I have sent in a request to Yelp to have "CLOSED" removed. I've flown in and out of JIA quite a few times using Southwest and I've always had a really great experience. Because I'm disabled, I'm always allowed to board first. When landing here, I am last to come off the plane because they have to get my wheelchair. The stewardesses/stewards are always really helpful and are willing to assist me in any way that I need with a smile. It's greatly appreciated. I just go back and forth from Jackson to Orlando, so my flights are pretty shorty... Only about an hour and 15 minutes. I've always been quite comfortable on the flights and have no complaints. I'll continue to use Southwest, especially since they generally have the lowest fares, and also because they don't charge to check luggage.

Upon arrival, I was surprised by how small and cozy the airport was. It was extremely easy to navigate through. The baggage claim area + car rental counters were readily available downstairs and the rental center was located directly across the street. The walking distance was relatively short, which I highly appreciated. This airport is the hub for airlines such as American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines, and United Airlines. I traveled here using United Airlines via the commuter plane, which was actually the smallest airplane I've been on - "CommuteAir." I returned to this airport to fly home to California on Tuesday, 06/09/26. I had such a positive experience with the TSA line as it took under 5 minutes to get through. I must say it was the shortest TSA line that I've ever encountered in life so far, which was beyond convenient. The airport dining & shops included Samuel Adams / Riverbanks Bar & Grill, Dunkin', Pearl River Marketplace and Hudson. I had visited Hudson on 06/09/26, which was a convenience store filled with snacks, travel essentials, apparel, and so much more. I grabbed coffee and an Evian water bottle. The aesthetic of the airport was inviting. The restrooms were well-maintained and clean. All of the airport staff members were kind. Overall, Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport - JAN is such a lovely airport. Exploring around Mississippi by being surrounded by hospitable people and having access to delicious food were the highlights of the trip. I would be more than happy to visit Mississippi at some point again in the future.

While it was easy to get in and out of what was their security line, the challenge is that once inside, there really aren't any food options so plan ahead. Another challenge leaving is that you'll have to wait a long time for an uber. There weren't many other people waiting but it did take about 15 minutes for a car to be available. Just be prepared to move a little more slowly here.

I wish they would turn the machines to face the tv though. Almost all gyms have the machines facing the tv so you can watch it while exercising. The outdoor area and pool were nice. Apparently they have a free continental breakfast, but told us that was not available given the holiday, which was disappointing. The prices were decent. I would definitely return.

We were in a first floor suite I got with points- no outside noise but there was a ton of light so they had blackout blinders that worked great. All in all we had a good night sleep, got a complimentary water and treat for my status and: a good bountiful hotel breakfast! I enjoyed the warm biscuit and sausage gravy - and coffee! When, I spoke with the front desk staff, came to realize that they are owned by another owner and it crying for renovations. Hotel advertised on their website many false adds, like hot meals, clean pools. This is not true, there was nothing hot in that hotel, not even a coffee! They hand you a bag of luncheon with orange, snacks for breakfast. Coffee pot in the room is old, that we had to order out. Rooms was okay to stay when in desperate situations. Customer service was great, but they need to do more. It's not really too bad, just need some touch up and remove false adds on the website. We left and check in to another nicer hotel that actually serves hot breakfast with airport shuttle and amazing services. Be careful all and stay safe MI.
