Perusing this new shop on St. George Street was a delight for me but I wished I had my husband in tow so he could pick out what he likes. They have the most fascinating products including hand carved sling shots from California Beech, hunting knives, pipes, and beard and grooming products. They are also plenty of axes because Oak & Adze philosophy is, "Every man needs to own at least one ax." The all-natural beard and grooming products are also locally made here in St. Augustine! One thing I had my eye on was their colorful "Seed Bombs" to use with their Sling Shots. The Seed bombs are in the Slingshot ammo area and have a seed mix containing 10 different wildflowers inside them. Their website states, "To activate the Seed Bombs soak them in water until they become soft and squishy. Then take your slingshot and shoot them in any direction you would like. Once the seed is shot watch the seed bomb blow up on impact causing a cloud of color. Have fun shooting and gardening!" It's wonderful to have a store that's a celebration of masculinity and a haven for "Gentlemanly Men" but women can still have a great time there too!

The blazers and jackets immediately caught my eye, especially since that's exactly what I'm currently in the market for. I even found myself eyeing the bourbon in the back and thinking maybe I should finally treat myself to a new suit. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of being left alone versus being swarmed the moment I walk into a store. Great representatives know how to strike that balance perfectly. Unfortunately, that balance was completely missing here. Despite walking through the entire store, nearly every employee remained glued to their phones, with only one person even looking up to acknowledge my presence. It ultimately left me disappointed, not because I expect over-the-top attention, but because I genuinely appreciate a great suit shop and the experience that is supposed to come with it. A quality suit store has always been about more than just expensive jackets on a rack. The experience, professionalism, atmosphere, and attention to detail are just as much a part of what customers are paying for as the suit itself. Unfortunately, it feels like John and Craig has completely lost sight of that at this location. It actually gave me the impression that the goal of this organization truly is to provide a great customer experience and that, unfortunately, this particular visit simply was not their day to shine. Based on the way this was proactively handled, I have updated both my review and star rating to reflect that effort. I also plan to stop back in again when I get the chance, because first impressions matter, but so does the way a business responds when concerns are brought to their attention. It always seems like the staff is busy and productive instead of standing around like other establishments. The staff is also very friendly and personable. I think every time I have been to the register, they have engaged in conversation. J. Crew used to have a punch card that only ran a couple months each year. Each time you visited, they would mark off your visit and after 3 visits, you received 20% off your next purchase. That was really cool but I only completed it once! They also have a student discount if you show them your student ID. That always helps me! The store is very clean and tidy. The music playing is always pleasant. I have rarely seen items out of place because the staff is usually walking around checking everything.

Unfortunately, several online sources had conflicting hours of operation. So, I would suggest calling ahead of your visit. I called and spoke to Zach, he informed me they would be closing at 8p, I let him know I would make it with 10-15 minutes to spare. After a brief discussion, I knew what I wanted and they had them. Once inside, I quickly found what I was looking for. The store is organized well. I saw a pair of "Save the Planet" Vans on the clearance rack and they were running a sale so since I could not locate my size- I asked one of the associates on the floor. Luckily, Chase came to the rescue and found them for me! At this point, I would expect the staff to be irritated by the amount of people in the store at/after closing but they were very accommodating and pleasant to shop with. Even the cashier at the time, Amelia, she was a pleasure to speak with. The staff here is courteous and made my quick trip a breeze.
