Had a great experience with American Rentals. I came in to pick up a breakdown engine hoist, and the person helping me noticed I was driving a freshly detailed car. Instead of just tossing the equipment in and calling it a day, they actually went out of their way to grab some cardboard and line the inside so my seats wouldn't get scuffed. I would've given this place five stars if it wouldn't have been the guy who man and the desk when I picked up the rental Saturday morning. About a month ago my boyfriend had called and asked about renting a belt sander because we were refinishing our hardwood floors and spoke to Ernesto who was more than helpful. We had been researching where to rent a sander, and we decided to go with this place, because it seemed very easy. Ernesto was helpful and we were sold on renting it from this place. A couple days ago we went in to rent the sander, and Mr. personality was manning the front desk. He was not helpful at all. We asked him about which sandpaper we should use when we told him what project we were using the sander, for he said that was all the sandpaper he had. I believe when you have a small business such as this, you should definitely hire people to help others who are friendly, or at least willing to help. I work with the public.. so I believe in customer service.. I don't know if he was just upset because he was working on a Saturday. There was another guy who helped us. I didn't catch his name, he loaded it into our car and was a little bit more helpful with which sandpaper we should use. It was $75 to rent for the day and since they're closed on Sundays we got to return it on Monday which was awesome. I did rented a boom lift for a day but the machine that they brought had issue with not operated to moving forward and the engine wasnt able to turned off so we had to call them two times for them to come over and fix.... Luckily they arrived w/in 1-2hrs and fixed but this caused us to delay our job. Hands down the absolute WORST business and customer service (or lack thereof) I've ever had to deal with. 5 total calls to this establishment, 3 voice mails to manager Hugo, 1 message left with Adrian, and 1 other left with a female who's name I didn't get but promised to leave a message on Hugo's desk. A vendor of mine rented a 50amp extension cable from this location so that the venues 50amp spider box would be closer to the stage for our amplification and stage power for the bands performing the weekend of May 25th and 26th. We plugged the rented 50amp cable between the spider and the main cable and everything seemed fine. Plugged in my amps and auxiliary extension cables to the stage, I turned on one of my amps and POOF! Nothing but smoke and large bang. Turned it off immediately. First things first, disconnected and the main cable from the panel, tested the leads (2 hot legs , neutral and ground) everything was fine. Plugged in the rented 50amp extension cable from American rentals and wouldn't. You know it, someone had physically opened the housing, moved one of the hot legs to the neutral side and there you have it, 220v going through would should have ALL been 120v. You cost me $1600 of a pro audio power amplifier that cannot be repaired and completely f*cked the show for the weekend. I called that Saturday morning and the representative (Mr Mendes) answered the phone, music blasting in the back group and I could hardly make out what he was saying, I told him if they tested the cables before renting out and he said I would have to talk to the manager, I didn't ask him to lower the music so that I could understand him, he said what?, Exactly my case lower the music so that you can understand what I'm saying, again he didn't same thing and said what?. Put down the crack pipe Mr. Mendes! Absolutely worthless and a complete waste of time and money. It's been four days since I left my last message with Hugo, and I'm still yet to receive any kind a phone call regarding this situation. F*ck you and your business, you guys are a completely useless. read more

I am an independent event organizer and I have always searched for rental companies that would cater my needs -especially when it comes to supplies. There was an event I needed to produce that required a "disco ball." I looked all over for decent prices and local businesses. To my avail, I found American Rentals and they delivered the disco ball with the bar and the spot light that comes with it, chairs and tables on time the day before the event and I had ample to time to work with it and be done with it before pick up time. The process from beginning to end was smooth and handled in a professional manner. Because of it, I came back to the same company for another tables/chairs rental. My location this time was even farther than the first and, once again, American Rentals produced their best even with a short amount of time. I ordered a table and a water dispenser and the lady told me to pick it up by 4pm on Friday. I drove all the way down from Burbank and got there at 3:40pm but they were closed. I needed those items for a volunteer event I'm hosting on Christmas day and can't find another place to rent from since everyone is closed this weekend for the holidays. I understand that businesses close early for the holidays but don't tell me to pick up my order before 4pm if you're not going to be there. If they were going to close earlier than 4pm then they should've told me when I placed my order that day so that I could've planned accordingly. don't rent equipment only if you absolutely have to , buy your own you'll save a lot of potential headache , these guys will rent you faulty equipment with expired license plates , faulty parts , and charge you extra afterward for damage.
