After TWO FAILED and expensive visits which included the installation of a new 30-amp 240-volt…read moreGFCI-protected dryer circuit and the replacement of the AFCI/GFCI breaker for the laundry circuit, Affordable Electric left me with an unusable laundry room. To avoid more costs and potentially more problems, I called in another company. Within 10 minutes, they found faulty wiring of the new dryer outlet and breaker, then found that the "new" breaker for the washer was not new but faulty as well. I gave Affordable Electric the opportunity to reimburse me for the $1200 cost to fix their errors, but they responded with lots of excuses. So, please be careful if you call these guys. They caused me more harm than good AND were not affordable.

Absolutely crazy! Apparently most electricians are now charging fees to just come out and give…read moreestimates. This process in the past has led to some electricians to try and charge us $800 to to replace a normal outlet. Not install, just take out an outlet and replace it. We got a handyman to do it for about $50. Affordable Electric went beyond the pale. We are only asking to replace a 120V outlet with a 220V one in order to replace our gas stove with an induction stove. On the internet, estimates are about $200-300, we were prepared to pay a bit more if necessary. see https://www.angi.com/articles/price-installing-220v-line.htm They came back with a quote for $1500. Their "quote" had a listed item of $1300 that just described the job. No number of hours estimates, what the parts were nothing. This is a huge scam. These places are making you put some money down in the "estimates" in this case $49 and then completely overcharging you to make you feel invested. This is absolutely bonkers and is near criminal.

I recently bought retaining wall blocks, brick pavers, gravel, and sand from them -- about $1300…read moreworth. ISSUE #1: They delivered the wrong color retaining wall blocks. When I questioned the driver, he insisted they were the correct color. So I installed them. I needed a few more, and when I went to pick them up they brought me the correctly colored ones, so I asked that they come and pick up the installed ones (which I uninstalled before they came, but I did not haul them out to the driveway) and replace them with the correct ones. ISSUE #2: The same driver that insisted my blocks were the correct color was sent to pick up the wrong-colored blocks. He needed to go into the backyard to collect them one by one. I was not home at the time, but when I returned, the gate through which he had to pass 30+ times was sprung (i.e., it had been forced to open further than the hinges were designed to open, thus bending the hinges so that the gate would no longer close completely). Though I did not see this happen, there is no other person who would have been at our house that day, let along going through the gate. I informed the business that this had happened and they said they'd send someone out to take care of it. A week later, I was tired of waiting to be able to close the gate in order to contain my twoLabradors, so I bought new hinges and fixed it myself. A few days later, when I returned the wooden pallets to the business (in order to get my deposit back for them), I mentioned that I'd like some consideration for this. ISSUE #3: The "clerk" at the register adjacent to the one I was at spoke up and said "That's not the way it works! I'm one of the owners. I spoke to the driver, and he said the gate was open and he didn't touch it." I said "So, my claim is totally discounted because your driver said he didn't touch the gate." He said "yes". I said I'd had multiple problems dealing with them, and he said dealing with my order had been a total disaster, and directed me to leave in an aggressive tone. I must say that all of the other employees that I had dealt with were very helpful and friendly -- noticeably so (ignoring the fact that the driver had been dishonest about his mistake). However, this part-owner's very aggressive and unfair approach totally soured me on this business. UPDATE: After I emailed the part-owner (who was the offending party referred to above) indicating that I had posted this review and a similar one with the BBB, he treated the issue with the type of attitude that a customer should expect. He reimbursed me for the cost of the new hinges plus $20 for my time to replace them. His emails to me on this issue were much more civil than was my one encounter with him at his business.
