My wife and I received the Outline of Coverage and the Application for Medicare Supplement Insurance documents from HealthSpring. Mine is fine but my wife's Application for Medicare Supplement Insurance has either the wrong birthdate or social security number on it and cannot be viewed. In addition, I have had my Prescription Card for weeks weeks but my wife has not received hers yet. My wife has repeatedly left messages and emails about the situation over the past few weeks but no nothing seems to have been done regarding these errors. My husband and I signed up for Medicare in 2018. We were RVing full time and volunteered in campgrounds for 3 to six months at a time. For some reason our advisor at American Retirement Advisors input the address of the campground NOT our PO box in our application to Medicare and I did not receive the premium notices until I was DROPPED from Medicare. Also the premium for the United Healthcare Supplement plan increased twice a year. We started at $245.35 for the two of us and saw 6 increases over the next 3 years to $314.46. Since I had worked for a school district for two years I was eligible for Arizona State Retirement System Medicare Advantage plans that were half the cost of the Supplement. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went to our annual meeting with our advisor and asked point blank, "Why wouldn't we go with the ASRS plans?" Needless to say we stopped dealing with American Retirement Advisors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And this year with the help from Village Medical we signed up for a wonderful Cigna Medicare Advantage that has no monthly premium. UPDATE - Got a Very impressivecall from Hannah, asking if there was anything they could do about my negative review. Unlike Ian S (the business owner) who made excuses, Hannah's focus was on Me, saying she was sorry I had a negative experience and asking what they could do to make me feel better. . She did say they had done a thorough review and update, to make sure their focus is on clients and that everyone feels important. She offered to do another review of my Medicare plan when I said that it felt like no one looked it over this last enrollment period. I said that wasn't necessary, as Tammy had done an impressively thorough job in July when a move nessecitated a new plan. At the end of the call I was feeling like I truly am an important person to this company and will give them another chance to keep me as a client for the annual Medicare review. Investor beware! American Retirement Advisors evidently obtain most of their clients from the seminars that David Edge conducts. We met with David Edge and he made a lot of promises that weren't kept or followed through on. Then our next meeting was with Tom Bugbee, who should have used information that we provided to David Edge, but didn't. The end result was a $200,000 investment in an insurance product (annuity) that doesn't mature until I am 95 years old!! They made $20,000 for leading us down this wrong road. I was hooked by David Edge in meetings that they had at the library in Phoenix. When I first signed up for insurance counseling from them, I received enough info to make a decision on Medicare, Medigap Ins., and a drug plan. This was during covid so nothing was face to face, just phone related. Once I was signed up, I could never reach the person I originally spoke to: always referred to someone else. They never were informed about me to help like they should. The worst part is that I was told that someone would contact me at Medicare signup period and reevaluate the insurance I currently had. No one ever contacted me. Called them and the person that answers the phone, is the one that advised me on a drug plan. According to the booklet they send out, not sure if they were qualified. It was not the best plan for me, necessarily. Once they have you signed up, they have received their incentive from these companies, they seem to be done. Hook you and leave you afloat. I have been a client of American Retirement Advisors for about 3 years and have met with David Edge each time regarding my health insurance needs. I began by attending a seminar on Social Security presented by David and, subsequently, met with him at his office in Scottsdale. He determined which insurance plan was best for me based on my needs, requirements and the cost. Each year at open enrollment, he will re-evaluate my current needs and will advise me accordingly. What I like most is the fact that ARA does not "push" any particular insurance company as they represent them all. I have never spoken with anyone who is as knowledgeable about insurance and about Social Security policy. I highly recommend allowing American Retirement Advisors to evaulate your needs. And....they provide services other than just health insurance guidance. read more
