforward, and completed in one visit without unnecessary hurdles. The inconsistency between staff members, combined with the lack of clarity around something as basic as a cleaning, made the process feel unnecessarily complicated. It also gave the impression that the visit could turn into something more than what was initially requested, which felt more like a setup for potential upselling than a patient-centered approach. Took care of things the way I liked by not doing expensive work if it wasn't absolutely necessary. Then I needed an implant because of a fractured root. The person who was subbing for him sent me next door and I gave it a look, but decided to go to someplace close to me for all the work (implant and crown). I came back for my normal yearly exam and he absolutely tore into me and didn't want to even perform an exam let alone look to address any concerns I had. Told me to go the same dentist I had my implant for besides he could help me since I didn't go to the oral surgeon they recommended. I've never returned and I never will. Not sure what happened to him, but he's not the same person I knew. If he treats a patient of nearly 25 years like that, how's he treat new patients? Really sad and disappointed in him.
