My father took a turn and we admitted him to Hospice care with a contract bed at Gulf Coast Hospital in Ft. Myers. The hospice Nurse called me on the second morning of Hospice care. She said everything was fine but he was actively dying and had maybe a few hours to live. She said she didnt see his Funeral arrangements (nobody asked when we admitted) and space was limited in the mourge (she stressed space in the mourge several times) and tried to pitch funeral homes to me. All while talking over me trying to tell her we prearranged and prepaid for a funeral 10 years earlier. After she stopped trying to aggressively sell me a funeral and heard what I was saying she got even more demanding and arguementive. Then demanded the funeral homes contact. I said I would call them in an hour or so when they opened (out of state one time zone back) just to double check who needs called (shipping company because of the nature of moving a body) to double check for sure. I had to make that statement in rapid order at least six times to shut her up. Then I confirmed the information and called it into the office (equally bad experience, tried avoiding taking the information) . Then after my dad passed and fishing for reviews I was contacted and gave a piece of my mind. A few days later a Supervisor called and apologized. Asked if I would be happy if they sent the nurse to sensitivity training. I chuckled and said she has no business being an RN in an inner city ER nurse let alone a hospice nurse. I would not use Hope hospice to care for anyone. They had my dad in their "care" or lack there of in December 2025. They did not assign a particular nurse to my dad. No education was given about symptoms of imminent death. I had to call the main line every time I needed to speak with someone and never knew who I would talk to . I called about a suspected UTI for my father who had recurring UTIs which I felt they ignored by telling me to monitor for additional symptoms. I called Hope 3 times when concerned about my father's on and off fever and sudden rapid breathing. One of my calls took over an hour before a return call and then it was going to over 1 1/2 hours before a nurse would be out. Hardly any questions were asked about his condition and no advice was given about additional comfort medications or increasing oxygen levels so I took him to the hospital instead of continuing to wait for assistance. He passed that day with out any real assistance or "care" from Hope. read more

If I could choose NO star, I would. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I've taken care of my husband for over two years. all I needed was a break. I was promised all kinds of miracles when I signed up, and then all hell came upon me as I proved the lies they told me. They DONT COVER ALL MEDS, you have to give up your primary care doctor. I wasn't able to go to funerals for my immediate family, but they said I'd hAve 5 days of in Hope house care for my husband while I went to see family. YOUR FIRST DAY IS USED FOR THEM TO TRANSPOT HIM FROM HOME TO HOPE HOUSE. Now I have 4 days. I am so stressed after 2 years of care giving 24/ 7, and they spring this! Well, screw them, they are just money makers, using Medicare. everything was a blatant lie. STAY AWAY FROM THEM. read more

My mother was under the care of Hope Hospice (Chapters Health Affiliate) of Fort Myers on January 6th, 2026. Hope Hospice was notified early in the morning that my mother was in pain and could not take oral pain meds and needed liquid morphine. Throughout the entire day, despite making no less than 10 phone calls, we received nothing but inconsistent responses, promises of nurses that never showed up and a frustrating run around from occasionally-rude staff. When a nurse finally arrived at 2:30 she reported that she would have to order the liquid morphine and somehow the paperwork took her so long the order didn't go in until 4 pm and it wouldn't be delivered until after 6 pm, despite it have being requested early in the morning. The morphine (from the Hospice pharmacy) was not delivered until 7:15. My mother was in so much pain that the first dose did not ease her pain at all. She passed away a few hours later. My mother writhed in pain for 12 hours on her final day and my final vision of her is of her face a mask of agony and her eyes begging me to do something to help her. I received no apology or explanatory follow-up call from Hope Hospice subsequently, other than the social worker calling to offer their standard bereavement services. The communication there is atrocious and the switchboard is incompetent. Losing someone you love is hard enough, but a peaceful end is the last caring act we can give a loved one, and I failed, due to putting my faith and trust in Hope Hospice. It is a guilt and sorrow I will carry the rest of my life. The really sad thing is I specifically requested Hope Hospice as they were amazing when my father passed away 20 years ago. Clearly they are not the same organization. I don't typically post reviews, and certainly not about something so personal. But there is nothing I can do to help my mother now and I will do this to hopefully spare some family the grief that I have experienced. read more

Not very compassionate too much like a business all about the Benjamins $$$$$$$ They were extremely pushy and didn't have the compassion that I felt they could have. This is a very emotional and traumatic time and never once did they offer me sympathy, condolences or showed that they cared about anything other than money read more

I believed Hospice care for my dad would be the best thing to do since he was 95 and in and out of the hospital for rapid diuresis due to CHF, and after talking with the representative in the hospital decided that is what should be done. My father's nurse came once a week, but many times we had a different nurse as dad's was off that week. My dad complained of extreme heel pain on the leg that had a huge ulcer wound, and nothing was done except continue wound care with ointment. A nurse, not my dads regular nurse, came out after I called and said my dad was in pain, and she took one look at my dads leg, and his foot that was so swollen and red, and said he had cellulitis and started him on antibiotics and gave him something more for pain. Our one steady positive was our health aide who came three times a week and bathed, shaved and talked with my dad, she was the absolute BEST!!! My dad looked forward to her visits. The nurse that was assigned sometimes brushed off my dad's complaints about pain in his legs that had many wounds and drainage from fluid, I basically cared for all his wound care. The chaplain scheduled three appointments with my dad and never showed for any of them. I spoke to the social worker many times about having someone that could come in for an hour or two to volunteer while I went out to do some errands, but that never occurred during the four months my dad was in hospice care. They tell you that caregiver breaks are important but that did not seem a priority, and only one contact has been made since my dad passed. I would give 5 stars for the Health Aide we had, but only two overall for hospice care. read more

My husband was cared for at home with the help of HOPE HOSPICE. Every person that came to help my husband was incredibly wonderful. He had a nurse every other day for horrific bedsores (caused by accident in hospital) She was so kind with my husband and great at her job. We had people come out to bath him. They were kind and gentle with him. They could cajole him to get cleaned up. He was treated with dignity at every step of his care. They responded quickly and with great compassion whenever I called. I could not have kept him home without their support. He died in his own room holding my hand. I could not save him but he had a good peaceful death. He wanted to die at home and HOPE HOSPICE helped me to achieve that. They equipped me with the right meds for his needs. They once brought meds from Miami at 3am. They did not want him to stay in pain till the next day. When he passed they included me in group counseling. I met an incredible group of widows and widowers. I don't think I would be a mentally healthy today without that group. We have continued to meet once a month on our own. We help each other with rides to drs, home repairs, support for bad days and fun dinners. read more

they came to the hospital, was all nice and told me it was all free. then asked to sign the papers and it said I am responsible for payment of services. I said I cannot sign that. he said oh don't worry I swear to God you won't. who talks like that? then he said I will get a paper copy, cross out that line and initial. he went to get the papers and never came back. totally bizarre. why would I sign that but believe his words. makes no sense. why would you have that in there if in fact it is free? I declined and let my cousin stay in the hospital. seemed like a scammer to me. read more

Worst experience with my father who passed away last November. I will never recommend this company to anyone. It is a very sad moment in anyone's life having a family member dying and not having what we need. We need as a family member support, knowledge about the process and empathy. It is better to not been providing services if you as a company will not provide what is needed. I myself am a healthcare professional and my experience thus far has been shameful on their end. When you call the contact for your parent for 72 hours and leave multiple voicemails and don't get a call back, it already doesn't make the child of said parent feel very good about the "care" they take in their job. Then when you call the main office, you get a random person who doesn't apologize at all to you for being ignored and says "I'll take your info". Great. When I asked, "when can I expect a call back?", I got told (very rudely might I add) that they can't tell me anything. What?? Asking when I can FINALLY expect a phone call back is NOT HIPPA violation or anything in that realm, and as a 12 year healthcare provider, I understand confidentiality well! To top it off, said person then tells me she is going to hang up on me (Geneva I believe her name was). I feel like I've been punked, or better yet, talked to a robot with a script, because I've never seen anything like this in my professional or personal life. My mom had hospice at home in another county. She was transferred to a nursing home in Lee County. She/we knew her time was limited and requested hospice care in this nursing home. Hope Hospice said she did not qualify. She died alone in the nursing home a week later. How do you qualify 6 months previously with another hospice group but not qualify with Hope Hospice and then die a week later???? read more

I can't say enough good things about Hope Hospice. Everyone who interacted with my father, both in the Hospice House and at home, was incredibly kind, gentle, and respectful. The rooms at the Hospice House were large, bright, and without all the constant and annoying beeps, noises, and poking and prodding of a hospital. His nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA's), and social worker went above and beyond not only to make him comfortable, but to make us, his family, prepared for what would likely happen next. Once dad came home, there was a daily visit by a CNA and nurses were available 24/7. I give my highest recommendation to Hope Hospice both for patients and families. read more
