We recently moved into an 8-year old home that was very boring, all builder grade decorations/colors, and my wife wanted to do a facelift on living area, kitchen, gameroom and two bedrooms. We interviewed several interior decorators, but The Design Firm won our business due to their incredible professionalism, creativity and the attention to detail was palpable. We had a series of meetings with designer, Jenn (cant remember last name), and even Kara (the owner) participated in some of our meetings. They even created an artist rendering of what we could expect with the finished project which was icing on the cake for a husband with no vision! The total project took about 3 months and they handled everything from choosing the final colors, ordering furniture, light fixtures, and paints, completed install in a timely fashion, but always alerted us of timeline of project, including one delay due to item being on back order. My wife really wanted project complete in time for a special party and The Design Firm worked diligently to make sure project was complete in time for party, communication was outstanding and helped relieve wife's stress. I HIGHLY recommend The Design Firm to make your visions become a reality, I am now a true believer in having an outside interior decorator handle your vision, and our finished project is stunning and gets compliments from all of our guests! We also took her advice as far as an accent paint color to use in an otherwise entirely beige house. Elaine is very affordable ($75/hour with no minimum time frame; other designers have much higher rates and have a minimum of at least 2-3 hours) and follows up via text to make sure you're happy with where things are. We are so grateful for her help because decorating a new space is a daunting task and just moving alone is crazy expensive, let alone hiring professional help to design it. For example, I was not liking my dining room but couldn't figure out exactly why as I liked each piece but just it just didn't look right all together somehow. Missy brilliantly suggested the light fixture was too small, unremarkable and hung too high over the table. She suggested that changing it to something more dramatic that would make more of a statement would help bring the room together. I had never thought of the light fixture as being a problem. Really I had never thought of it at all, but sure enough once I made that change it was a dramatic improvement and led the way to me changing out one of the main pieces of art, getting rid of two side chairs and a putting a different side table in that looked good with the new modern chandelier. I love my dining room now! It's my eclectic style, but it's cohesive, and I never would have gotten there without Missy's consultation. She also just has great taste and such extensive experience that she has the perfect "eye", which allows her to quickly and with great accuracy nail the paint color or tile size that will look best, or warn you away from the problems you might run into with a particular fabric or an uncomfortable chair depth or a rug that's too small for the space.. They started installing tile in the shower when you could see the waterproofing was missing in a 24" x10" area. They were paid over $70,000 and the supplies were not ordered. They did not pay their subcontractor even though the Salgados were paid in full for subcontractor's work. These are awful people. I think the other reviews are probably not from real clients.
