We have done two big projects with tile from Tilezone. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable, and their selection is enormous. If you are looking for vintage looking ceramic tile, just be sure to consult with him early enough. Some colors need to be custom ordered well in advance. So I have been planning redoing our floors in our tiny bath and kitchen and most tile shops I've been to aren't helpful if you have no clue how to start and you know what you want. The owner and main man here ,George, is awesome. I can't praise him enough. We had gone to everything from big name superstores to other boutique type stores in the area. If you are clueless how to make your dreams come true or you don't know much about tiling -he knows all. I wish I came here sooner. He was friendly about any job no matter how small. He also informed us on cutting edge materials and how to make unique ideas work. Superstores wanted to push what they have in stock not what you want. The small stores seem to not care if the job was too small. You definitely should make the trek there if you're starting a job and you want something unique. I'll be going back when we tile our patio. read more

This is a small showroom with a large selection. The staff here is very knowledgeable about their inventory. I came here to select some tile for my kitchen remodel and it was a pleasant experience. I haven't narrowed down to about two or three tiles, and the sales associate advised us to think it over with breakfast next-door. I really appreciated than no pressure sales approach. I had a design in mind when I got there, but after talking with George and seeing all he had to offer, I went in a completely different direction. We found the Tile Zone through a recommendation from a sales person at Home Depot in spring of 2010. We visited the store and found the selection to be great and unique. We found a small metal mosaic for our kitchen backsplash and I remember the price at $27 per sq. ft. We ended up waiting a year on our kitchen project and revisited the Tile Zone in May 2011 to relocate the tile we liked and update the pricing. Upon entering the Tile Zone I told them their Yelp info needs to be updated as they still state they are open on Sunday, but are not. I also asked about the 20% discount listed on Yelp and the salesperson was surprised that was still there, but he would give me the "contractors price" for the tile. They still had our tile we liked and quoted a regular price of $44 per sqft, but the contractors price was $38.40 per sqft. I told him we were quoted $27 per sqft. last year and he said there was no possible way this was the price. We left without purchasing tile and I was determined to see if I could find the tile elsewhere. On our visits to Del Amo mall we would actually see the exact same tile as part of "Home Paradise" kiosk. I ended up finding "Home Paradise" online and went to their showroom here in LA. "Home Paradise" had the EXACT same tile without any haggling on my part for $24 sqft. Bottom line is Tile Zone lied to me about their pricing. I would have been fine paying $27, but don't lie to me and say this was never the price when I can find the same tile for $24. Bad business practices=bad business for me. Same salesperson on all visits. Recommend using Tile Zone to locate tile as they do have a cool selection, but then locate it elsewhere for much less. We have been customers of The Tile Zone since sometime back in 2005 or so. We went in after stopping for breakfast at Bake and Broil next door just to look and try to get some ideas for the bathrooms in our house, which we were just getting ready to remodel. After looking at the selection in the store and talking to Joe, we began to plan out how we would get the first bathroom done so we would have at least one of the bathrooms done when we moved in. The process was simple and not so simple. After looking at tile samples and talking over the layout of the bathroom with Joe, we began to get some ideas and, looking over Joe's design options, started picking out colors. We selected a hand made tile with some porcelain for the master bath. Joe ordered color samples, and when they came back different from the board we ordered more. Once we had the colors right, we ordered the tile for the bathroom and waited until it came in. His go to installer, Juan, did a masterful job of floating the shower, fitting the plumbing, lights and vent, and finishing the job. Absolutely beautiful work that has been perfect for 8 or so years now. And then we ran out of money to do the front bathroom, so we waited. Just recently we started again on the front bathroom. Same process - measurements, design, refine the design, pick color options, look again, and then finalize. Once again, we and to wait for the tile and once it came in we waited until Juan was on call to do the install. Similar process with more work as we were using the tile as a wainscot around the bathroom and reusing the floor that we had installed years ago. Again, the work Juan did was absolutely outstanding - beautiful tile, beautiful finish work, overall a great job. Are they the cheapest? Probably not, but they are doing high quality work and Joe and George work with you to make sure that the design, materials, and install are all of a par. We have also bought a bunch of tile from them for other projects - kitchen backsplash, baseboard in the master bath, etc. I have been very happy working with them and they have done incredibly beautiful work on our house. read more

Certainly, like many businesses, the amount of money you pay is reflective of the quality of product and service. A designer need not explain that. Our own designer just brought us in and let Joe put his ideas to work. So if you don't have a designer, you can count on Joe. Ask him to see his award winning spanish tile project. An interior designer should not walk in a store with a client, benefit from the owner's expertise, knowing that their client will buy elsewhere. Did these clients get a design proposal from the owner also? Did the owner have an unrealistic expectation? We first hired the Tilezone 6 years ago. In a recent visit, this month, to the store I met another couple who were repeat customers just as my wife and I have been. In our case the Tilezone contracted 2 different qualified tile contractors to install tile in 4 bathrooms and a kitchen backsplash. A short while ago we asked Joe for assistance with a tile project at our church using 47 6 x 6 tiles that were painted by our Sunday School students. My daughter had started an effort to have those tiles placed on a wall in the church garden area He came by to look at the proposed site and then we went to the tile store to pick out liners for the outside trim pieces which Joe donated. Joe then started talking about how he could help. By the time it was over Joe and his assistant Wally donated many hours over 3 days to help us install the tile. The entire offer of the work that Joe and Wally came from them, not us. He supervised my 17 year old daughter and her friends showing them how to prep and place the tile. It was a great experience and a beautiful result. Well, I am an interior designer and work out of Long Beach. I was working on a project in LA doing three bathrooms for a house in Brentwood and Tile Zone was my go-to place for samples. I put all my samples together and my client and I agreed upon all that we chose. All together, the owner Joe quoted us about $8,000 for all the tiles for the project. I thought that was pretty reasonable. Then my client hired his tile installer/contractor and he ended up getting us prices $1500 less and so I called Joe and asked what he could do and he said that he did the best he could and that I was "bitching" about his prices. I am not an unreasonable person, so I was about to agree to purchasing some of the tiles through him and he got angry and nasty, said he threw out my paperwork and hung up on me, saying he never wants me to do business with him again. A designer! Someone who could potentially bring him a LOT more business. Although, I see his point, he wouldn't know if all my clients would comparison shop the way mine did and he has to be able to make money off me, too. But he made a bad business decision and was completely RUDE about the whole thing, too. I am a professional. So I would recommend not going to Tile Zone. But if you are doing your own home in Long Beach and don't want to hassle with comparison shopping and trying to save some good money, by all means use Tile Zone. They do have an excellent selection. Although, I'd say work with George - he is a little bit more reasonable and considerably less sleazy. read more

They have the best selection of product by far and I happen to think the quality of installation is superior. Sadly, I'm giving Tile Zone one star today because Joe was suppose to meet me at my home two Thursdays ago between 11 and 1 pm. He set the date and time. He blew me off and I haven't heard from him since I was in the store. I am even a former satisfied customer. But this time around I felt like my business wasn't important to him because they are already scheduled 3 months out. read more

George is amazing to work with, and while you can get tile anywhere, the selection at Tile Zone is MUCH better than most every other place out there! The Italian wall tile we bought wasn't cheap, but it looks incredible with our counters & cabinets. And let's face it - how often do you update your kitchen anyhow? You want it to look as amazing as the picture you have in your head. We were working with Kitchen Kreations for an insurance rebuild on our kitchen, and I was disappointed with the selection I found at Lowe's & Home Depot. On a Saturday afternoon, my wife & I had to pick out our counters at KK, and I was thrilled that The Tile Zone was right next door. We were able to take samples back & forth and get a much better idea of what the finished project would look like. George is very easy going and was willing to work with me as our project needs changed. read more

The owner, Joe, has extensive knowledge about every subtle variation offered by each distributor and provides excellent aesthetic/functional suggestions. Their customer care, knowledge, wide range of mid to high-end tiles, and logical layout surpass all of the other businesses I have been to. When placing an order with Tile Zone, they made a mistake in placing order,, when we discovered it, and return to them about it. They said it was a honest mistake, (I am sure it was), they would only give a small percentage off the new tile, but, would not make good their error or replace it. Their tile is not cheap. I will not do business with stores that do not stand behind products and errors. If you need tile for you project look some where else. read more

As a designer located in Long Beach I have used and recommended to my clients Tile Zone for nearly 5 five years and sadly this weeks unfortunate encounter with the owner, Joe has left me wanting nothing to do with this company. As JOE was assisting me with pricing and picking selections I informed him my current client in belmont shore was on a budget due to construction setbacks and explained to him the budget I was looking for in each item. After noticing his frustration with me, because of my low budget, he stated "you're in the wrong F***ING place" and proceeded to tell me not to bring in my cheap clients anymore. I felt so uncomfortable and felt my business wasn't good enough for his "high-end" company so I stated I would no longer bring him anymore of my business nor my clients. And it didn't stop there!! -As I walked away and out of the door he continued to yell and curse at me never to F***ING come back. I could not believe the words that were coming out of this cold condescending man. Later in the day I received an email from Joe, with a short apology but following up with a long statement of "knowledge", so he titled the email, "teaching" me how I must up-sell my clients on higher end products. -Yea, thanks! I am not in the business of selling tile, you are and doing a horrible job of it by driving designers out. As a designer I try my very best to stay within my project budgets whether I am working with low budget clients or higher end clients, or even directly for contractors. And I know that means a lot to clients as their designer to stay within the budget. I strongly do not suggest to give this company your business. There are tons of helpful and much more resourceful tile showrooms to go to. And if you do happen to stop in for help with your renovations insist to work with George only, much more patient and pleasant to work with. I would give this company a no stars based on Joe's unprofessionalism. read more

We live in Cal Heights and recently contracted with tile zone to renovate our bathroom including recapturing a shower that had been turned into a closet. We wanted a period flavor but did not want the generic 1920s-30-s bathroom. Joe and his crew were great from tile selection to design to implementation. Joe came by every day to check progress. They were always on time and kept everything clean. We were consulted on every decision and when there was a glitch, they fixed it immediately. We had a Christmas Brunch and people just congregated in the bathroom because it is so fabulous. We can't say enough good things about Tile Zone.
