We had a terrific experience with AEC, from estimate to completion. Work crew was very communicative and extra respectful of our home. Work was done on schedule and very carefully, cleanup inside and outside the house each day was thorough. And Mike was extremely helpful with his onsite estimate. AEC was the only estimator we talked to who told us about the ZAI Trust, which processes claims for residential asbestos insulation removal and re-insulating costs if material tests positive for their product. That's a big deal. Would recommend AEC services without hesitation. read more

We contracted with American Environmental to test for asbestos, remove some of the piping and a boiler that was being replaced. Their bid included three days to complete the project. We were assured that if the pipes were not wrapped with asbestos material that there would be a substantial reduction in the bid. However, we did not find out that they don't actually do asbestos testing until two days before the project was to start. Luckily, I was able to get the testing done the next day and sent them the results which showed we were negative for asbestos. Unfortunately, it turned out that our boiler still had some water in it and the workers had to pause while it drained. In spite of that, the project was still completed in less than three days, but American Environmental refused to provide the promised discount. In addition, there was piping to be removed which was marked with a magic marker by the supervisor. The markings were complicated to decipher but the supervisor in charge assured us he would be there to instruct the crew. He did not show up and has since denied that he said he would be there. The result was confusion among the workers as to which segments they needed to remove. We had to contact the contractor, who sent a boiler expert over to work with the crew. We have tried to resolve this issue with American Environmental, and obtain the promised cost reduction, but their responses were rude and intractable. I would not recommend them. read more

We had the unfortunate surprise of finding asbestos during some home renovations. Steve came out to our home the next day to talk through the process, sampling, and pricing. He also allayed my fears about exposing my family to the hazards of asbestos. Steve was able to get me on the calendar within a few days. His team did thorough work and cleaned up after themselves. Gave an excellent consult that didn't feel rushed nor about just making money (instead.. doing it right!). This summer I oversaw a 3-month decontamination and decommissioning project for a large industrial facility in Seattle. This project required extensive decontamination of multiple buildings within a short, inflexible timeframe. I contacted several asbestos abatement companies and this was the only one to do an in-home estimate. It was also the only company to communicate the 10 day waiting period until they obtained an L&I permit to abate or mention the need to get a permit. Dealing with asbestos you can't be too careful. The team arrived early on the scheduled day, secured the area and removed every last tile in about 1/2 a day. They did a great job at a competitive price. Make sure you check L&I for violations because some of the other companies I considered had major documented health violations related to asbestos removal. This company did not. read more

They gave me a quote and during the project discovered it was a much smaller area (almost half the space) to be abated so they gave me $300 off, LESS THAN 20% off. Short story: This team did a phenomenal job with the removal of our 100-year-old asbestos-containing gravity furnace! Excellent communication, quick-turn-around-time, most affordable quote (out of 6 quotes for the job), extremely timely work (less than 5 hours start to finish). Long story: Our furnace needed to go. It was a behemoth, contained asbestos, and was way too powerful for our tiny home (originally meant for charcoal, retrofitted for gas). We got a number of quotes from abatement companies and were always disappointed with how high they quoted. Finally, American Environmental Construction gave us the best quote (came in at half the price of our highest bidder) and even broke price down to removal of the whole furnace or removal of the asbestos only, which was great to even have that option. We agreed to move forward with their quote and the turn-around-time was only about 2 weeks, which was fantastic since we had been trying for a year to get rid of the furnace. The job was expected to take two days. One the first day of the job, we got a call that morning that they wouldn't be able to make it due to a car accident (no one was hurt). In the end they sent twice as many folks to complete the job on the second day and we were shocked at how fast they were in and out and how clean the basement was after the job was complete. They did break part of the wall on one of the vents when removing it but it's not any reason to docks points on their behalf. Great company for any size demo project! We needed to redo our ceiling, another company removed the insulation and did a horrible job. Mike was able to give a quick quote and once their team was onsite it was pure professional work. I was worried about the potential for a massive Sheetrock mess but once Angel's crew was onsite first and then Fransico's crew the house was spotless. They taped and sealed everything possible, I asked Fransico to build an enclosed tunnel and it was perfect, nothing in our garage had even a single spec of dust after removing 1,400sqft of ceiling and a bathroom shower. To top it all off I happened to mention an old tank in the crawl space, Fransico took one look, called Mike and the tanks were gone. My sister and I hired American Environmental Construction to remove a 1930 furnace (affectionately known as the "octopus") along with the asbestos wrapped duct system. Coordinating with the company who would be installing the new system was very important to me and my sister, as we didn't want to be left in the "cold" beyond what was absolutely necessary. Steve of American Environmental Construction took the lead in coordinating the removal of the old furnace with the company that would be installing the new system. The coordination between the two companies was "flawless". Since our house is brick and has plaster walls it was important that extreme care be taken when removing the old furnace and ductwork. A few hairline cracks did occur but this was expected given the age of the house and condition of the walls. This was not a result of the crew being careless as they took extreme care throughout the entire removal process. In the past, it should be noted that hairline cracks also occurred when we upgraded the plumbing and electrical. Junior, Daniel and Jose did a great job! These three arrived on-time, worked great as a crew, and completed the work in a timely manner. They were cheerful and professional and they even removed a very heavy stoker-type coal container that had been in the basement for 93 years and we were not charge anything extra for this removal.
