Kind of in the middle of the waterfront park near the underpass of the freeways and before you start running into the flock of Finns (strange bird art) display. Not sure the significance or the reasoning behind this piece but it's cool to see some sculptures along our cities waterfront. There plenty of space and opportunity to have cool pieces like this to add to our artistic nature of the city.

The twisted steel looks much like a Mobius strip and is placed in a four sided marble plinth that is nearly impossible to read. I was able to determine that the sculpture is titled "Tetra" and the artist is Charles Perry. The artwork was donated to the park by the children and grandchildren of Sally Brown, a long-time Waterfront Park benefactor. I can remember seeing this sculpture and taking class Photos in front of it as a youngster on field trips to the performing center of the arts. It wasn't until recently where I decided to get up close and personal and read about its origins and artist on the placard that sits at the feet of the sculpture. Overall great piece that has a long lasting history with the city. Off the top of my head and memory it is the longest standing sculpture that I can envision for the city or Louisville.

This mural features a self portrait of a woman whom I assume is named Carissa. I assume Thai a person close or someone who has personal meaning to the local artist. Overall it is always fun discovering murals that are part of the alley gallery in the city of Lousiville. Such a great and creative art initiative.

I came across this mural in New Albany, Indiana. It's painted on the side of a large brick…read morebuilding, and the first thing that jumps out is the huge flowing figure of a woman with long copper colored hair. She almost looks like she's part of the wind her hair and dress swirl across the wall like music moving through the air. Around her are oversized lilies and bright stars, which makes the whole scene feel a little dreamy and theatrical. At the center behind her is a circular design with the words "New Albany Opera House 1866." That detail makes the mural feel like a tribute to the city's artistic past. The woman looks like she's singing or performing, reaching upward as if she's hitting a big final note. It ties the flowers, the stars, and the flowing shapes together into something that feels like music turned into color.

This building has been updated and converted into a space that houses multiple small businesses. You can't miss this mural as you're driving down Pearl Street in downtown New Albany. I saw it and had to get out of my car to take a photo and marvel at its Art Deco magnificence! The woman painted in the mural is definitely giving "The Lady of Shalott" vibes, and she looks like she's falling backward on a bed of flowers and butterflies, with stars coming out of her mouth. It makes me think of Tennyson's poem and also the Bjork song "Sun in My Mouth." Except homegirl has stars in her mouth. Carrie Johns, an artist from southern Indiana, is the person behind this wonderful piece of public art. If you are in the area, you should definitely check out this mural yourself.

The cardinal mascot sculpture located at main entrance and in front of the student activity center…read morefor the university of Lousiville campus is one of the most recognizable mascots in the USA. This sculpture pays homage to the iconic mascot. Created by artist Raymond Graf this 6 foot tall sculpture is a portrayal of the schools mascot of the early 1990's. While the 90's mascot isn't my favorite variant of the mascot it is a very cool Statue and fun and cool photo op. Overall a great addition to the campus that is easy accessible and viewable from south Floyd street.
