What is not to love about this place. They do a great job with all hair types and all ages. I bring all of my kids here and they get to experience a true barber shop without the language concerns. Somehow saw online that they opened at 6:00 a.m. and we're walkin only. Came at 7:15 a.m. with my son only to realize they opened at 9:00 a.m. (apparently the Hayward location opens at 6:00 a.m.) But, no worries. We got donuts next door (IYKYK) and then xame back at 8:45 a.m. as we wanted to be one of the first in line on the waitlist...And they were already open and bumping! There was already several people on the wait list, but they were waiting for a specific barber. When we walked in, Roberto greeted us and asked if we are waiting for anyone specific. Since you weren't waiting for anyone specific, we were able to get in right away!. He got my son in the chair and even let me sit in a "Mom Chair" at a nearby station that wasn't occupied to watch. We showed Roberto an inspo pic for my son's haircut and he did a fantastic job! He made sure to check in as we went forward in the hair cutting process in order to not cut too much or too close, exactly as my son wanted! He was super friendly and did a fantastic job. Whoever is free for a cut when I walk in I take them. I don't even have a set barber, because I know whoever is standing behind that chair is going to cut my hair amazingly, and with care. They only accept cash and it's first come first serve. Old school. No, not in the cutesy-wootsie section of Downtown Danville, this is right off the freeway in the Smart & Final shopping center.  Once inside, you'll feel as if you stepped into a classic barber shop where haircuts and sports reign. Busy busy shop, 5-6 barbers led by Jason, spend 30-45 mins per customer, spitting out one happy one after the next -- and they appeared to be on first name basis as customers and barbers, so yes, they are regulars. (I know, I'm now one of them!). The procedure: sign in. Either name and wait for the barber of your choice, or simply leave blank and you'll be called in order. I have my preferences, but I've got my cut by all. Frankly, you can't go wrong with any of them. Super nice gents, cordial as heck. The result = Handsome as I get. 5.0 stars baby! A buddy of mine told me to come try this place for a haircut because they do good work. He referred me to a friend of his who works there named Rafael. So I contacted Rafael, a worker there, through social media regarding a good time to get cut by him and what days and hours he was at the shop and I got no reply from him. Hours after sending him a message he is posting stories on his page so he completely ignored my one single message that I sent him and he even unfollowed me. That is horrible customer service. As a potential new customer I would expect Rafael to reply as soon as he could so he could make a good impression on me which would've been a new customer. Look at this on burn on the back of my neck. I could feel it when the barber did it too. I gave an annoyed looking expression, he paused for a sec, and then proceeded hit the razor on my neck again the same way lmao. Also, there's a lot more issues I noticed with my haircut, such as plenty of small hair that got left behind. But it is what it is. Lesson learned. When you see a barbershop look uncultured, just turn around. It's not worth it. The owner is a liar and emotional, the establishment is a fraud and misleading with the way it's advertised on yelp (most of their demographic of customers and barbers are old, melanin-less men with bad haircuts, but they post young, cultured folks in the pics with some decent cuts), the barbers are wack, the cost is higher than Supercuts, with the results trashier than a dorm roommate's first time using the clips. I'm not sure why ppl rate this place so high. They must have never been to a real barbershop or they prolly got begged to give them reviews. And the rest is sheep, coz they don't have a mind of their own. If you know, you know. Don't come here if you know what I mean. The uncultured people will find this post disrespectful. But the real ones will appreciate the honesty so they don't waste their time n money here. The owner messages you when you write a bad review never seen that before. I found Danville Shave Parlor on Yelp and can only say that the 5 star reviews didn't do it nearly enough justice. I had grown out my hair/beard and was looking pretty unkempt after two months on leave from a year long deployment to Afghanistan. Returning stateside with CV-19 restrictions lifting left me with hair appointments anywhere else over a month or more of a wait. I tried my luck here at opening (9am) and was able to grab a seat right at Roberto's chair as the whole barber shop filled up immediately. Decorated in classic barber fashion with sports bobble heads lining the shelves fashand with multiple chairs all manned by highly skilled barbers. Roberto took more time than I have ever had before a haircut to study pictures of how I have had my hair cut before, how he planned to cut it, and how I normally styled my hair. Roberto buzzed the sides, trimmed some off the top, set a hard line, and shaped by beard all before finalizing it with a straight razor. The first haircut stateside after an overseas deployment has always been a special occasion and I wouldn't have picked a different place. Perfect barber shop with really cool guys. My only little gripe is that for years my haircut would always be finished off with a straight razor cleanup on the back. Last couple of times since the expansion it wasn't included by the newer guys. No huge deal but it was something that really added to the experience. Hope it makes a comeback. Mullet removal time for the kids! JK! This was our first time here. The boys needed haircuts desperately and I saw the great reviews Danville Barber Shop had on Yelp, so thought we'd give it a try. It's walk-in service only, which was fine by me because life is hectic and making appointments for kids cuts hasn't been a priority. We walked in and there are maybe 6 stations on the left, which were full, and a couple people ahead of us in line. We were greeted by a welcoming crew and told it'd be about 30 min. That didn't seem bad, but I was skeptical it would only be 30 given the crowd. Well, the guy was pretty good at predicting the wait because just under 30 min later the first kid was called in! The boys are teens now, and can communicate what they want pretty well, but I helped my younger one a bit, providing general direction. They both walked out happy and I think it's safe to say we'll be back! These guys definitely know what they're doing. Note: they only take cash. read more

After being a customer of Gil at Danville Barber for about two years, I had such an upsetting experience as a customer such that I will not go back and would encourage others to not patronize the business. In November, just before Thanksgiving, I went to Gil at Danville Barber Shop for a haircut and beard trim. Three times, Gil made derogatory statements about Jews. When I tried to deflect his offensive statements, a co-worker of his came over to us and held his cell phone up behind by shoulder. It was playing a video of a weightlifter "fail." I was confused, offended as a person and customer, and left. I will not return and now take my business to Shaky Razor in nearby San Ramon. I would encourage others to also not patronize Gil and Danville Barber Shop. read more

I've been going to Danville Barber Shop for 3 years now and I plan on still coming back until I leave California permanently. Never thought I would pay $36 for a cut, but I guess I'm a sucker for a fresh cut, good comradery, and a chill atmosphere. If you come back more than a couple times the guys know your name, and know what you're about, it's definitely a chill atmosphere. This place is hopping at most times, but especially on Fri and Sat, so keep in mind when coming down that there will be a wait, especially if you want a specific barber. I just got in at 845am on Saturday and there was a line already and I just got out at 955. The later it gets the longer the wait. But it's worth it in my opinion, as long as you know what you want and are communicative with your barber every step of the way, you'll have a great experience and you'll meet and talk to some cool people. read more

i've been coming here for a few years now after usually going to supercuts or other cheap/generic places. although it's more expensive to get a haircut at a barbershop, i think it's worth it. i feel like a regular when i come in -- they all acknowledge me like old friends and it's very comfortable and friendly. additionally, i think i've gotten cuts from each one of them and they've all been very consistent in the quality and giving me what i want. only downside is sometimes the wait times can be long but that's not anyone's fault. just shows you how popular they are and the customers lining up for them. read more
