She said everything was fine but he was actively dying and had maybe a few hours to live. She said she didnt see his Funeral arrangements (nobody asked when we admitted) and space was limited in the mourge (she stressed space in the mourge several times) and tried to pitch funeral homes to me. All while talking over me trying to tell her we prearranged and prepaid for a funeral 10 years earlier. After she stopped trying to aggressively sell me a funeral and heard what I was saying she got even more demanding and arguementive. Then demanded the funeral homes contact. I said I would call them in an hour or so when they opened (out of state one time zone back) just to double check who needs called (shipping company because of the nature of moving a body) to double check for sure. I had to make that statement in rapid order at least six times to shut her up. Then I confirmed the information and called it into the office (equally bad experience, tried avoiding taking the information) . Then after my dad passed and fishing for reviews I was contacted and gave a piece of my mind. A few days later a Supervisor called and apologized. Asked if I would be happy if they sent the nurse to sensitivity training. I chuckled and said she has no business being an RN in an inner city ER nurse let alone a hospice nurse. She was the most argumentative medical professional I ever seen, I would even call her aggressive

I visited a number of memory care facilities. I am so happy that I chose American House. The switch over to American House is like the change between night and day. Rory the Community Relations Director answered all my questions when I first visited American House and then helped facilitate her move. Tisha the Director of Wellness made sure that my mom's medical needs were in place upon her arrival. Her co-worker Jeff in the memory care unit promptly answers my questions about mom's medications and care. The facility is clean and the staff that works with her on a daily basis are extremely caring. My mom enjoys the meals that are served and her appetite has increased since she entered American House. Bethany the Activities Director for memory care provides stimulating daily activities and also arranges for outside entertainment to be brought into the facility for the patient's enjoyment. Shelby the Executive Director expertly coordinates the staff to ensure an organized and smoothly-run facility. Mom is receiving excellent care from all the staff. If you are considering a move for your loved one I highly recommend American House.

In my opinion, this reflects severe neglect of a vulnerable elderly person at one of the most critical stages of life. No family should ever have to discover their loved one in these conditions. On Wednesday at approximately 8-9PM I found my mother in bed sitting in urine. She had been sleeping all day without anyone doing a wellness check. We took her home on Wednesday evening. Since then, not one staff member (clinical or administrative) has attempted to do a wellness check! This kind of treatment does not surprise, It has been a constant battle to make proper improvements like A/C not working, walls full of mold, Infestation of roaches, food is not palatable! . Under any circumstances, do not trust this facility with your loved one!
