I am a single parent and I enrolled my son here just months after he had turned 7 (the school had just opened). He was enrolled at the other tkd school in Quincy but.... after my 3 month trial there I soon realized that place just didn't fit right with us. Sadly, the TKD Master/instructor that we signed up with had left that school some time after. We never saw him again. Dec 2012, my son and I, noticed the yellow awning that had a new tkd school that just opened. We walked in and was greeted by an instructor names Liem. He was a sweet man and gave us the package information and told us that we would be contacted soon to followup a meeting with the school manager. Her name was Leslie and she clearly went over costs and offered different packages and we finally figured out a number we were both happy. I signed him up for the black belt program and as of today my son is two ranks away after 2 years! Oh and I want to mention that in my meeting with Leslie, I learned that the Master that opened BEST TAEKWONDO is the one that left my son's previous school. So.... after learning that.... I was already sold. Master Seo also has a tkd school in korea so he often travels back and forth. It's always pleasure to learn when he is back. Along with Liem and Leslie, there are several other instructors, and they are all great. But i do want to mention specifically Kathy and Kent! These two have been very important to me in my son's tae Kwon do history and I must pay them the highest appreciation possible. Everyone makes this place stand out because not only is it a teaching institution but it also feels like a home.

This review deals strictly with the facility and what it offers. There are a wealth of classes here, taught in a studio that boasts hardwood floors, a padded boxing ring, heavy bags and a weights area. I've seen folks train in Hung Gar, work with swords, and work in MMA. It doesn't feel like a big place, but there are often multiple classes going on at once and everyone has their own space. Also important to note is that there are two bathrooms with showers (both kept very clean) as well as private changing areas. These, combined with the friendliness of the instructors and visiting teachers there, combine to make a very relaxing and familial atmosphere.

I can come here any night after work, get dressed, get my workout done and be out of here and home at a reasonable time. I used to belong to Superfitness in Quincy because it's closest to my house, but try to go in there after work and jump right on a machine--not possible. They do not have many machines (basically one or two each of all the major ones--elliptical, treadmill, and bikes), but it doesn't matter because you never have to fight someone else for the one you want to use. There are TVs all over the place, which I've never seen anyone use. I'm sure they would let you use them, but I've never asked. The gym also offers free Wi-Fi to members, and there are two bathrooms with showers. I also like that my kids are able to come with me and just hang out and eat dinner and do their homework while I work out.

I had been part of a lot of…read morestudios prior and I wasn't happy with them because of a few factors (distance, cost, lack of something necessary [cardio, better timings of classes]), etc. Before coming here I did my research, looked up prices, reviews etc. I then met with Katie Kickbutt aka Katie M at this newly opened location before taking my first class. I got the new student class pack and was taking classes before I knew it. Classes are great and so wonderful. They are challenging and the instructors motivate and encourage you to do your best and come to class as much as possible. They modify exercises in all classes if you have an injury. My favorite classes so far are Pound, Barre, and SparBarre. Next on my list to try? Pound/Barre combo and Strong by Zumba. I love it here, and truly feel like I belong at this studio. Sounds cheesy, but I do. I love the workouts, the instructors, and best of all, the atmosphere.

I've never really exercised before Katie's, never thought I would pick up a dumbbell, never thought I would run a 5K or a 5 miler, never thought arm muscles were cool, and from going to Katie's, the ladies and her staff have encouraged and supported me to change my lifestyle! My personal favorite are her bootcamps and cardio kick classes. Katie Fitz works you out at bootcamp-it's never a dull moment between her circuits. She is definitely a challenge! And Katie Kickbutt's cardio kick classes are super fun-it's a mix of weights and cardio choreographed to cool music.

It has been absolutely wonderful for our children, who have grown immensely in confidence, discipline, and focus since joining. The instructors are incredibly dedicated, patient, and skilled at working with kids of all ages and levels. Watching our children develop not only their physical skills but also important life values has been truly rewarding. As an adult, I also decided to join the classes -- and it's one of the best decisions I've made. Practicing Taekwondo has significantly improved my concentration and overall physical condition. She is a great instructor, always tweaking the formats to improve our workouts and eliciting feedback from members to ensure we are getting the most out of each class. She knows everyone by name and it truly feels like a community. I have taken both the boxing HIIT class and strength and conditioning class. Boxing HIIT encompasses circuits including boxing combos on the bag, alternating with HIIT (eg burpees, jump squats, jumping jacks, etc), with rounds of dumbbell work and abs mixed in. It is truly a full body workout. I took my boyfriend to a class and he was absolutely drenched in sweat by the end. Strength and conditioning is more of a traditional circuit format with alternating exercises focused on strengthening your arms, legs, back, and core. They also have boxing technique classes, youth boxing, and kickboxing classes throughout the week, and now sparring on Sunday. They just introduced women's only kickboxing class on Saturday morning which I am super excited to try out! Overall such a great addition to the JP community and one of my fav local businesses.
