There was nothing wrong with our bathroom before, it was just outdated. They did a decent job, but now we're noticing mold growing all over the cabinets. We've never had a mold problem before. Mold is growing under the sink, in the drawers, it's especially growing on the pieces of wood where it's been cut and the edges are rough. We told Mark about it, he came out and said maybe the cabinets are sealing too well so he put cushions on the cabinet doors and drawers. He also re caulked the sinks, and put on wall penetration covers. He took moisture readings behind the vanity and said it was saturated with water and proceeded to cut a huge hole in our hallway. Upon inspecting all the pipes, there was no sign of any leaks. We didn't do anything different in the bathroom, but there I was having to scrub mold off my new bathroom cabinets. The only thing that has changed in the last 7 years of having this house is the new bathroom cabinets that we had Gulf Coast Builders build and install, and now there is mold. Now Mark wants $350 for repairing the hole he cut in my wall. We didn't ask him to cut the hole in the wall, and he didn't tell us beforehand that he was going to charge us $350 to repair. Now he's not responding to us since we told him we shouldn't have to pay for the wall damage he created. We've called and texted him and no reply. Attached are all my moldy pictures and the big hole in my wall. I wouldn't recommend this company.

The builder does low-quality work is can be seen by the naked eye. We wanted to find someone that would meet our needs and OUR wants. We set a meeting with Houston Builders and they sent Jakob out. From day one, he listened to what we wanted and needed for the space. He helped us design and come up with a plan based on our budget. He also made sure we don't exceed our budget. The finish product, we got exactly what we wanted and then some. We did everything within budget and time frame. We are very happy that we decided to go with Houston Builders. We were one of the unfortunate people that had flood damage due to Hurricane Harvey. End result of…read morethe flooding was that we had to rebuild the first floor of our home. We opted to use the opportunity to do a little remodeling work in the process. Kaleidoscope came recommended by my neighbor across the street who had already started his rebuilding project. I talked to Jamie from Kaleidoscope as well as two other contractors to secure bids. Kaleidoscope came in cost competitive, but more importantly I felt more comfortable with Jamie than with other contractors. Jamie spent much more time working through the options with me, explained everything clearly and generally gave me much more confidence that this wasn't going to be one of those projects where I felt frustrated and disappointed at the end and was in the dark on what was going on or where I'd constantly have to chase after and push the contractor. That proved to be an accurate expectation throughout the process. While it wasn't a remodeling we would have chosen to take on, it was a good experience. Jamie was always available to talk, work through things, talk through alternatives, talk through costs of different options and I found him to be extremely flexible. His team was very professional, got work done efficiently and did a good job. Where sub-contractors came into play, given strong demand for workers I knew going in that there might be delays or other issues. Any time contractor availability became a challenge, Jamie always had a secondary plan ready to be implemented and everything moved along pretty smoothly. In the end, we had to slow down the project on our end as our insurance adjuster was slow and it began to look likely we'd be finished before ever receiving a flood insurance check. While I'm sure he would have liked to press forward and finish the work, he was more than happy to slow things down and time completion to where we wouldn't be put under a financial squeeze. Since completion, as you'd expect we have had a couple of things pop up and Jamie has dealt with them immediately and resolved the issue. He didn't just disappear once the job was done, he's been available to handle issues as well as to provide advice on things unrelated to the job. The experience was for us so positive that when we needed to tear our our walkway and replace it later on in the year, we went straight to Jamie and were again happy with the results.
