This movie theater has been around for decades. Tonight I took my wife on a date to see a movie there. The staff there were excellent and very friendly! I wish I could say better things about the venue itself but I can't. The venue is the same as its been when I used to go there as a kid needing parental approval to watch PG-13 movies. The seats are super uncomfortable, some seats are even completely ripped up and the screen is "in your face." We sat 4 row from the back and it felt too close. Unfortunately you can't change some things. On a better note, i do like how the theater positions themselves to be family oriented by offering family events and discounts. read more

Look, I know movies are probably expensive to play at a theater and it is hard to compete with some cinemas that have upgraded to recliner seats and alcohol sales, but let's get real. When you run a theater that was state-of-the-art sometime in the early nineties (originally owned by a major chain) and you have not even bothered to upgrade your seating you should not be allowed to charge the same amount as a modern theater for admission. Period. Not to mention offering bags of popcorn for the same price or more ($8.50) and large sodas ($8.50). I'm sure the "convenience" for me walking up to the concession stand to purchase my ticket was originally meant for my benefit and has nothing to do with not being able to properly staff an aging theater when Suicide Squad only pulled in 12 people just after a record-breaking opening weekend. My stomach hurts from chowing down the first "annual special" plastic bucket of popcorn so I could get my $15.00 worth and get my refill before the nine trailers finished prior to the start of the new DC Extended Universe release. I swear it's the same upholstery I farted in when I was reaching puberty in 1991. Anyways, if you can drive to a nicer modern IMAX theater with stadium seating, save your arse the trouble. 10-01-2013: I can't wait until this theater is sold again. Maybe another cinema will take them over. -Another theater (less than 4 miles away) charges $6.50 for the first showing (except -for 3D). This old, sad, stinky theater charges $9.50 because they said, "it was a movie that it's producer will not let them discount their movies???" WTF??? Seriously, at least make up a better excuse than that, especially when you competitors discount the same movie? We drove the 4 miles to see the same movie for $3 less. And like the other reviewers, this theater is old, smells funky, picture is dim the seats are uncomfortable. I also get tired of hearing the next movie booming through the walls. This place was remodeled a whole back. It has recliner seats with heated seats good food (expensive though). Customer service went up as well. Downside are simple things still uncomfortable. For one pricing for food is ridiculous. Chicken tenders are about $16 (are they-made of Panda?) Second is what happens when people go to a comfortable place they take off their shoes stinking up the place with their smelly feet (that's not on the staff however rules on this would be much appreciated). read more

I had to redeem a free popcorn and soda at amc from coke rewards from putting in codes. My hubby and I didn't think the chairs would reclined and have heated seats. My hubby didn't like the heated part. I liked it but it gets pretty hot after awhile and it takes awhile ago cool down. Other than that the movie theater is being remodel. Hopefully it will look better and have machines to scan your tix. I'm used to walking in and scanning it on my phone but we had to do it from the movie teller. read more

Most amazing movie theatre experience. So...last week I hurt my leg and now I'm in a boot and crutches. And on my day off (yesterday) I decided to go watch the new Avengers (amazing btw) and I wanted a large popcorn, drink and an order of food. And the worker (Ryan?) who took my order was amazingg, he offered to follow me to my seat with my popcorn and stuff and brought me my pretzel bites, and even filled my drink and buttered my popcorn!!!! I like this theater for comfort and closeness to home. It's a little small- and no stadium seating- but not too bad. It's cheaper than edwards or amc. About 12 for adults at night. My biggest complaint is sometimes the snack bar closes super early. When you buy a large popcorn, you are supposed to get a free refill.. Well two times I've gone and come out during the movie for a refill.. and snack bar is closed... really annoying.. But other than that nice little comfy theater.. read more

This is kinda dumb how we don't get refills for a slushy and we have to use another bucket for popcorn.

This experience has improved so much since changing to seat reservations. The reclining, heated seats are very clean and comfortable and the price here is better than other similar theaters.I wish the seating was on a higher grade with the screen but still good. This theatre definitely has the best service of any in San Diego. Manager Michael was able to help me with any issues and was able to handle some nearby difficult guests very well. Despite what you see people have written about the employees here, just know there are two sides of the story! such a disappointment. went for the first time after hearing good things. first off the employees were incredibly mean. i first was told i couldn't use my online tickets for the taylor swift movie. no were did i see a message on the film saying anything like that. i explained to her i dont live near there and wouldn't be able to drive back down to see another movie with a ticket. I just bought online. i just wanted to be up charged. she was rude and basically told me oh whale. should have left then. the person selling me new tickets, was also rude. i was looking at the seats discussing with my friends and she was snappy. then the concession was the worst. asked to see the taylor cup, i wanted to compare it to regals. she said "its just a cup with her face." and didnt move. i told her im aware , i wanted to compare the differences. she straight up rolled her eyes and GRABBED the cup and held it up. wouldn't allow me to touch it. lmfao it was very petty. she was incredibly unkind. walked away after BUYING SAID CUP AND SHE TOLD HER COWORKERS SHE CANT STAND "THESE PEOPLE." the asked another associate to trade bracelets (what they were promoting) and she made fun of how many me and my friends had. i was shooooccked with how MEAN everyone was. my friends who had been there before I had never experienced that at that theater, but I will never be back now because of it. I have tickets that I have to go use and it sucks. the theater was clean but the cracked leather on the neck of the seats sticks to your neck. certain seats are smaller than others; making some not accommodating to larger ppl. our experience was completely ruined. read more

If there were a way to leave fewer than 1 Star i would do it. My husband and i got a sitter for a rare "date night" and decided to go see a movie. The tickets were sold out at Angelica (our favorite) so we decided to go to AMC Dine In Poway. I grabbed a Starbucks iced tea next door and was told by the kid working at the door that i couldn't come in so i needed to take it outside to finish (my treats iced tea). I asked if i could talk to a manager and see if they would make an exception. My husband set off to grab a drink at the bar. I decided it wasn't worth the wait so i went outside to dispose of the iced tea and went back in. As i entered i saw the ticket taker kid talking with someone that i presumed to be the "manager'. I walked by and said "never mind" because i no longer needed his special permission. As i walked away to find my husband at the bar he followed me and asked me what i needed. I explained that i was going to ask for permission to bring my iced tea in but i decided it wasn't worth the hassle. He proceeded to get in my face and called me "rude and aggressive" at least four times. I told him that i wasn't being rude or aggressive simply by saying "never mind". My husband noticed the discussion and came up. When he heard the "manager" call me rude and aggressive again he got involved and the manager put his hand up in our faces and kicked us out of the theater. It was the most ridiculous reaction/worst customer service i have ever seen. The power trip was unbelievable, he ruined our evening and I will never go to that movie theater again. read more

An old theatre which is begging for a renovation...the seats arent very confortable and I definitely felt something biting me...The place had a weird smell and the restrooms were clean yet smelled horrible... Picture quality was ok..not crisp...the staff was nice but the infrastructure of this theatre needs an update..I guess it is still stuck in the 90s. read more

For two movies in a row, the aspect ratio on the screens have been off. During the summer, "The Lion King" was too big for the screen and the picture was off the screen and on the curtains. Then again, last night "Joker" was too small for the screen. About 20% (10% on each side of the picture) was unused and glaringly obvious. What's the point of paying for a movie ticket for a big screen when the screens aren't optimized for the movies you pay to see? read more

So I don't expect much when it comes to non-luxury theatres. So take this as you will. We went in for the last show so everything was close to being shut down. They staff was extremely friendly and struck my a conversation which was nice. The best part of this whole experience was the price. $6.00 per ticket for an evening show! The Edwards charges $12 per ticket. At that price you would expect the theatres to look like crap. However, that isn't the case. Their theatres were extremely clean. No popcorn or trash anywhere which is a feat I must tell you. Their wasn't a lot people in the theatre on a Thursday night but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. My sister got a kid's meal and she said the popcorn wasn't stale or had been sitting for hours on in. Which is nice. Overall, it's a nice theatre and I would go back again. I'd call this place retro. Many call it old and run down. It is very close to home and we can walk there. Perhaps that justifies all the popcorn I eat. Hahaha. I'm sure they struggle to compete with the big barns theatre. Their price is reasonable and I've yet to be in an overly crowded movie. They have most of the popular current showings and their snacks are par for these types of establishments. The seats are a little old and could get uncomfortable with the length of movies these days. The popcorn could be better but that everywhere in my opinion, even the big name theatre. There was one time that the restrooms needed attention but hey it happens. My family and I came in last night to watch Thor:Love and Thunder at 6pm. When we fall in line for Premiere members to order food, we were called and helped by a blonde lady crew member who was wearing a black cap. I said the first order as soon as I get in the line, my second order I had to check first the menu to decide what to get and for the third order as well. As I was doing that, I felt that she became impatient. I even say "sorry" to that blonde lady crew member but she didn't respond. She's just staring at me, so I felt uncomfortable and pressured. I even heard her telling these words to her lady supervisor. She told her that "she seems gonna be running out of patience" and then her supervisor reacted by laughing sarcastically. After I hear that I stared at both of them to remember their faces. They were really rude! My point here is that both of them shouldn't react that way. They must have been nice to all their customers and be patient with them. They should provide great customer service. Hoping and looking forward that the AMC management would work on providing great customer service to all their guests/customers. They must see to it that all their employees are exercising great customer service. read more

[She was sweet, did nothing wrong, but AMC policy deserves a Class Action Suit on this.] Oh, ok that's nice! I look at my receipt: $1 Seat Delivery Fee. I did not want that! I'm ok waiting where it says "Food Pickup" area. Manager slinks out to help us because the Millenial Register Girl did not understand my frustration. Mgr says, "Nooo sorry, fire code, no one can wait for food, it gets too crowded, so all food must be delivered." Uhmm. The price board doesn't say either "[we increased prices by $1] Price already includes $1 Delivery Fee" nor, "$1 Delivery Fee Will be Added To All Hot Food Orders." 2. No scrolling ticker in hallways to confirm Movie Title as you enter Theatre 1, 2, 3 etc. 3. Screens have ambient light reflecting on them in the lower left and lower right corners from the doors, esp during previews, and also when people go in and out. 4. Men's room sinks and soap dispensers, usually only one is working, and water comes out super hot. 5. MacGuffins doesn't offer the 22oz like AMC Mission Valley, which is the best value. 6. No Dolby, no IMAX but RealD-3D is nice to have. 7. I ordered rub wings then changed it to bbq, they said ~25mins, they incorrectly brought me rub wings ~40mins later, but rub approx 10ct wings were delicious so I don't mind!! A great value at $13.99 with deliv fee. Compliments: 1. See wings comment. 2. Staffers other than this mgr are super friendly, esp bartenders. 3. Love the recliners and heated seat feature. Tonight was my first time here. It was by far the worst theater I've ever been to and that's really saying something. I wish I could give 0 stars. We arrived about 10 minutes before showtime. As soon as we purchased our tickets out front (the ticket office has service windows that are next to the entry doors), I was expecting someone to check that I had a ticket but there was no one after the actual ticket window. We walked straight inside to the theater on our ticket, and no one would have known if I actually bought one. We walked in and the theater was filthy. It had NOT been cleaned after the last show... Yes, I'm for real. There was spilled popcorn all over the floor, various sodas and cups still in the cup holders, and various wrappers and trash everywhere you looked. I went to the guy at the concessions stand to tell him and he said that their cleaning person was on the other side of the theater. I stressed to him that the show was starting in 5 minutes so why would they still even clean? I don't think he understood the fact that they failed to do the minimum requirements of their job. The fact that we walked into that was completely unacceptable and this really made us mad. We stayed and watched the movie because we had already made the drive to do so. The bathroom upstairs was dirty also. I do not recommend coming here. You could literally walk in without having purchased a ticket AND we walked into a completely trashed theater. Terrible customer service. Their website advertised a movie started at 10:30 in the morning and 12:30. We drove across town to get to the theater for the 10:30 show and then it wasn't playing it hadn't played for a week. They hadn't updated their website so we were misled and wasted a lot of our time. After talking to the manager she spent about 10 minutes trying to find the listing on the website and then she had nothing to say about it except sorry. I'll never go back to that theater. read more

@amctheatres not amazing! The Poway theater needs a major facelift and staff needs to learn about new coupons when you decide to put them out. $5 coupon for a 20oz icee (which they didn't know which one was a 20oz to begin with?!?!) and filled a popcorn bag, then came back saying I think it's this bag (that is smaller than a small bag). They were going to give the whole thing to me for free until I told them it was $5 (at least I'm honest). I finally ended up spending the full amount for a 20oz icee and popcorn (no idea what size) because our movie was starting and wasn't going to wait any longer. The only redeeming quality of this place is the wonderful gentleman at the front taking tickets, he is courteous and so friendly. If you ever do update, do not leave a gem like him behind! read more

Nice remodel, but the staff needs a leader to organize the team. We went here last week after the remodel and ordered a burger. The staff said that they would deliver it to us, but they never did. After 45 minutes, my husband followed up and they said that they forgot. They are super disorganized. He missed 10 minutes of the movie and they didn't deliver the burger. This week we tried again. We knew that food was complicated, so we ordered two drinks, a water and a coffee. We arrived 10 minutes early so we wouldn't miss the movie. Unfortunately, they didn't have water that was cold so my husband ordered a fountain drink. I asked for cream and Splenda with my coffee. The girl said that they had both. When she poured the coffee, she spent 5 minutes looking for a lid. I could tell it was a struggle. Then, she sent me away to look for creamer and Splenda. She thought I could find it in the lobby, but that was not correct. I came back and told her it wasn't there. Then, she asked two people and no one knew where it was. Then, she asked one more person, who thought it would be on a different counter. She sent me away again. Unfortunately, that information was also incorrect. She then, turned to me and said "Someone will get it for you." There was no one doing this. After waiting 5 more minutes, I realized I was again late for the movie. I asked her for a refund. While I was waiting for this, a boy named Michael started looking for creamer underneath the counter. He seemed frustrated because he also could not find creamer. I repeated that I wanted a refund. He turned to me and said "Don't be rude when I am trying to help you." I told him that I wasn't being rude, we couldn't find creamer, I had searched far and wide and so had they, and I wanted a refund because we were missing the movie. He kept telling me that I was rude. I was surprised because I hadn't said much. I wasn't mad or complaining. They could not find creamer, that was that. He was really upset. The girl did not refund our money and Michael told us to leave the movie theater. I will be contacting the owner to recommend that Michael is terminated. Picking fights with customers is not professional. They should have apologized for being disorganized and refunded us for the cost of the coffee. My husband poured some of the coffee on the counter to express his displeasure with Michael. read more

Still not feeling the good vibes at this theater. Sure it's been remodeled from the "pack'em-all-in-like-sardines" days as AMC has taken over and put in better seats and dining options. Yet I can't escape the feeling that all the changes are for not (or is it naught?). The pros: friendly employees, fresh & tasty popcorn, reclining and HEATED seats. The cons: the seating maps are not good representations of how close you are to the screen, seats are at a bad low angle to the screen, their projection equipment is either old or defective as the movies looked gray and washed out with very poor color output. And I get better sound in my car than in this theater! Another con: those reclining seats are supposed to feel comfy, but the pleather gets uncomfortably warm (without the heater on, mind you) and hard to sit on after a couple of hours...even in full recline mode. Sorry, but with Angelika and other higher-end theaters out there with better screens and sound, I just have no desire to return. read more
