I've been looking for a barber who can cut and style my teenage son's long hair and still have it look masculine. I got an appointment with Julian. He's pleasant and listens to your wants. My son showed him a pic and he did it with some minor adjustments because my son wanted to keep the length and still be able to put it up in a ponytail for water polo. Looks great! My son Maverick has had a few horrific experiences with his hair, and it's been hard to find someone he trusts as he feels no one has really listened to his needs. I called looking specifically for someone who would specialize in that 90's Jonathan Taylor Thomas flop that he's going for nowadays. We were referred to Taylor Jade and could not be happier. She asked how he styles his hair during the day, what he's looking for, explained what she was doing, and checked in with him often to make sure it was what he was looking for. Went in for my first haircut there today. Tagh was my hair dresser and she is absolutely incredible at her craft. This place is super nice, classy, friendly and they offered me a soft drink while I was waiting. Everybody is super easy going and friendly and the place has a very mellow vibe. I will honestly say, that was BY FAR the best haircut I've ever had. So much attention to detail and super professional. I can't say enough good things about out this place. The barbers are awesome. My kid especially liked Twan's cuts. We love the vibe of the place and have always had a great experience...EXCEPT lately, trying to get hold of anyone to schedule an appt. I had to find a barber elsewhere because I simply had no way of scheduling the appt. We used to use Vagaro to schedule but that stopped working, there isn't a website that I can find, and nobody answers the phone or replies to voicemails or Facebook messages...so I had to give up. I wish them the best--there's some great talent there! I'm not taking away stars because of this because I think the barbers are worth 5 stars. I've basically had only 2 people cut my hair my entire life. The 1st person gave me my first haircut and continued to do so for 28 years until he retired. The 2nd person cut my hair for the next 7 years until she got pregnant and closed shop. I feel pretty confident in saying I've found my 3rd person. Julian was courteous, professional, understanding, and did an awesome job. The vibe of the shop is fine. Nice leather chair, bar, TVs, music. But that's only superficial. My cut was the most traumatic thing I've experienced in recent years. Tagh'Reed Saeidah barley acknowledged me, no "Hello, how are you?" or even evaluation of my hair. Just "how do you want it, and how short on the sides" (other normal questions for anyone who cares often involve how they want the back tapered, how short the sideburns, how textured the hair, how you normally style it, what brings you here as a new client, etc). Then she proceeded to take clippers and just mash them against my head like she was trying to make mashed potatoes. It was rough, choppy, and rushed. It's seemed like she couldn't wait to get me out of the chair as soon as I sat in it. I knew there was no way the cut could be even and I'm the end it showed. Her brush that she uses to sweep hair off the neck and face was so rough and uncomfortable. The aftershave application stung as much as I thought it would, cause she was so harsh on my skin. Same as the beginning, no offer of product to style, no thanks. In the end, it was an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. If I could leave her any suggestions, if she cared, it would be to SLOW WAY DOWN, get to know your client and do the job with care. If you're having an off day or whatever, don't mess up your customers day while you're at it. read more

This is one of those places with a lot of dark wood club chairs, and a bar. They offer you a drink while you wait. I had high hopes for my haircut - the young man cutting my hair *looked* like he knew what he was doing while he was doing the cutting. But when I got home, I saw that my hair was uneven and raggedy. The hair on the top of my head wasn't blended into the hair on the side at all; it was very poorly done. There was a hunk of longer hair towards the front. I combed my hair forward and saw the bangs were way off, super long on one side and too short on the other. I suppose the barber could have been new on the job, or having a bad day. What irked me is that the more senior person who came in towards the end of my cut -- perhaps the manager or owner of the business? -- didn't notice or say anything. He collected my $50 (!) plus tip and sent me on my way... Normally I'd go back and ask for repairs but this time I decided to cut my losses. read more

I brought my son, four years old, here for a haircut. He has the cutest curly hair, and everyone always comments on how cute it is, so I was quite nervous to get it cut. He also never had a haircut, so I wasn't sure how it would go. Taylor was great, and made him feel comfortable. Taylor talked to me about what the haircut would look like, I showed some pictures of what I was thinking, and Taylor mentioned about cutting with scissors first, and then using the clippers if we felt ready. The haircut went on, my son got more comfortable, and we decided to use the clippers around the edges. In the end, my son's haircut looks great, he's happy, and we had a really nice experience! Beautiful location and inside the barber shop is one of the most unique and relaxing places I have been too. There is beer on tap (other refreshments too) to enjoy while watching sports or other entertainment on the couch or chairs. The Barbers are very in tune to knowing the latest hair trends ranging from kids, young adults to mature adults. D'Vaun was my barber where I requested a Comb Over haircut with a number one on the sides. He gave great suggestions on which Comb Over style would look better (Didn't realize there were so many!) on me and I loved the result. Overall this was a great experience. Greatly appreciate having a shop like this in the local Danville area. Mary cut my hair and she did a great job...a five star cut. I deducted a star as the one thing missing is a neck shave to finish the service. A hot towel soaked with menthol/eucalyptus (Osage Rub), lather king cream, and disposable straight razor neck shave and A/S (eg Osage Rub again) splash to finish is pretty standard at most traditional barbershops and is missing here.
