    Carousel

The new American Gardens is small but beautiful. It is easy to miss as you walk down a busy Meeting St or King St and it paying attention. But turn off on either end and you'll see a broad lawn with tall fountains on each end with patio style seating. Located in the middle of the park is a carousel! When I heard that they were opening a carousel soon I couldn't wait to get down there. At the time of this post it was not yet open and operating, but it will be soon. I think it's a great addition to Charleston and the charm it offers. This would be a great spot to have a picnic with the family or friends, maybe grab a coffee and book and perch at one of the patio tables, or grab the kiddos to take a spin on one of the wooden horses. While the park itself is free I do not know if the carousel will be charged or not. UPDATE: I was informed the carousel is only here for the month of December. It is free so enjoy it while you can!

Beautiful new park in downtown Charleston between King and Meeting street. It was beautifully lit with bright clear Christmas lights. There was a carousel for kids to ride, large Christmas tree, and a few wooden stands selling food. The layout is a nice rectangular block, and balanced with 2 beautiful water fountains. It had a European Christmas market feel at night. I noticed magnolia trees on one side along the main path with a few benches. It's a nice addition to Charleston. Check it out.

Nicely decorated, cute relaxing area. We went on Sunday evening, but it was soooooo busy with people. Very packed. The hot cocoa and everything was a nice touch and option to get. Would like to see more options available though. Live performer we saw was a violinist i believe. The carousel was of course the high light for the little ones. The gardens is a nice addition for the area.

Absolutely magical and breathtaking garden to walk through on a cold winter night. Lights were everywhere. Such a great spot for a photo. Little shops with snacks, drinks, and decor to purchase. Live entertainment by one entrance. Can easily spend an hour or so just roaming and exploring this trendy spot.

This cute new park with lots of tree, fun carrousel, and nice to for walking around during day time or just to sit and relax in downtown Charleston on King St. There is drink vendor that open in the afternoon evening and I came in the morning so I don't see the shop open yet.

It is a favorite among Charleston locals and tourists alike. This park is ideal for a sunset picnic or a relaxing stroll, and it only adds to the romantic charm of Charleston. It won the 2007 Landmark Award from the American Society of Landscape Architects, confirming its status as a Charleston treasure. You can stroll through the gardens, walk the esplanade, or spend some time at one of the many fountains. Spanning over 8 acres and located less than a mile north of The Battery, Waterfront Park has become a beloved Charleston fixture. It is home to one of the city's most photographed sites: the pineapple fountain. In Charleston's scorching summer months (and we faced that too), visitors (especially children) can be found cooling off in the shallow water of the fountain. Wide walking paths, dozens of benches, well-manicured green spaces, picturesque Palmetto trees, and a famous Pineapple Fountain adorn the park.
