I am so disappointed. I come here all the time, and each time purchase well over $100 worth of merchandise. I've never had a problem until recently. A few weeks ago I attempted to make a large purchase at this store. I had been making purchases all day as I just got my tax return and wanted to buy summer clothing. When I attempted to make my purchase my debit card got denied. Upon this happening I attempted to contact my bank, as I thought maybe they were denying it for safety reasons since I have made large purchases today and that is not typical for me. As I was on hold, I checked the bank app on my phone and realized I did not have enough money for the entire purchase. All of a sudden the "manager" STEPHANIE asks me for my ID. I gave it to her but asked why she needed it. She tells me they ask for ID for "any purchase over $100." hmm so if this is the case why did they not ask my ID when they attempted to run my card the first time or any other time I've ever made a purchase in there which is ALWAYS over $100. So then as I was taking items off my purchase (which can be embarrassing in itself) they tell me they are being asked to call MasterCard for a verification code for my card. I've worked in retail and yes this has happened to me before so I said ok. Then she tells me I can't use my card. That MasterCard is denying it. First of all, my card was BANK OF AMERICA debit card that, yes, has the MasterCard name but I had no problem running it through as debit NOT credit. She did not ask me to use another card, cash, anything. She just told me I couldn't make my purchase in the most condescending tone I've ever heard. I argued with her a bit about it and asked if she would talk to my bank to verify this card was mine and that there was no issue with it. She refused to do anything to solve the problem and I walked out in tears. I called costumer service who told me that should not have happened and offered me a 20% discount and gave me the number of the store to make a complaint to the store manager. I then called the store and of course "STEPHANIE" answers and I asked to speak to another manager. Knowing it was me, she refused to put me on the line with anyone else. I said well I would like to speak to another manager because I do not like the way you treated me or what happened. She finally gave me the store managers name and when to call and said "don't worry they already know what's going on, again in a condescending tone. As a long standing costumer who spends $100's of dollars in this store I am beyond disgusted and will NEVER shop in this store again. I was able to make my $500 purchase online and although I am still giving business to the company, I refuse to give it to this store. I hope something gets done about this terrible management and I plan to make a corporate complaint as well. For anyone shopping here, beware of STEPHANIE! read more
