Love this location and it's community activities, but there is no longer bingo at this location.

The American Legion is a great place for military veterans and their families, through Son of the American Legion and the Ladies Auxillary. The American Legion is members only, but they have many activities open to the public. I have been to multiple American Legions around the US and this one has a great crowd and they are very welcoming. They also have a full schedule of activities. Many American Legion allow you to smoke, this one does not inside, but offers a patio for those that smoke. The Legion hall is open to the public for dance lessons in the evening, Friday-Sunday, for a $10 charge, club 201. They are also open for Bingo 1-2 nights a week. The American Legion has multiple generations. As for the Pokemon crowd, the Legion does get a good crowd and they'll protect their people and property. Second, hearing some the members came out of the bush, they were most like marines, and personally - I would give that story a three or four star rating. read more

Visited this park at approximately 8:30pm this evening. After 15 minutes or so, was aggressively approached by two men shining flashlights at my car, telling me this was private property and that I needed to leave immediately. I'm not interested in breaking rules... had I known I was not allowed to be there after dark, I wouldn't have come. Had I known I would be greeted so rudely, I wouldn't have come at all. When I asked for details about where these rules were posted, one of the men instructed the other to call 911. Disgusting representation of our Veteran population. My friends and I came to play Pokemon Go, for this place has multiple PokeStops and two gyms, and were walking around when suddenly a man beamed a flashlight in our direction. He asked us "can I help you?" in a mocking tone, and then proceeded to ask us if we were playing Pokemon Go. We tentatively replied "yes" and then were told that this park was private property (but hadn't I been here before to see the monuments that are open to the public?) and that we needed to leave. We responded that we would. We then walked over to a group of fellow college aged kids to warn them. The same man came over again and repeated the same message, but more sternly than before. We then walked back to our cars to figure out where to go from there, but the man came back, and repeated the same story. We told him that we were just discussing where to go from there, but he kept harassing us about getting in our cars and that we were "done talking." We thus left, bewildered and angry for having been treated so condescendingly. Upon closer inspection, this man had a badge and a handgun while wearing civilian clothing. We were just enjoying looking at monuments that I hadn't seen since I was five, and waiting anxiously for Pokemon, was this treatment really necessary? I understand not wanting large groups at your monuments at night, but this was going too far. And the other reviews indicate that this also happens at earlier hours. I will not be making a return visit, and I'm sure that will be the same for many others, Pokemon Go players and otherwise. read more

This place is a slice of apple pie. The baseball field is remarkable. The Legion has active bingo fun 3 days a week. The dance hall is a place to be on Friday and Saturday nights. I am most impressed with the Walk of Memories. Alpharetta is proud to have such a gem. It is a destination to experience. They sell bricks to honor those who served. I personally got one for my Dad who served in Vietnam. I am very honored I could add his name to the many. read more

A man stopped my family and I as we drove in, saying "This is PRIVATE PROPERTY! We're CLOSED!!" There were many people there walking among the memorials and a baseball game in progress, so...apparently not "closed". I was forced to turn my car around and leave, no explanation given. The same man appeared to question and reject a car that entered after mine. read more

Went there with my wife and her friends to dance. Was skeptical because I heard it was an older crowd, and they didn't serve any food. Well, I was surprised. It was mostly an older crowd, but they could dance. Very large dance floor. And the band was called the Highway Band, and they totally rocked the house. And, they even served the best Philly Steak sandwich I have ever ate. Will definitely be going back. read more
