AVOID AMBITRANS MEDICAL TRANSPORT [I had to offer 1 star in order to compete a review. ] They do not deserve any stars. They refused to accept Medicare as payment and I was forced to put the cost from Cape Coral Hospital to Sarasota Hospital on our credit card. They over charged by $300.00. It took 1 year to get reimbursed and I was not able to get the additional $300.00 returned. Medicare would only reimburse their allowed fee. I wrote to the Office of Medicare, the FL Health Dept. and the state senators. A complaint was registered. I don't believe that affects Ambitran or does anything to improve their horrible serviceand practices. Byron Donalds answered, but was unable to take any action. I would like to hope that all the complaints will effect Ambirans business. read more

Do not let them take you from Sarasota Memorial North Port ER to Sarasota Memorial Hosptial. If you can avoid it take your self to the hospital. They charged me 785.00 to take me and never submited the claim to insurance and than sent it to collections. I called collections to try and work out a deal and they would not work out a deal with me. They also would not excecpt payment over the phone with my debit card unless I wanted to pay a 35.00 fee for it. They would only except my bank rounting and account number for no fee. This company is EXACTLY what gives private ambulance companies a bad name. I was transported from Naples, FL to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and after it took several days to get it set up, they forced my husband to pay over $4000 upfront, even though Humana TriCare had already given them verbal approval. When I finally got home weeks later, I discovered they had charged my husband approximately $600 over what he was required to pay (no explanation); they processed a refund. All I had was an invoice, which I filed myself. More than two months later, I finally got the word from Humana that their billing people were not responding to requests for additional information. I worked between Humana TriCare and Ambitrans for over a week, while being told that the insurance company was not going to pay for it (by Ambitrans), because it was my choice (my choice to get my cancer surgery with the specialist who had all my tests and records). Humana said this was blatantly untrue. It is my understanding that they are a Tricare-certified provider (not in-network, but certified). That information came from Tricare; Ambitrans says not true. I have signed THREE medical record release forms and still the claim has not been processed. They even told me they would never have required payment upfront; yet, my husband was made to pay it before they would transport me. They screwed this up royally and now they don't want to fix it, because I should never have paid that amount. BEWARE!!!!!!! read more

I was to be transported from a Naples, FL hospital to a Gainesville, FL hospital which was due to a higher level of care at the Gainesville hospital taking into consideration the care that was needed for my condition. On the drive to the Gainesville hospital the driver of the ambulance fell asleep at the wheel and veered off the side of the road. Luckily for me, my wife was accompanying me to the Gainesville hospital and was riding in the cab with the driver. My wife had to wake the driver up from his sleep to keep us from crashing on the side of the road. The driver was drinking 24 Hour Energy drinks during the entire drive to help him keep awake, due to us driving all night to get there. If my wife had not been accompanying me to Gainesville, we almost assuredly would have crashed off the road and good chance of everyone on board being killed or at least hurt and we all would have been riding in another ambulance to get there. Now, Ambitrans is trying to collect $3000 from me after the insurance has already paid the $5700. Ambitrans stated my insurance is out-of-network with them. Using Ambitrans was not my choice as I did not have a choice in this. It was done without my preference. I have made a formal complaint directly after being driven to Gainesville about the incident and All Ambitrans can say is "Well, our Operations Department said we can set you up on monthly payments if need be, but the full amount is due on your account. This trip could have cost me my life, not mention my wife's and the two Ambitrans employees on board. Ambitrans doesn't care and refuses to listen to anything unless you are paying your bill in full. Good luck getting my payment. If you looking to die, choose Ambitrans. Your payment means more to them than anyone's life does. read more

Horrible treatment. Crew arrived after four hours and against my wishes and direction installed EKG sensors that provided no benefit however the sensors were painful. The crew were dysfunctional. If you have a choice use another ambulance service. The company is refusing to supply the history and medical records, although they have the records available. read more

Customer service is lacking. Called to get a relative transported home from rehab, the main concern seemed to be who's paying the bill. They also quoted 1 price at first then they changed the price by a few hundred when I called to make the final arrangement. Each time I had to contact them even though they said they would call me with details and confirmation. I felt as if I was a bother and they really didn't want my business. read more

Would not recommend this company to anyone interested in getting into EMS. The way they treat their employees is very poor. Very professional interview, but as soon as it came to field training I was harassed and talked down to. I did not receive a check off sheet, I was not evaluated at the end of each shift to help identify what skills I needed to work on. I was then terminated for 1 incident of trouble finding BP with a bakeract with multiple layers of clothing and uncooperative. Ambitrans has a huge turn over rate, and this is why. They treat their employees very poorly and differently depending on seniority. If Gil Young is your FTO make sure to get it changed as he doesn't always tell the truth. Do not waste your time for $10 a hour to be harassed and talked down to. read more

This transportation sucks! The worse experience with them ever! my son is trached and special needs and needs ambulance transportation for doctors appts and all they do is cancel on you last minute and no show they have canceled on my 3 year old son more then 8 times now. They are the worse ambulance transfer in the whole entire world!!! do not use them they are not reliable and they will cancel and no show on you all the time! Never trust them! read more

The transport was fine. Billing awful! They had my insurance information when they transported me on 10/15/19. They sent me a bill a couple of months later, so I called and gave them my insurance information again. I had met my deductible and owed nothing out of pocket. I received another bill 2 months later, so once again I called them and gave them my insurance information. I assumed that Ambitrans had been paid by my insurance. In July, I received a bill from United We Collect Agency. (I never received a "demand for payment/last notice," letter from Ambitranz). I was shocked and upset. I have a credit score of over 800 and pay my bills on time. I disputed the bill with United We Collect. They were very kind and understanding. I called Ambitrans again and gave them my insurance info, asking them to refile with them. The woman was snippy and said, she would do so, "as a courtesy," as if she was doing me a favor. Do they not want to get paid? That's her job. She used this phrase at least 3 times in my calls with her. It was a mix up between Ambitrans and my insurance. Very poor billing and customer service. read more

I was transported from North Port to Sarasota, FL. at the cost of $875 for a 30 mile trip that required ZERO medical attention from the attendant during the ride! After receiving my first bill, I contacted Ambitrans to set up monthly payment arrangements and have been making faithful, on-time payments each and every month to pay off my balance. Without warning and without provocation, I received a letter demanding payment, claiming it was my "final notice" to make payment or set up arrangements, threatening me they will send me to collections if I don't!! Get it together Ambitrans!! It's not nice to bully a customer who IS paying their bill!!!! read more

Hospice arranged for my father to brought home from the hospital. I keep getting billed from Ambitrans because they say my father's insurance denied the claim because of missing information. I explained that my father has 3 different insurances and the order they filed the claim was incorrect. After explaining again that Hospice took take of all of this, that I had nothing to do with it the "customer service agent" stated that Hospice will have to call them that they don't handle doing that. I said I understand but maybe they should file with the other insurance service since it was done in the wrong order. She got snippy with me and said they have BCBS as the 2nd insurance not the third. I said I understand but that is incorrect and i'm am just trying to help them get their money but I honestly don't care at this point. She said that she would be sure to record that in her notes. This nonsense is the last thing I should have to deal with along with dealing with my father's death. You filed the insurances incorrectly so refile. read more
