Get EVERYTHING, from quote to breakdown of charges upon completion IN WRITING. Too many things they told me they didn't honor. I needed a new water heater. When the guy came out to review, he talked with my home warranty people and they only covered part, I was asked if I would pay the additional $700 and approve the work, which I did. He called 2 days later that the parts were in and scheduled to install water heater the next day. He said a balance of $750 would be due upon completion. I told him he told me $700, but he said, no, it's 7-5-0. I needed the water heater, so fine, I'll pay the extra $50 they added. He then added, "if you pay in cash, I'll knock $50 off the bill". I thought about it for a second, but wasn't feeling well, so I said, "I'll have to miss out on that, I'm going to pay with a card." The guy's brother installed the water heater. When the work was complete, he didn't go over anything with me, but I handed him two of my cards (I wanted to split payment up so neither card would be hit so hard). I told him I wanted it split evenly, $375 on each card. He took down my card information, gave me a receipt, and left. I looked at the statement on both cards today, and each has a charge of $393.75. I called and the guy who came to my house first answered. I asked why each card had an additional $18.75 charge included. He said it's a service fee for using a card and said that's why he told me if I paid in cash, he'd take $100 off the bill. I told him he never told me either of these things, he didn't mention a card fee (if I had that info and still chose to use a card, I would have just put it all on one card), and he only offered $50 off (which I assumed was easier for their accounting, not because of a service fee). I told him he also only offered me $50 off, not $100. He repeated several times that no, he said $100 off and that he told me about the service fee for using a card, adding that "EVERYBODY" charges a fee for using a card...stores, restaurants, businesses. I disagreed, telling him EVERYBODY is not doing it, and those who do, have signage, or tell the client about it beforehand, which he did not do. I would have gone out and withdrawn the money to give him cash if he had clearly told me he'd take $100 of the bill, and I would not have been charged any card fees. When his brother was preparing my receipt, he didn't mention any service fee either. He kept repeating his lie, so I finally said I'm done with the conversation. Before I hung up, he had the audacity to tell me the next time I need some plumbing done, he'll make sure to give me a good deal. So, what would/should have been a $600 charge if he honored his word, costs $787.50. If they had been up front and honest and offered what he said they offered, I would not have incurred and additional $187.50 in charges. read more

Before he even came in the house he asked for my payment of the service call fee. He was sweating bullets before he got down on his knees to look. proceeded to ask me if I stepped on the door of the dishwasher. Then he didn't even know what a 2 drawer Phisher and Paquel dishwasher was and I told him before he came. He said he knew exactly what it was. I did get upset because he said he couldn't help with this. I told him if he can't help, then he needs to leave. He then holds up his phone and says good thing I record all my calls. I was directed to American Plumbing Solutions and Brian via my home warranty service and have been completely satisfied. Two calls in 3 days - first for a stoppage in the main (he worked very hard and went above and beyond to get through my janky plumbing) which he cleared promptly. The second call was for a leak that happened from a broken, dried out gasket when we turned the water back on, that resulted in hot water spraying all over my kitchenette, fixed immediately. I also must compliment American Home Services (the warranty company) for their video chat, which gave me access to plumbers to help me through the finding of the right accesses to stop the issues. Julie may not sound nice to you guys, but she made sure I got service promptly, so I like her. Because of my Warranty I it was a great value and saved me a ton of money. Don't let these jokers come anywhere near your property. We had work done through a contract through the county water repair program. They broke a private line (gas line to pool heater) and acted like it was my fault. No where in the contract does it say I need to have anything other than irrigation lines marked. They don't return calls. They didn't even bring their own hose and had to use ours. When they came back later to finish the work and put my yard back together they put grass seed in a flower bed. I now have a $4000 repair for a private gas line and grass I need to dig out of a rock bed for a repair that was supposed to be "free". Not to mention the contractor was really rude. When they finished up the work and told me they were leaving they didn't even mention the line they broke. When I asked about it the owner told me "we don't fix gas lines. We are plumbers". After a wad of paper towels was flushed down our toilet by a older person who didn't know better, APS was sent out. TERRIBLE DECISION! The main stack was clogged, and after asking the techs, Ken and Brian, to please auger the main stack, I was told they "knew what they were doing since they had been doing this for 30 years"! They instead snaked the main floor drain, that had no issues. They tried to snake the washer drain, could not, and insisted the trap was "rusted shut". The very same washer drain that had been open before the soft clog got there and caused backup from the upstairs toilets and kitchen sink. This so called "rusted shut" trap then turned into a black water fountain. This caused flooding into my basement and under the vinyl flooring, and waste and tp piled up on and around my washer and dryer and all over the floor around that drain. I called APS to come back out. Brian showed up, came downstairs and looked at the mess. After I asked him how this "rusted shut" trap was able to make such a mess, he informed me that this "wasn't his fault". After I laughed at him and told him the hell it's not, he became mortally offended and said if I was going to curse at him he'd just leave. I honestly believe he was desperately looking for ANY way out. He said he would just refer this job to someone else, rather than admitting he was responsible for this. I called and asked to speak with a manager several days ago, and was told they would return my call. APS is now dodging my calls, and certainly don't seem worried whatsoever about the horrific mess they caused by thier ineptitude. I would leave ZERO stars, but yelp won't let me. read more

Came to the house per my AHS warranty. Said because i turned the water off and that my water pressure was too high , it would be an automatic denial of my warrant for a faucet repair. They were happy to offer to repair it on their own though for $280. They also left my outside hose detached while checking my water pressure and did not hook the hose back up. This caused my pool to drain into my garage for 3 hours. This company is unprofessional and trash. read more

APS has figured out an epic scam and they're getting away with it. if I could leave zero stars I absolutely would. these people are nothing but a scam!!!! They were sent out by our warranty company (American Home Shield... who is also TRASH!) to fix a main line clog. first, they showed up and clearly didn't want to do any work. we were told that the toilet needed to be replaced (which we know is a lie). we were also told that he (Brian) would need to go on the roof to access the line but that he didn't have a ladder. we offered a ladder then he said that he didn't know if the warranty company would cover him going on the roof. but that we could "pay out of pocket" and he'd do it. He then brought out a tiny drain snake that clearly wasn't sufficient to begin with. after that epic fail, he says we need someone to come out with a camera and left. he then told our warranty company that there was a "hard object" in the line to which the warranty company said wouldn't be covered. the guy (Brian) CLEARLY didn't want to do the work. his mannerisms from the time he stepped out of his vehicle showed that he didn't want to be there. but why would he when he knows that he can do absolutely no work and get paid. they deserve to be shut down! this is beyond ridiculous!!! these people are SCUM, bottom of the barrel leaches. This company has mastered gaming the system. These two gentlemen came out to my house through my home warranty (like everyone else) for a leaky pipe from my upstairs toilet onto the ceiling in my hallway. They came in, saw the water damage, walked upstairs, looked at the toilet. They said, "the home warranty company doesn't allow us to cut into the ceiling, so you'll need to do that. Once you do, just call the warranty company and they'll send us back out." We decided to wait a couple of weeks with the holidays. We cut into the ceiling and called AHS to have them come back out. The warranty company said that American Plumbing Solutions wrote that it was pre-existing prior to the start of our contract, and that it would not be covered. I asked AHS to explain how I would've known they couldn't cut into my ceiling unless they told me that. They said they believed me but had to go by what was in writing from the company. I then asked - do they get paid once they close out the case as not covered? And AHS said yes, they do. So there you have it. Now I have a hole in my ceiling and they stole 100 bucks for doing absolutely nothing but lie. read more

I wish I had seen all these terrible reviews before allowing this company to enter my home (twice). My home warranty company (2-10) sent them out first to investigate what I thought was a leak. One of the two guys was super rude, and acted like I was an idiot for thinking a tapping sound meant something was leaking. They took my $100 service fee, said there was no leak and left. The second time we called the warranty company, they assigned them to us again. I wish I had known I could request not to be assigned this company. The same rude men came out. I showed them the leak in our basement, thinking it would be an easy fix that they could patch right where I could see the leak. They made me pay before they would tell me anything and then said the leak was higher up the stack and they would need a camera and to rip out the wall. They did tell us the warranty doesn't cover the wall work. And after reading the rest of these reviews, I'm glad they left without doing anything. This plumbing company is a scam. It contracts with a home warranty company. It sends out a lazy, rude plumber. He does a perfunctory check of the plumbing hardware. He says he leaving to get the faucet; will be back in an hour. Six hours later the warranty company calls and states the plumber said the eighteen year old faucet, corroded and rusted in the inside was broken not through normal wear and tear but by negligence. American Plumbing Solution then offers to repair the problem for $500. (The home warranty company charge$40 per month and only $125 for service calls.) This is the home of my 90 year old mother. I have contacted the circuit attorney's office. I advise everyone dealing with company to do the same. This company must be stopped. PS: I brought the facet part to Home Depot and one of its representatives certified the broken faucet was from normal wear and tear. read more

When they came out, they called in for claim on my home owners warranty. The claim was denied. I proceeded to call the home owners warranty company and had one of the plummers with me while on the phone. It appears they were shaping the information and the claim with the home owners warranty company knowing a denial would mean they could charge me more for the work. So, they proceeded to price gouge by charging $415 for 30 minutes of work. While in the basement, one worker started screaming at the other worker correcting him on his work. I was told to always start with something positive. They were always on time. All 3 times the warranty company (2-10 Warranty) sent them out. Three trips, three diagnoses, all three wrong. Each time they looked at the leak under the kitchen sink said they found the problem and always offered to fix something else for $100-150 (not through the warranty). On the third trip they said the leak was caused by improper installation and not covered by the warranty. I asked for a different plumber and the company said there were no others in this area. When a REAL plumber (out of network) saw it, he said they were totally wrong. Please be aware that these guys do not know what they are doing and would like for you to pay them (outside of the warranty) while they report to the warranty company that the problem is not covered. I wouldn't even be writing this review but I feel I must after I called them and the conversation that I had. The lady was really rude and gave me multiple reasons why they could not show up today. I do understand things happen and I am truly sorry they had problems in their company today but they left me hanging. She told me should would call me right back and she was going to get another repair person for me. Hours later still no phone call. They came out to fix an easy "blockage" on my sink but they weren't here for 5 minutes before stating that lead was disintegrating the pipes and they'd have to go through the wall to replace them. My warranty company reached out to them several times for 2 WEEKS and couldn't get a diagnosis from them to get the work started. The woman who answers their phone line would also never give me a straight answer and would say "I'll call you back in 30 minutes" and would never call back. I finally called my home warranty company and told them to refuse this vendor for my home. I now have a "stoppage" tech coming out within days to fix the real problem---a stoppage. We have a home warranty, and they contacted American Plumbing Solutions to fix our water heater. Before the repairman- which is one of the owners the lady answering the phone said, showed up, my husband talked to him, explained the problem, told him what type of water heater we had- a Bradford white, and sent him a screenshot of the serial number and brand. He showed up on time, went down to the basement, looked at the water heater then came back up. He said, he needed to get a part, and he was going to check the plumbing supply down the street and said he'd be right back. He asked me for the home warranty co-pay which was 85.00 and I wrote a check. The home warranty called and said the plumber doesn't work on our brand of water heater. What? So he knew before he came what brand it is, and he physically saw what brand it is- and after he receives payment- and lies saying he was going to plumbing store, decides he doesn't work on that brand? So this company is a scammer. When my husband talked to him, he was rude, and when we suggested we would just cancel the check, he said he'd call the police. Of course, the police could do nothing, it's a civil matter. The fact of the matter is, he could not provide the service, he knew he could not provide the service, lied to me ( and my daughter in law witnessed this as she was here) , and demanded payment anyway. I was able to schedule an appointment at 7:00am which was perfect. Plumber diagnosed the problem, went to get parts from the store and returned to fix the problem. On top of my story, I found the whole group to be rude and awkward. I was forced to use this company by the home warranty. My home's main valve broke, and I could not stop a leak into the basement, and we currently have no water going on 24 hours. We moved in last week, so it was the first time we used the valve. They came in and could not operate the valve ( Tried a whole two turns.. ugh) and took a picture. They took a hundred dollars from me by check and stated that they would get a new valve. Shortly after, I received a call from the warranty company that it was not covered. The Crew blamed me for breaking the 30 year old valve. They lied about the condition of the plumbing and basement. Well, it looks like I'm not alone. I have a home warranty like most of the reviews below and these guys have figured out how to work the system while not do any work. We had a burst pipe and our main line shut off failed to turn off completely so we filed with the warranty to have someone come out. These were the guys that showed up ( and were rude) and told us straight up that "these shut offs fail all the time- i tell people not to use them" and then said " the warrant company doesn't pay me enough to make any money on this repair". They said they couldn't fix the busted pipe until the main shut off was fixed and the warranty company wasn't open today, so they would call first thing in the morning for approval and be back then. Well the next morning i have a message that the warranty company that denied it. I called the warranty company and the plumbers had reported that it failed due to " force and misuse and abuse" so it wouldnt be covered, when it had clearly failed due to "normal wear and tear" which WOULD be covered. This reeked of them lying and not wanting to do the job. It's disgusting. These guys are dishonest to the core and i have reported them to the warranty company and encourage everyone to stay far away. THey are not to be trusted. My home warranty sent this company to do a repair of the valve above my water heater which was leaking. This was a few weeks ago. Two men came, and I think they did an exceptional job! They completely replaced the value and even put a permanent one in so that this didn't happen again. Did not use cheap parts. Took their time, made sure it was done right before they left. They did not ask for a cent more than what was owed. I am surprised by the negative reviews based on the service I got. People don't always leave reviews when they are satisfied! Terrible experience. We have a leaking hot water heater and the tech from American Plumbing Solutions was extremely rude and unprofessional. Showed up without notice, become aggravated when asked for ID, took one look at the hot water heater and left without providing further information. After calling the home warranty for clarification, we were told American Plumbing Solutions "doesn't replace hot water heaters in two-story buildings," which is an interesting comment when we live in a 3 story building and they were in my home for less than 5 minutes. I was referred to this company through my Home Warranty to snake my kitchen sink. It took multiple calls to reach someone to schedule an appointment and then they did not show up on the scheduled day. When they finally came, the next day, the plumber took maybe 10 minutes looking around the sink and said I had to open up the dry wall behind my sink and charge me $800 to replace a part without even attempting to snake it! I had another company come out and my sink worked fantastic after the snaking. Called these guys for warranty work on my hot water heater. They spent 20 minutes diagnosing the problem and calling around for parts on Wednesday. On Thursday the plumber picked up the part in Chesterfield (a 45 minute round trip) brought it to my house, said it would take and hour to install, then told me the bill would be $325! I thought that was pretty steep for warranty work and 2 hours of labor and I told him so. The plumber agreed it was high, and called his boss. The boss said if I was not happy, they could leave the part, I could install it myself and they would charge $125. I griped some more, then signed the work order. I said I might have to go on-line and gripe about the price. The plumber walked out to the truck with the signed work order and my part and drove away. I called the office and the secretary said the plumber left because I refused to pay. I said, "I signed the work order, how is that refusing to pay?" The owner later called me and said they left because I threatened to give bad reviews. I said, "so you think by leaving, my review will be good?" He said he has lawyers that deal with people who give bad reviews. I guess I will find out. UPDATE--- Thanks American Plumbing!!! Because you left in a snit without doing the work I saved almost $100! You said I would have a hard time finding anyone else to do the warranty work, and if I did find someone it would be much more expensive. GUESS WHAT! If I could give zero stars I would but I can't. Came out for a home warranty on a leak in our stack. Warranty company said to expect them between 11-1 and the "technician" showed up at 10:28 a.m. and it would have been awesome if they actually called me in advance before just showing up. Tech had no tools of his own. Actually left multiple times to go buy tools to use. Cut a giant hole in my nursery room wall and as he was cutting into the wall cut into TWO water pipes. Made a comment before he said he cut the pipes saying "I should have stayed home." MADE THE LEAK WORSE!!!! Kept huffing as he was "working" as if this was an inconvenience. After he cut into the wall, said he couldn't fix anything today and that the company would call me back Monday to let me know when. Oh AND told me he "doesn't repair the sheet rock. I'm only a plumber." And that I would have to call the warranty company to have someone fix the hole.... Here I am 5 hours later after he was here for 2.5 hours and didn't do a dang thing and my toilet is now leaking!!!! Along with the original leak. I have a lot more negative things to say that he did but I'll save it. Seems to be a theme on here.. Problem fixed incorrectly the first time which has caused damage to our ceiling. The owner "Ken" refused to take any responsibility and said, and I quote, "A lot can happen over a couple of months.. your house could have moved..." Not to mention it took three days for anyone from American Plumbing to call me back. I've contacted 2-10 and they have offered to make it right.
