STAY AWAY!!!!!! I wish I could give a zero.. I have bought furniture from them for the last 6 years... EVERY piece I have received has been garbage within the first year. Loose threading, falling apart.. and of course they will LIE through their teeth so it's not covered. Haven't even had the small sectional we got for a year.. August 2023, but of course they denied the claim, so I have to dispute it now within a certain timeframe, or it won't be within the warranty period. Its a complete joke. We have loose threads all over the couch, the pillows, the cushions, in between by the zippers, on the very bottom of the couch where the seams meet.. but the technician said it was due to a pet... WHAT PET? We have a retriever, she can't un-pull threads that were never sewn in the first place, or get to the bottom of the couch, or in between the pillows on the zippers and whatever the liar said. Not a bad place to pick up some cheap furniture. Relatively decent selection of couches available. You can tell the staff isn't the brightest of people but at least they're not rude or pushy. Big plus is they have a layaway option. read more

Final chapter: I have been dealing with this company for over a month now. The manager Chris Sheridan, and the regional manager Justin are poor examples of the customer service industry. They said they "fixed" everything for me, and that I would receive an updated contract from the finance company via email. NEVER received any updated contract, and Justin has been playing email and phone tag with me. Luckily I have the means to pay this loan off before the crazy interest kicks in, but not everyone is able to do that. The tireless pursuit for a sectional sofa... This is a seriously no frills, low budget warehouse store. Warehouse, as in no flooring or ceiling. If you're okay with some compromises for a good deal, then you might be just fine! I'd avoid sofas; they looked cheap and dilapidated already. Some items were actually broken, but appropriately priced (i.e. hardware broken off of dressers). While I learned quickly that I would never purchase a sectional at American Freight, there were a couple of redeeming qualities. I'd recommend consideration of coffee tables and other hard surface items. This should be a stop for people on a tight budget for sure. Staff were not pushy in the least, yet attentive enough should I have had a question. They were also playing in the parking lot, so be careful when pulling in. read more

They advertised all this things for Black Friday and the sales boy said they only get 3 items per store, if you want one, it would take 4 to 14 weeks to get one and it would be in a random color, not caring if you like it or not, you always have a choice of getting the most expensive ones overpriced that are available. read more

This place is absolute garbage and doesn't stand by their products. We bought a swivel chair from them and after a few days, the base part broke rendering it just a chair with no swivel. We were within the return period. They said they'd come out and replace it. None of this happened. And now we're over the return period. We called 9 weeks straight to try and get this done. Julius who always picked up the phone kept telling us he was the assistant manager and that they were working on it. He would not return any promised call backs. Then we got fed up one day and he told us to call the regional manager Alonso at 740-833-6334. I left a message. We got nothing from these people. Our chair is still broken. I spent $500+ dollars on a piece from American Freight on March 31st. They were to order this table and I had an estimated delivery date of April 30th. After April 30th passed, I called multiple times over a three week period. Each time I called, I was promised someone would look into the order and call me back. Finally got in touch with a manager on May 22nd who informed me that they were never able to order the piece in the first place. This is a horrific example of customer service. Don't do it! It's a total gamble. It started with no one helping us at all, but lucky I had an idea what I was looking for. They guy at the desk was helpful when I went to purchase what I wanted. Then it got bad. The delivery people came and they seemed more in a rush then careful and then they broke my door light. The couch it hit 3 different times. I was speechless. Than they tried to tell me it was worth 15 dollars, but they destroyed the mount so I needed an entire new one. They run 49.99. After I started to unwrap the couches I noticed something weird. We got a love seat and a sofa. The sofa's left side was destroyed. I ran out to get them and they said they would do it tomorrow. They could have just run back and got me another. It's only a 12 mins. drive. They left the trash couch in my house because they said they were full. They must have forgot I was outside and saw the one couch they had in there, plus my old one. Not to bitch and I was a bit understanding how stuff happens but it was starting to be a lot of stuff happening. So the next day came. Every time I called it seemed like no one knew what was going on. They said I would see it later, and later, and later. They said they called a bunch of times. Which is funny that no one ever has EVER has issues calling me. I played a long and called and had others call me. WORKED FINE! They said he would still be here today and not to worry and he would call me in mins. Anyone guess what happened. Nothing. I wasted and waited around for an entire day and got broken crap left at my house. The next day I only got lies and still no place to sit for me and my kids. I called and informed them to come get their crap. It's going to be on the curb in the AM and my card will be canceling the payment. I knew this was less then awesome quality, but I'm getting a house in a year or two but couldn't wait because my old couch fell apart in weeks after years of service. I will never buy anything here again. I went in the store looking to get furniture for my place. They say pick here today and it will be deliver same day. I pick the furniture I wanted and they say they will deliver today. I am at home with no furniture sitting on the floor waiting and waiting and waiting, they never showed up, they didn't even have the decency to call me and let me know they weren't coming. I got nothing. The next day I called they say they don't know why my things were not deliver but they would deliver the next day, they say they would give me a discount. When they did finally deliver I was not give a discount I was charge more. Then they didn't have my lamps I called them they said they would give me an extra one and deliver the next day, they never did, and they never gave me a xtra one and they never gave me a discount. I had to drive over there and get my lamps. They say a lot of things but never deliver on their promises. Is bad buisness to say something and never deliver. Make sure when people buy and your stuff is deliver that you go tru everything and make sure you got everything before u sign anything saying you got all the stuff becouse if you do sign before you check to make sure u got everything and you don't have everything your screw. My experience with American Freight was absolutely terrible. When we ordered the furniture for delivery the person working told us it would be a $75 delivery, which is fine. What he failed to do was mention that instead of charging us for the delivery when we ordered our furniture, you actually have to pay the driver when they bring it to you. The employee completely forgot to mention this to us, and also didn't mention that there is a "stair charge" in which they charge $10 per stair they have to walk up. When we called to talk to employee about this, he was very very rude. The employees name was Alonzo, and he was very condescending and not helpful at all. They delivered the furniture a full day late, which is unbelievably ridiculous. This business is terrible. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I purchased a couch on a Thursday. It was coming in on a truck Monday. The couch is wonderful, and was reasonably priced. Denver helped us and and did a great job wasn't pushy as we wanted to go home and remeasure the space. One thing I didn't like is when I went back in to order it, Brittany helped me and even after telling her I didn't want a protection plan she kept pushing it. After I told her Denver helped me she still claimed half the sale, even though she did nothing to help me other then ring me out. You do have to pay in full before getting your furniture, I wish you could put a deposit down instead. read more

This place is a joke. After spending $4k at this place, the bed and couch fell apart. Bot even 4 months of owning the bed it started breaking. Called on the warranty and they didnt help at all. So I had to make the repairs to it myself and make it way more stable than when purchased. Than not even a year later the couch we bought from them broke. "Extended Warranty" is a total SCAM!!!!!! We purchased our furniture about 2-3 years ago. We bought a leather sectional couch ($1,900), Two end tables and a coffee table ($300) and a dining room table ($600). We paid to have their "extended service warranty" on all of it. That was an extra $400-$500 on top of what we paid for the furniture. Within 6 months our $1,900 couch had faded in the seats that were used the most. The fabric started lifting and was no longer smooth like it was supposed to look. You can see a complete different color in the seat area compared to the rest of the couch. After about a year our dog decided to chew on the coffee table. We were told that the warranty covers anything and everything so I called. I was told that it wasn't a single incident and couldn't be covered. So basically we spent $500 dollars on nothing. They do everything they can to have a reason to not cover your furniture. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE WARRANTY!!!! I wrote one other review and was contacted by someone from the company. I was told that I would be receiving a phone call. I did receive a message on our answering machine from that person but after 4 attempts to contact them back I have given up!! I will never shop here again and I will make sure that everyone I know that is looking for furniture what waste of money it was!!! Please don't make the mistake we did! I came here to get furniture for my living room. Upon selecting my furniture, I went with the layaway plan where I had no problem. Where I ran into the problem was upon delivery. First of all my father and I were both told that the delivery fee was $65 flat, however once the delivery drivers arrived, they were saying the delivery fee was going to be $65 plus an additional $10 per flight of stairs. I was able negotiate the fee to stay at $65 dollars because the delivery drivers were unable to get the furniture into my apartment and they didn't go up a full flight of stairs. However, I was also told that the delivery drivers were going to call 30-40mins prior to arrival, I received no such call and luckily I was in my apartment when they showed up. After returning my furniture and picking out another piece that would fit into my apartment, I scheduled my furniture to me delivered in the afternoon. Around 4:00pm I called the Madison location because I heard no word from the store or delivery drivers on their estimated time of arrival. I spoke to Julius on the phone and he stated that the drivers were coming from Milwaukee and that they were going to call when they were 30-40mins away. 2 hours had passed and I still received no furniture. Milwaukee and Madison are no more than an 1hr and 15 minutes apart, so that was where my frustration stemmed from. Additionally, the furniture was slated for an afternoon delivery, when they drivers were able to see that they were unable to make the scheduled delivery time a courtesy call should have been given to let me the customer know that a change was going to be made. 6pm is evening/night, not afternoon. I am honestly extremely disappointed in how this was handled because I have shopped at this specific location for a mattress before and the service was outstanding and was expecting the same satisfactory customer service. Unfortunately that is not what I received and after this purchase I am not going to recommend anyone shop at this location, especially if they need delivery services. read more

Customer service is terrible! I bought a couch/loveseat set and after one year the couch cushion totally sank, exposing the springs and wood frame. I called them, they said I had a 5 year warranty and just send pictures. I sent pictures, never heard anything. Sent repeated emails asking my for an update. Called them and was told it was being processed and it should only take 14 days. Still no contact from them. Called them again, was told the person I talked to didn't even work there (?), but this new manager looked up my info and said my claim was denied! So I have a one year old couch, with a 10 year fabric stain warranty, a useless five year warranty that is now going in the garbage! Yes, prices are good but you really get what you pay for!! While the prices are good, everything else is terrible. Customer service is pitable, the location inside is sketchy. But the worst was the delivery. We made it clear that we wanted an old couch hauled away and said it would need to be dumped and not donated. They quoted is the haul away fee. But then when they got to our house they wouldn't take it. They seemed surprised that it couldn't be donated and said they wouldn't be making any money by taking it. We offered more money but they wouldn't. American Freight needs to have their own delivery people or communicate better with the third party service they use. If you are looking for the thrill and excitement that comes along with not knowing if you will ever receive what you purchased, this is the company for you! I purchased a couch from American Freight on 3/1/2015. It was not in stock at the time of the purchase however I was given an estimated warehouse arrival date of 3/10/2015. On 3/30/2015 (1 week before I was to move and NEEDED the couch) I called the company because I had not heard from them to set up a time for delivery. I spoke with the store manager and asked when they would be able to deliver my couch. He stated that they had not received the couch, did not know when, if ever, they would receive it. I asked why I was not informed of this problem sooner. He simply said "well we will give you a $100.00 credit to look around our store". When I said I was no longer confident in their store and wanted my money refunded he said I would have to physically come into the store. American Freight has one location in all of Madison and it is a good 30 minute drive from me. I then attempted to call the company's Customer Service line. I was given the number for the regional manager. I contacted him and left a message. When I did hear back from him but the end of the day I called the customer service line back and left a message for the woman in charge of company complaints. I left her ALL the details she requested. The regional manager finally called me back over 24 hours later. I told him about the situation and he said he would make a few phone calls and call me back in about 30 minutes. That was 3 days ago. He has not called me back. Thankfully I made the trip to the stores location to swipe my card. I can't speak to actually getting my money back at this time because it has not posted to my credit card yet. This company sold me a product they did not have, did not inform me that the product was no longer available until I called them, and has refused to return my phone calls as to what happened. At this time yes, I assume / hope my money will be refunded on to my credit card soon, this company has done the absolute bare minimum! They have failed completely at customer service and have taken NO responsibility for the issue. I would like to say that Slumberland was beyond helpful! They were able to quickly find me a great couch, and I will save over $100 on it compare to American Freight! On top of that I am confident I will get my couch on Saturday! read more
