Through consistent training, our dog took to commands and now his crate is his safe space. His anxious behavior has been calmed through what Tal taught him and us: look to us (owner) when unsure and listen for commands and nonverbal cues. We as owners, learned how to use affirmative commands and be the leader/alpha for our dog. Our dog is a gem inside and out of the home: he can sit/lay down on command and for significant amounts of time, allowing him to come with us to restaurants, breweries, shopping, and on flights. The amount of compliments on his behavior and demeanor are endless. We could not be happier with the training from Tal!

We knew nothing about the breed, or about how we needed to not be just a family but a pack. We named her Daisy and at first things went along fine, then she began nipping and charging people, even us. It got so bad that I had to walk her with a muzzle on, I became afraid of my own pet, afraid of what she could do. Then by chance I met Susan, not a dog trainer, but a dog behaviorist. At first my boyfriend and I were skeptical that Susan could help us because we had attended several dog training classes that had been very expensive and had been kicked out of several dog parks for Daisy's biting behavior, our situation felt hopeless and grim. Susan was so kind and so patient, with me especially, she taught me that I have to change how I treat my dog entirely, Daisy could not be my equal, I was the Alpha dog and no more coddling would be permitted. Daisy went with Susan for two weeks, Doggy boot camp, and when she came home it was our Daisy, but she came when I called, she could be walked without tearing my arm off, Susan taught me that Daisy was picking up on my fear and was attempting to protect me. In the end my behavior directly affected Daisy's, Daisy didn't feel safe with me, Susan taught me to be commanding, dominant, and in turn Daisy's behavior completely changed. I am so very thankful for Susan, her great knowledge, and her great prices. Daisy and I are doing much better, but I do occasionally slip up and give her kisses.

We owe everything to Cinthia! Our dog, Snoop, had major fear aggression toward humans and it got to…read morethe point where he escaped and bit a neighbor. When we took Snoop to see Cinthia, she analyzed him right away and was able to explain to us what was going on and how to understand dog psychology and language. She also took the time to answer any questions that we had. We were extremely impressed with how professional and knowledgeable Cinthia was. After this assessment we knew we could trust Cinthia and entered him into the board and train program with her. Snoop is an absolute rock star after completing the program! He became a changed dog and was equipped with all the skills to cope with his anxiety. Cinthia also took the time to train us and walk us through each skill and why it was important for him to have. Snoop now walks perfectly with us, staying by our side the entire time, and is excellent with all of his commands. Our greatest joy is that we are now able to walk Snoop through public spaces without any worry that he will have an incident with people. He is such a happy boy now! Cinthia has also remained in touch with us beyond his program for any questions and concerns that we have. We know that Cinthia deeply cares about each dog she works with and it shows with the time and effort she puts to help each dog and teach their owners. Not only did she come to our aid bringing my dog back from lethargy, not eating or being active to the dog he was prior full of spunk, swagger and puppy like energy, she also communicated between us and shared important info I needed from him to better equip me to handle his final stages. Words cannot express the difference she made in his last month alive. She was able to share our feelings and give me peace in every step of one of the hardest times we face as pet owners. She was helpful in giving him the well being he needed so that we could share some bucket list goals and make the absolute most of his final days. Also, she shared various techniques that lessened his suffering and even stopped his seizures immediately which was remarkable. She was able to communicate our goodbyes and gratitudes which was so powerful and important to us and allowed me to grieve peacefully without doubts or regrets having known exactly how he felt and when the time was right. In addition to these gifts, I think the biggest gift was how she did not just work hands on with my dog but also coached ME to be able to understand how my behaviors and actions played a role and what personal changes I needed to make to better his situation. I cannot imagine having gone through that last month without her. Having the extra quality time, the knowledge and the communication made the hard life choice much easier and peaceful for both of us and I will forever be grateful for the miracles she gave us.

We mostly do private sessions, but the group classes are great too. I love that no session is ever the same. Some days we work on leash walking, others on reactivity, sometimes even agility. Shakinah has even brought her own well-trained dog to help with mine, which meant a lot. She also makes sure we, as owners, are learning too-it's not just about training the dog but the whole team. When I met Shakinah, she took the methodology that had been working with my dog and helped to create a personalized training plan that involved diet changes, refining the messaging for my dog, and puzzle games to help give my dog a "job" as she is a working breed mix. As a positive reinforcement trainer, Shakinah has proven that you can see incredible results without ever punishing or reprimanding your dog. After her first private lesson, my puppy was cleared to join Spicy Dogs Club- a group lesson where reactive dogs learn to tolerate each other and stay calm in difficult situations. The exercises are simple yet effective, and Shakinah is incredibly attentive to each dog in the class, even when it's not their turn to do the maneuver. For example- if a dog is being trained to walk past another stationary dog calmly, Shakinah will gauge the behavior of both the walking dog and the stationary dog simultaneously- giving corrections and tips to both parties. I have been working with Shakinah for 6 months in both private lessons and group lessons and the difference in my dog has been night and day. Before working with her- I would dread taking my dog on a walk and come home distraught at all the over the top reactions she would have when she saw other dogs. Jumping, lunging, and snarling were all part of a regular walk. Now- we can go for weeks at a time without an episode and my dog is getting more calm every day. Not only is Shakinah talented with dogs, but she is runs an organized and efficient business. She has a great scheduling system with an online calendar, is responsive via text, and an incredibly effective communicator. I recommend her to every dog owner I meet!!

Lewis and James showed me that she was being aggressive to new people she had not known before. After the first lesson I went on a walk and she was noticeably more calm and accepting of other people walking by. There have even been moments when it felt like she was communicating with me through gestures. The trainer is patient, kind, and truly knows what he's doing. He understands not only how to train dogs, but also how to connect with them. The results exceeded all expectations. P.S. I'm seriously considering sending her back for another round of training.
