i used the services available at american driving challenge in 2020 because i was wanting to get my license and she was affordable and available at the time during COVID. Amy at american driving challenge is nothing short of a nut job. she made me cry every lesson that i did with her and told me i would never pass the test (i passed with only two points off). additionally, she encouraged reckless driving and did not make me feel safe or confident behind the wheel. she took person calls during the lesson, one being to a social worker who she was arguing with to get food stamps. i implore anyone seeking drivers ed lessons to steer clear of american driving challenge. read more

I sent my daughter, a hopeful novice in the territory of driver education, into what I believed was a legitimate establishment. What she reported back to me suggests an educational experience far removed from what any parent would hope for. According to my daughter, Amy seemed to spend sessions not focusing entirely on teaching but rather engaging in behavior that left my daughter feeling uncomfortable and unprepared. While the clock ticked away on paid time, my daughter reports that Amy allegedly took personal calls. She reportedly discussed politics with the casual disregard of someone who's forgotten they're providing a professional service, and--in what strikes me as a spectacular lapse in judgment--apparently initiated discussions about sensitive racial terminology during what should have been focused driving lessons. "I don't want to sit through this today," my daughter reports Amy saying. "You don't already know that?" she would apparently ask, as if driver education was something my daughter should have absorbed through osmosis rather than proper instruction. Based on my daughter's account, this wasn't education--this was an expensive exercise that seemed designed to diminish rather than build confidence. The uncomfortable truth became clear: there might be a reason this place has availability while other schools are booked solid. It's worth noting that reviews from Abi B., Lex M., and Karina S.--some dating back a decade--describe experiences that sound remarkably similar to what my daughter reported to me. After multiple sessions, my daughter emerged not feeling prepared but rather discouraged, her confidence seemingly replaced with uncertainty about her driving abilities. IN MY OPINION, THERE ARE BETTER OPTIONS AVAILABLE. The previously mentioned reviews from years past suggest a pattern that appears to have continued to my family's detriment. I should have researched more thoroughly. You still can. My advice is to wait for a better option. Be patient. Choose someone else. After all, when it comes to something as important as teaching our children to drive safely, shouldn't we demand the highest standards of professionalism? ONE STAR. These schools are not teaching children how to drive all they did was take my child on the driving route and teach him how to drive for the test. They took him on the freeway once and never left a six blocks radius in downtown Paso. If you're gonna go with the school, I would make sure that you tell them that you want your child to be taught how to drive and not go on the drive test route you're paying so much money for a driving school read more

The lady who owns this , Amy is absolutely insane. The first day I went out to drive with her we were making nice conversation about music, somehow got on the topic of rap music and she says "I'm not a big fan of all the nigger nigger nigga", she then started apologizing over and over again , as i am black. i was uncomfortable but just brushed it off. throughout the whole drive she was on and off of her phone taking calls from a so called "gang member" who i then found out was the other grandma to her granddaughter. she then points the phone to me and asks me how to block someone as i am driving. the next lesson i had in no way was she nice to me. she speaks poorly of other students and uses names aswell. she talks about how badly their driving was and how dumb they are. along with this amy is super political and will make her stances known. she had wood planks , water bottles, canned food, and spray paint, for when the "world ends". she planned to board up her house. as our driving lessons went on she gradually became more and more mean and eventually yelling at me. it got so bad i had to pull the car over and ask her to stop as i was crying. she then said , and i quote "i don't wanna do this shit for another 2 hours". once i was home my mom called and got our money back. so my best advice is just because amy responds first and fast doesn't mean she is good. i have also heard from classmates it seems she only likes the boys that come to her. do with all this info what you will. ‍ i learned essentially nothing and to pass the behind the wheel test i had to practice with my grandpa as amy gave me no helpful info. thanks for nothing amy read more

We used this service for our daughter. the instructor was fine for the first two lessons, but the last one was a horrible experience for my daughter. The instructor yelled at her multiple times, put her down, told her she can take it, made her cry. The instructor started the lesson with cursing and told my daughter she was going to critique her. She spent a lot of time looking at her phone and seems inattentive the duration of the lesson. When asked questions, she replied that if my daughter didn't know the answer to that, she wouldn't pass her test. My daughter walked into the house in tears and very reluctant to drive again. read more

I have used American Challenge for both of my kids. Once in 2011, and again in 2013-14. Both times I was very pleased and would highly recommend them. The instructor is very flexible with time, working around everyone's schedule. She picked up my son from school twice, then after the lesson brought him home. How convenient!! Both of my kids felt very comfortable with the instructor. She made them feel relaxed and confident. Not like driving with a DMV instructor! She communicates well with parents; addressing any concerns the parent or child may have. Bottom line, I have and would recommend them. read more

In 2012-13, my high school daughter used American Challenge Driving School. We had a very good experience with the owner/instructor. We will use her again for our youngest daughter. She made the experience less threatening and gave out lots of good tips. She was punctual, professional and the fee was reasonable. I really appreciated that you got an extra day of driving in the package versus longer times with less days. I think that provides a better learning experience for the teens. read more

I have never used this service before BUT I can promise you I NEVER would for my children. The instructor and a student were on the freeway and I went to pass them and the instructor FLIPPED me off! The student was driving 55 in fast lane so I proceeded to pass safely in the slow lane and succeeded. Obviously the owner/instructor didn't like that. But she should be telling the student to switch lanes. Horrible ethic and attitude! read more

Very unprofessional! Instructor shouts at students and even takes personal phone calls and stops at her house while teaching (which is also included in the hours students pay for). Instructor argues at the phone as well. Talk about washing your dirty laundry in public. The sessions are cheap but are not worth the rude behavior teen drivers have to put up with. And she blames it on me she always said I never made an appointment.. , she said "she doesn't want to do business with me anymore" like it was my fault. I absolutely love American Challenge driving school and would recommend it to anyone. The instructor made me feel very comfortable and taught me a lot of new things on each lesson. My instructor created a calm, relaxed environment for me while I was learning all the steps of becoming a licensed driver. I would honestly recommend American Challenge to anyone! The instructor was very flexible and willing to work around my schedule and not to mention the cheap cost of lessons was a huge relief. My sister tried many times to find a good driving school and it wasn't until American Challenge that she felt comfortable and willing to put her effort into full affect which is why she suggested I go through this system as well.
