While taking a much needed relaxing weekend in New Smyrna Beach, we decided to book a ghost tour in Deland which is only about 30 minutes away. What caught our eye was that it is a pub and bar ghost tour. And they provide you with a ghost meter too. Even though we didn't see any ghost or any "activity" our guide was very knowledgeable of the area and many of the area has been investigated and confirmed that there is paranormal activity in some of the pubs and bars we visited! We took a 2 hour walking tour from American Ghost Adventures on a Friday night. There were 13 of us from my department at work. We met at the Harry Buffalo for checkin and got some drinks before leaving. We were given k-2 detectors which were a fun touch. The guides appeared knowledgeable and told some really cool stories about the places where we stopped. I also got to use the dousing rods which was fun! The reasons why I'm docking 2 stars from this review have nothing to do with interacting or not interacting with spirits. My first reason was that for a walking tour, we really only stayed around one block in downtown Orlando. I would've enjoyed venturing a little further outside of that block. The second reason is a little bit of a bigger deal to me. We had 13 people in our group who live and work here, and the tour guide brought up the pulse shooting. I feel that this lacked tact. If he had read the room kept in mind that we were mostly locals (there were 4 not from our group), then I hope that he wouldn't have brought it up. Living here, there was no way for him to ensure that none of us were personally affected (and 3 of us that I know of were affected). I thought it was really inconsiderate to bring this up in front of a bunch of locals, and it really put a damper on the rest of the night. read more

The company offers tours daily and offers a few different options for tours. Our tour on Sunday night consisted of four people in total. It was great to learn about the history of Orlando and see the original buildings from the 1800s. We were given us electrical machines to detect energy and the tour guide explained our phones, lights, exit signs etc might set them off. Although we had no activity on our flashlights...the tour was great and personally I'd prefer not to communicate with "ghosts". read more

This Ghost tour was amazing!! We had so much fun and it was so interesting. I also loved the knowledge of the history of the area that our tour guide shared with us, as well as her knowledge of the spirits and spirit world. Ting was our tour guide. Amazing tour of Greenwood Cemetery! Our over 2 hour walking tour, costing $40 per person, was definitely worth it. We not only received an informative history pertaining to Orlando's founders and former residents, we were also able to "connect" with them. For those wishing to participate, the guides provide tools of the ghost hunting trade to allow for an interactive experience. Make sure you heed the advice from the pre-tour email. Closed-toe shoes are a must as well as bug spray. Things we wish we would have brought was a "traditional" flashlight versus an LED one and downloaded the suggested cellphone app. read more

My wife scheduled a ghost tour in downtown Orlando for my birthday. It started on Church Street and wove through several blocks, ending with a session in a haunted pub. We had a great time hearing about ghosts that have been experienced in several downtown buildings, and the Orlando history behind them. Stephanie was a wonderful guide. She told us about her own experiences and her belief in the paranormal is sincere. There was nothing hokey, outrageous, or touristy in her presentation. I can't say we left as believers, but Stephanie's openness gave a warmth to the tour that made it special. Did we have any of our own experiences? The meters went off at unexpected times, with no obvious reason. The (turned off) speakers crackled, seemingly in response to questions. Nothing earth-shattering, but not obviously explained, and that tickle of the unknown is what still makes me smile. read more

My daughter was researching haunted destinations for a school project, and when she asked if we could do this tour, I said "Why the heck not?! Let's go!" Although our fellow tour guests left a lot to be desired (one woman acted like she was some sort of medium and knew everything- constantly interjecting and interrupting the flow of things), my daughters and I had an awesome time. They were super attentive and very intrigued. We hope to go back again, but probably on a weekday when there are fewer random people signing up. Went on a long overdue date night with my wife. We are believers but were not sure what to expect. We left pleasently suprised and yes a little spooked. The first stop along with some great history, came some chills. Karleena, our ghost host, was awesome. She set up small mag lite flashlites on the ends of the room and gave us EMF readers. While no ones readers went off, the flashlight went on once she began talking about the history of the place. We then asked it yes or no questions and it answered by turning the light on or off. My wife and I were able to get out for a date night away from the kids and we went on this ghost tour. I've been on quite a few ghost tours including St. Augustine, Tampa, Nashville and a ghost tour of Rollins' Annie Russell Theater (tour also by American Ghost Adventures) and this one might've been the best one I've been on! Our guide Dave was very cool and informative. He did a great job leading us thru downtown Orlando's spooky past. We even were able to stop at a cool Irish pub I had never been to. Fun stuff! The best part of the tour was going upstairs at Harry Buffalo. That place is haunted! I'm a skeptic and had seen the whole flashlight thing before but never up close so I wasn't really a believer. They set up one of the flashlights on a table just about 3 feet away from me and my wife and I saw it light up on it's own in response to our other guide's questions. FREAKY! Definitely worth it. What a wonderful experience last night! Dave was the best! I have been to so many ghost tours all around the United States and never thought to to try one in my hometown of Orlando. There is so much history to learn about in the beautiful city of Orlando, its not just about Mickey and more importantly so much paranormal activity going. The stories were great but the actual paranormal investigation was amazing. We were communicating with a spirit by asking it questions and it turning off or on the flashlight. Two nights ago I had a fantastic experience on the Dowtown Orlando Ghost Tour. Everything started on Church Street, which is really where everything in Orlando began, at the train station. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the people who built this city and explained in great detail how everything came to be what we know as the City Beautiful today. From there we wandered the streets of downtown with our guide pointing out specific historic buildings - which is just about every corner as Downtown Orlando is teaming with history. Each building had a cool story and a funny and sometimes eerie ghost story attached to it. After a good round through some key points and streets we returned to Church Street Station where we were able to tour the inside of an old hotel. It was dark and definitely gave you the sense that you were not alone. Could be the tour group, could be something else, who knows? But the guide was great at keeping us together, calm and comfortable. We experienced some great investigations from both a scientific and paranormal point of view. The tour left everyone open to their own opinions on the subject of "ghosts" but definitely sent all of us home with abundant knowledge on Orlando! read more

We went to the ghost adventure at the Monumental Hotel past SeaWorld. Our guide, Ting, was very friendly and knowledgeable about ghosts, the hotel, and spirit world.
