I have attended way too many funerals in my day but Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler does an amazing job of…read moreshowing their respects for your families loved ones. The location is convenient and can be found easily. There is plenty of parking in the front and back of the building for all your family and friends. On the inside, you will find a small dining area with coffee pot and sink. A small spot to sit and collect yourself when you need to. On the opposite side of the mini kitchenette, there is more seating with bigger and more comfy chairs. The room that everything takes place in is large, and has lots of seating. You can line the walls with boards and photos and memories of the one you lost and it seems that you would never run out of space to add more. They even help provide a couple easels and tables for you to set up memory boards or framed photos. The gentleman who sat with my family as we planned my mother's funeral was a very kind and caring gentleman. He did his best to explain all the options to our family and gave his recommendations on what would be best. He was never pushy or inconsiderate. He made the experience as painless as it possibly could be, given the circumstances of the situation. There were more than enough options for caskets, flowers, memory cards, and other details. So many options that sometimes it's hard to choose what's best. However, lots of options meant that there was plenty to choose from in various price ranges. They will help make what you want happen in a price range that is comfortable for you. They also put on a slideshow with music during the funeral of photos that you can provide to them. Any flowers that are delivered are promptly set up in beautiful displays. They didn't even have a problem with my family leaving the flowers there for an additional day so we could pick them up later. They also provide an additional service that I think is unlike any other. When a loved one passes, they take a fingerprint. That fingerprint is put on a necklace and given to you free of charge. You can order more if you pay, but the first one is free. And that small little detail became absolutely everything to me. You can personalize a message on the back of the necklace to complete your final memory and the finished product is almost too beautiful to wear. Communication here is amazing. They really take your feelings and your needs into consideration. They take one of the worst things you could imagine and make it somewhat tolerable. The death of a loved one is never easy and it breaks your heart. The last thing you want is to struggle through it blindly with little care or regard from others. That's why Heiligtag is so amazing. They really genuinely, from the bottom of their hearts, care. And they do nearly everything for you so you don't have to worry about a thing. Just show up and they'll help you do the rest. No matter who you talk to or what details you decide on, you'll be so glad you came to Heiligtag!

Every employee we worked with was kind, helpful, and compassion, starting with the on-call funeral director to every person involved with the services we received. Isabelle was our assigned director we worked with, and she has been excellent. She responds to messages quickly and has helped us with so many details. Another employee that stands out is Teresa who served our family the day of the cremation. Her presence was compassionate and much needed in that moment. From start to finish, our options were explained to us, and they helped us provide a beautiful memorial service for my dad. They took care of so many details and beautiful touches for us.

I was waiting to write a review for Chapel Hill Mortuary until a grave marker was in place, but…read morefeel it's important to get this out now as our journey has lasted a while. Note that we are from out of state, and worked with Chapel Hill through occasional visits, and email. First, our initial consultation with Bryan (not the owner) to plan our step son's death and burial, when he was a ward of the State of Missouri and before he was seriously ill, went very well. Bryan met us in our needs, was very forthcoming with options and costs, as well as some of the hurdles we will need to be aware of. He helped us choose the best services for an undefined future, and be sure that he would be provided for with his unique financial situation. This was several years ago. Last year, in June of 2016, Sean passed away from cancer. Initially, the process seemed to go well, and Bryan covered our budget options, given what we went over during our initial consultations. We had hoped he and Chapel Hill understood our very simple needs and tight financial constraints. Chapel Hill did a fantastic job of opening their beautiful facility to Sean's program friends and the many caregivers who came to share stories and celebrate Sean's life. The grounds are very comforting and peaceful, and the parlor room offered just what we needed to host many wheelchairs and another 30+ rotating guests for a few hours. Our challenge came when, after the initial service, we started looking at the remainder of the budget. Some items were missed, and we had to make some (legal) adjustments. However, that we had room to wiggle because a more expensive stone was used speaks to not completely understanding our initial request, and per Sean's wishes, that things be kept simple. The irony is that, had the correct material for the marker been used, we wouldn't have had money to use to get it into place! Per my earlier statement, it has been over a year, and the grave marker is still not in place, and we still don't have a promise date! Brian May, the owner, is one of the nicest, and most caring individuals, as is Bryan, one of the employees with whom we worked most closely. Other staff seems somewhat detached, but functional. Advice: The grounds are beautiful, and make for a welcoming place to visit a loved one's remains, but beware the budgeting process! Be sure you have everything in writing and understand what each item is for BEFORE you or your loved one dies! Also, check everything twice before monies are dispersed! The time of loss is for mourning and remembrances, not for heavy duty legal accounting and scrambling because monies were mis-directed. To their credit, they promised to do what is right and close Sean's physical burial so we can freely and joyfully remember his life. We are still waiting for the maker, however...

Bob Brown is that man. My brother and sister met with Bob to begin the process and he handled all the details from there. And at a very reasonable price! Bob was there in person for the visitation, funeral and gravesite service. He was like a longtime personal friend and he genuinely cared. He clearly understood the significance of the grieving process and how his handling of the arrangements would make this a special and memorable event in the lives of family members. One pleasant surprise was Bob arranging for the Air Force Honor Guard. Our father served in the Air Force in the 1950's. With all that was going on it completely slipped our mind. The Honor Guard was there in full regalia to bestow military honors on our 90 year old father. All the young grandsons were impressed with the three volleys of rifle fire, playing taps and the precision of folding the American flag and presentation to the family. Bob had the presence of mind to collect the .30-06 shells, which were still warm, and hand them to the parents of grandsons. My boys were so excited when I gave them theirs! Thank you Bob! She purchased one for my Veteran grandfather and another for my herself -- both Paid In Full! Years ago my mother left me a box to open upon learning of her death, which was this, 2025. MY BACKSTORY: Grandmother purchased the plots 1965. She died in CA, 9.21.2001 leaving my mother next inline as the "Assignment of Interment Rights" holder. My Mother died in CA, 12.24.22. May 2025, I learned of her death and received her ashes from the L.A. Cemetery and Crematory in Boyle Heights, CA. If I hadn't, she would have been buried in a Mass Grave of the Unclaimed. In her box were copies of documents from 2001 where Valhalla Management, Mr Zell, nicely confirmed that upon my mother's death, I, her only child, would be next inline as "Assignment of Interment Rights" holder. Not having a public email nor an 800 number, makes it costly for out-of-state family. The only way I was able to get in touch with Valhalla was a DM/PM on facebook. May 2025 I reached out and staff named Nick, EVENTUALLY, replied asking me to email documents for him to look at. So, I sorted through Moms box once more to make sure no documents were overlooked. Early July 2025, 2 emails with various PDFs were sent. Late July no response. I did a followup DM/PM on facebook, that too, was ignored. (You can tell when someone read a DM) CURRENTLY JULY 2025: Once they are satisfied I am who I am, the challenge for me is to decide which of 3 CREMATED family members should be interned at Valhalla. They are: my Grandmother, my Grandfathers famous sister, or my mother. I would LOVE to place all 3 there, and give accolades if that is possible. As of this writing, I can't say because no one has replied to my correspondence. Just days ago I left a short Follow-Up DM/PM regarding my emails. Nada. CONCERN: Will or will they not honor a Contract that has been satisfied monetarily? Whether it be of my doing, or other family members with more tenacity, will they step up? It would be great for this to workout the way my grandmother envisioned! I would love have them handle my mothers Obituary Notice as well. Let's hope! As I stated, I will update as this unfolds.
