The coliseum itself is really well maintained and very clean. Staff were very friendly! There are a ton of steps to walk up to get in so be forewarned. It's a much better music venue than Wells Fargo Arena...I've seen a ton of shows here in my day, it used to be the go-to stop for Central Iowa. Let's hope they bring it back to what it once was and could easily become again. But above all, it's a basketball arena, and a fantastic one at that. Let's keep it loud and crazy. I've seen KISS in this venue, but I've heard it louder for basketball games.

Unless it's a block-buster movie event and I feel compelled forgo the wait on Netflix I watch movies here. It's just too easy as a Story City resident and you can't beat the prices. For $5 you can gain admission and a snack. You're not going to find DLP projection or DTS here. You're also not going find 3-D movies. High value and convenience and historic surroundings. The seats here are just plain wood. Something close to what I recall in the auditoriums of my high school. They aren't the most comfortable but will serve the purpose for the duration of any film. A neat little theater and another great asset to the people of Story City. While it may not offer a lot of awe in comfort or technical execution it's really nice to be able to watch recent movies right here in northern Story County at a low price.

Audition; it's fun and they find something to do for everyone! The building is accessible, seating is roomy, it's clean, they sell alcohol and often serve hors d'ouevres on opening and closing night, and the tickets prices haven't gone up in over a decade - $15/ticket for plays and $20/ticket for musicals. It will not take you very long to take the tour, but between the guided talk and the interesting displays on the lower level, allow at least 30 minutes time. That included a group of local lads, who kept on yacking, until Gayle nicely asked them to moderate their noise. I'm never quite sure what to do in those situations....
