Several chimney companies came by with various approaches and pricing. I found Metro Chimney and Joe through a neighbor who had just had his chimney rebuilt through Metro and was very happy. Joe came by, gave me his bid and put me on his schedule. I was able to walk around our South Minneapolis neighborhood and see previous chimney work Metro has done. Although it was several months before they could do the work (very busy chimney repair season) I'm glad that I went with him. They rebuilt the top 5 to feet of the chimney and the Santa Fe tone brick looks great with the remaining stucco chimney and house. The crew knew what they were up to and very professional and thoughtful. The work took 4 days including the install of scaffolding. It's not cheap but much lower than the company that told me the whole chimney need replacing. Joe said they were wrong and just the top 5 feet need rebuilding. Joe is an honest hard working guy who has long term experienced employees. I had a good experience with this company.

Avoid This Company - Poor Quality, Property Damage, and Unprofessional Ownership…read more I hired this company in September 2024 to replace my walkway and garage apron. In less than a year, after the first winter the concrete started crumbling and falling apart 6 months after the job was done. After the second winter, more crumbling. To make matters worse, their crew damaged my front step chipping off a piece of it during the installation and never repaired it. Getting in touch with them has been an absolute nightmare. I reached out on April 24th with no response, followed up on April 27th, and have been given the runaround for nearly three months. Today (July 15th), I finally received a call from who I presume was the owner, Tim. Instead of standing behind his company's work, he offered to "split the cost" with me to replace the defective concrete. Expecting a customer to pay a second time to fix a job that failed in under a year is completely unacceptable and highly unprofessional. Meanwhile two of my neighbors replaced their aprons a few years back and it still looks flawless today, not a single chip, crack or crumble. This is a dishonest way to run a business. Because of their subpar work, property damage, and refusal to make things right, I will be filing a formal complaint with the BBB and pursuing legal action. Save yourself the headache and money, do not use this company.

He asked for a $2,000 deposit, which I paid on August 12th. He said he would start the work within the next week or two, but after that, I was met with excuse after excuse whenever I checked in. Every time I followed up, I got the brush-off. Finally, after months of waiting and no progress, I requested a refund on November 15th. It's now January 6th, and I still haven't received my money back. I've been given numerous reasons for the delay - the check is "in the mail," then "I'll drop it off this weekend," but nothing ever materializes. At this point, I have no choice but to consider legal action to recover my money. This has been a completely unprofessional and frustrating experience. I would strongly advise staying away from this company - it's been a scam from start to finish. On Jan 8th, I finally received a check for my deposit amount.

I needed a stack of downed branches (branches were an inch or two thick each and together stacked a few feet high and about 6ft wide) moved a few yards away to free up some stairs on a hill. I was told his minimum is $800 but he would do this for 500 with two guys. I ended up trying to do it myself and was able to move it much more easily than anticipated in only an hour and a half. Another company quoted me $225 for this job which is much more reasonable though still higher than I think it's worth. Just beware of price gouging with this company.
